    Peaceful home, excellent medical care

I moved my mom in recently and felt immediate relief - the move was smooth, staff are compassionate and professional, and medical leadership (including a Nurse Practitioner) and nurses provide excellent care. The brand-new, spotless facility is beautiful and homey with spacious apartments, chef-prepared meals in a lovely dining room, abundant daily activities, on-site therapy and amenities like a salon, gym and theater. Communication with families is strong and I'd recommend this community to others for the peace of mind it provides.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Gables of Westerville presents as a modern, well-appointed senior living community with strong emphasis on facility quality, aesthetics, and resident programming. Multiple descriptions emphasize a recently built, state-of-the-art campus with resort-like finishes, spacious one-bedroom units (often cited around 750 sq ft), and a broad set of on-site amenities including a salon, gym, theater, library, and outdoor green spaces. The environment is frequently characterized as home-like and clean, and the layout offers convenient outdoor access and single-level navigation for many areas.

Care and staff: Clinical and caregiving strengths are a recurring theme. Families highlight compassionate, person-centered interactions, continuity in nursing leadership, and effective coordination with outside physicians and hospice when needed. The presence of on-site clinical services—such as a nurse practitioner, full-time RN coverage, and therapy services—supports continuity of care. Reviewers repeatedly note staff who call residents by name, supportive peer culture among residents, and an approachable activities and nursing team. At the same time, there are operational concerns about staffing depth: constrained staffing levels have been associated with delays completing some tasks and short staffing in dining support, which reviewers cited as impacting service consistency.

Dining and activities: Dining receives mixed but generally positive comments. The community emphasizes chef-prepared, restaurant-style meals and an attractive dining room; several reviewers called the food a highlight and noted a menu with salon-style dining. However, the facility operates with a separate meal-plan model rather than including meals in base rent, and reviewers described occasions of limited menu availability, run-outs, or cold meals when cafeteria staffing was stretched. The activities program is a notable strength—daily offerings, frequent small-group crafts, outings, happy hours, and specialty activities (manicures, putting green, movie nights) contribute to an active social environment and high resident engagement.

Facilities and maintenance: The building condition and finishes are consistently praised—new construction, modern design, and well-maintained apartments. Apartment personalization is permitted, and many units include built-ins and ample space. Operationally, reviewers raised maintenance and equipment issues that suggest gaps in responsiveness or preventive upkeep: examples include unresolved shower leaks, non-opening windows that limit in-unit ventilation, occasional lift-button failures, and vehicle maintenance concerns for resident transport. These items point to areas where facilities management and preventive maintenance could be strengthened.

Management and patterns: Management is often described as communicative, helpful during move-in, and consistent in leadership, which reviewers associated with smoother onboarding and coordination. Families also described helpfulness from reception, activities staff, and clinical leaders. Conversely, there are isolated but consequential concerns about staff conduct and tone, as well as frustration when leadership is perceived as slow to address specific service or maintenance problems. Pricing and availability are additional operational considerations: the community is seen as relatively costly by some families and can have wait lists or limited immediate openings.

Bottom line: The Gables of Westerville is positioned as a high-quality, contemporary community with clear strengths in facility condition, programming, and a generally compassionate clinical team. Prospective residents and families should weigh those positives against operational factors that may affect daily life—most importantly staffing depth during peak service times, the meal-plan structure and occasional dining continuity issues, and specific maintenance or transportation reliability items. Visiting in person, asking about current staffing ratios, meal-plan options, preventive maintenance schedules, and transportation inspection practices will help families assess fit and identify how the community is addressing the operational concerns noted above.

    About The Gables of Westerville

The Gables of Westerville sits on the border of Franklin and Delaware counties, close to St. Paul Catholic Church, and welcomes seniors who want independent living, assisted living, memory care, adult daycare, respite care, or rehabilitation, with each option tailored to fit what someone might need as time goes on, so you're looking at a senior living community where daily support comes from a friendly and attentive staff who sticks to round-the-clock care-there's always a nurse on duty, and an emergency call system in place if things get urgent. The buildings are modern, with wide-open community spaces, an elegant entrance, and a lot of thought put into making it feel warm and inviting, so residents have places indoors and out, including courtyards, lounges, a sports bar, a library, a chapel, and a movie theatre.

Residents get weekly housekeeping, laundry, and trash removal, plus maintenance taken care of by a dedicated Maintenance Director who keeps everything in good shape, so no one has to worry about chores or repairs, and Wi-Fi/high-speed internet runs throughout the community. There's a full-service restaurant that serves meals all day, chef-prepared and nutritious, with flexible dining hours, and if anyone wants a snack or a coffee, that's easy to get. Residents can stay active in a fitness center with scheduled exercise classes, and there's a wellness facility, too, for those who want to keep moving. Regular activities and events fill the calendar, planned by an Activities Director, so there's always something happening-devotional services, happy hours, social outings, movie nights, and educational events, plus off-site trips with transportation provided, whether for medical appointments or just fun. Beauty salon and barber services are right on campus, with appointments easy to set up.

Independent living means healthy seniors can enjoy a maintenance-free lifestyle with lots of chances to make friends and join in, while assisted living provides help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and medication reminders, so support's there as needs change, and staff always aim for dignity and privacy. Memory care is both state-of-the-art and focused on individual needs, especially for residents with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, using specialized wellness programs, therapies, and an indoor courtyard set apart for safety and comfort-plus, the Director of Emotional Wellbeing and the K9 division pay special attention to emotional care and pet therapy. Homes are made to be comfortable and stylish, with good space and top-notch amenities, and the community welcomes pets as part of its pet-friendly policy.

Concierge-level services cover things like personal driving and transportation, so it's easy to get around, and transfer help, wheelchair-accessible showers, and help with hospice care means serious health needs are handled respectfully and with care. The staff includes a Director of Nursing, an Assistant Director of Nursing, a Sales and Marketing Director, a Human Resources Director, and more, all working together to keep things running smoothly and make sure everyone feels at home. The Gables of Westerville keeps a strong focus on living with dignity and independence, helping people make friends and live well, which shows in its high community score of 9.9 from reviews and neighborhood livability. Amenities like all-day dining, a salon, fitness center, library, and perks like scheduled activities and transportation round things out, all in a place that celebrates kindness and community every day.
