    Warm attentive staff, homelike care

I'm very happy with our experience - the staff are warm, attentive and know residents by name, administration is responsive, and dietitians/teams communicate well. The food is consistently good and nutritious, activities and outings keep my loved one engaged, and the small, clean, apartment-style setting with bright studios, patios and lovely landscaping feels very homelike. My family felt reassured as my (mom/dad) settled in, socialized, and received personalized, caring support. Highly recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Forest Grove Beehive Assisted Living is consistently described as a small, homelike community with a strong emphasis on personalized caregiving. Families and visitors commonly note friendly, familiar staff who learn residents’ names, routine check-ins, and an environment that allows personal touches in private studios. The facility’s physical environment receives frequent praise: clean interiors, ample natural light, private apartments with kitchenettes and bathrooms, outdoor patios, well‑kept landscaping, and communal recreation spaces such as a TV room, piano area, and game tables.

Care and staffing are a central theme. Many accounts emphasize compassionate, attentive caregivers and an active 24-hour presence that contributes to residents’ sense of safety and well‑being. At the same time, staffing stability is a recurring operational weakness: several comments point to turnover, morale challenges, and periods of short staffing. Those issues correlate with operational impacts that families observed, including slower response times and inconsistent availability of personal care services such as showers.

Dining and activities are generally strengths. The community provides three meals a day, snacks, and menus that can be adapted to individual needs; multiple reviewers praised the quality and variety of meals and the responsiveness of dietary staff. The life‑enrichment program is described as robust, with daily activities (art, games, outings, patio socials) and an engaged activities coordinator who keeps residents occupied and socially connected. However, there are intermittent complaints about declining food quality or service inconsistencies and isolated dining-room service issues that prospective families may wish to clarify during a visit.

Facility features and location are often highlighted positively: private, apartment‑style studios, large windows, single-level circulation, outdoor garden areas, and a generally peaceful setting. Practical limitations mentioned include limited parking, some commenters’ concern about neighborhood safety, and a layout that can be challenging for newcomers to navigate. These are operational details that may affect day‑to‑day convenience and should be weighed alongside the community’s homelike character.

Management feedback is mixed. Several reviewers praised approachable administrators and an effective office manager who communicate well; others described director turnover and occasional communication gaps with families. An isolated, serious allegation was referenced in one removed review; that instance appears to be exceptional in the overall pattern but underscores the value of asking about recent incidents, leadership stability, and regulatory or inspection records during a tour. In summary, Forest Grove Beehive presents as a small, nurturing community with strong person‑centered strengths in caregiving, activities, and facility upkeep, offset by operational concerns tied to staffing consistency, leadership turnover, and a few service variability issues. Prospective residents and families should tour the community, meet current leadership and activity staff, and ask specific questions about staffing levels, turnover rates, bathing schedules, dining service practices, and parking to assess fit for their needs.

About Forest Grove Beehive Assisted Living

Forest Grove Beehive Assisted Living sits in a quiet neighborhood in Forest Grove, Oregon, and has been around since 1991, run by Caring Places Management, offering a comfortable place for older adults. There are 44 apartments, most with lots of natural light, each one has its own bathroom, emergency call devices, and phone and cable options, and they've got common areas with fireplaces, TVs, and big windows that look out onto pretty outdoor spaces. The main dining room has open seating, which means people can eat whenever they want, and the kitchen always has snacks available too, with three meals a day that are approved by a dietician, and they can handle special diets or food allergies. Housekeeping comes once a week, laundry and even dry cleaning are included, and there's a salon with a licensed beautician right there for haircuts.

Forest Grove Beehive has walking paths, a library, a movie night every so often, a garden out back where folks help with the flowers and veggies, and an arts room for crafts and activities. They have both staff-led and resident-run events so people can stay connected and active if they want to, plus there's transportation for group trips out of the building. Safety matters here, so they've got an electronic security system, smoke detectors, fire sprinklers, 24-hour call buttons in all the apartments and bathrooms, and the team has licensed nurses and professional caregivers on duty any time of day. Residents get help with bathing, dressing, getting around, managing medications, and things like that, so if someone needs more help, the staff can step in and assist. They support people who have trouble walking, and they'll help folks move in and get settled, which makes the first days easier.

For those who need memory care or have dementia, the Hawthorne House is right next door and is a special place with a single circular hallway so residents don't get lost, and they put names and decorations on each bedroom door to help folks feel at home and keep their dignity, giving each person a private bathroom as well, and it's all shaded under a big old walnut tree, with a nice fountain out front for sitting by. Medicaid funding is available for those who qualify, and the staff regularly checks in with residents to update their care plans, keeping things personal. The Forest Grove Beehive isn't the largest place out there, but it does try to offer most everything folks need to feel safe, supported, and part of a community.
