    Caring staff but operational problems

I'm grateful my loved one is cared for by warm, knowledgeable staff in a sunny, well-kept facility with good food, activities, smooth move-in, and strong memory-care support. I also witnessed worrying lapses - understaffing, delayed call buttons, dirty rooms/linen, hygiene neglect, occasional unprofessional behavior, and unclear meds/billing. Overall I'd recommend with caution: the caregivers are excellent but insist on close oversight and clear answers about staffing, cleanliness, nursing coverage and charges.

    About Farmington Square Medford

Farmington Square Medford sits in a peaceful spot and only offers memory care, so every bed is set up for folks who need help with Alzheimer's or other kinds of dementia, and the whole place is secure with friendly staff close by day and night, which helps everyone feel safe and cared for. This family-operated place belongs to Radiant Senior Living and keeps a homelike look inside, with comfortable couches and armchairs in shared spaces, a tidy courtyard with green grass and shady trees, and an inviting reception area with art and fresh flowers where people can sit and visit. They run two main programs called Transitions™ and Memory Care, which help folks whether they're noticing some forgetfulness for the first time or have had memory loss for a while, and care plans get changed as needs change, so if someone needs help with eating, bathing, dressing, getting around, or meds, assistance is right there, and care also covers incontinence, hygiene and safety checks. Staff handle medication management and even special diets like thickened or puréed foods if needed, and there's always a nurse around plus doctors on call if someone needs extra help, and staff can set up rides to appointments or bring in help from outside if it's needed. People living there get three home-style meals each day, planned by chefs who focus on nutrition, with homey dining rooms and sometimes even a private room if someone's celebrating a birthday or family gathering, and special awards in dining and activities show folks appreciate what's served and how things run. Every month there's a full calendar with activities, clubs, outings, and entertainment so residents have something to look forward to, and those who like to go outside can walk paved paths, rest in shady spots, or join friends in the lounges for conversation. Pets are welcome, which makes a difference for folks who like having a furry friend nearby, and the whole building, including bathrooms and showers, is set up for people using wheelchairs, and the rules don't allow smoking anywhere inside. There are studio and private units, each with a bathroom, closet, and emergency call system, and cable TV so everyone can set up their own space how they like it, and some layouts work for people who want to live with a spouse or even to have a female-only living option. Caregivers are trained in dementia and memory care and have a reputation for being kind, helpful, and patient, which has earned praise from residents' families, and the team helps with everything, from housekeeping to reminders about meals and checking in at night, all while aiming to help everyone keep as much independence as possible. The community's mission stays focused on creating a comfortable, caring place where folks with memory loss can feel at home, stay active, and keep up with friends, and there's hospice and respite care available for short or long stays if someone only needs help for a little while. Farmington Square Medford accepts both men and women, works with families looking for support, and helps veterans with long-term benefits, trying to meet every person where they are, whether it's early memory loss or more advanced dementia, and all the care gets matched to each person's needs most days, so folks have the chance to live life with comfort, respect, and dignity.
