    Attentive compassionate care, beautiful facility

I'm very pleased with Elmcroft - the nursing and care staff are attentive, compassionate, and communicative, and leadership is responsive. The grounds and rooms are beautiful and spotless, meals are healthy and plentiful, and there's a warm, home-like atmosphere with engaging activities and strong memory-care options. The move-in was smooth, my mom seems happy and safe, and I'd recommend this community to families seeking dedicated, professional care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Celebration Villa of Nittany Valley is characterized by a strong clinical and social program anchored by a consistently praised caregiving team and a well-kept, attractive physical plant. Families and visitors frequently highlight the facility’s compassionate staff, round‑the‑clock nursing availability, and a memory-care neighborhood with secure outdoor space. The community projects a homelike, light-filled atmosphere with on-site amenities that support daily life and social engagement.

Care and staff: Many families emphasize respectful, person-centered care that preserves resident dignity and individualized preferences. Long-tenured nursing and aide staff, along with visible leadership presence, are recurring strengths. Reviewers note proactive assistance during move-in and maintenance responsiveness. At the same time, there are operational weaknesses to consider: occasional inconsistencies in personal-care tasks and episodic inattentiveness were mentioned, and there were examples indicating gaps in privacy controls and in the tone or conduct of some aides. Prospective families should verify current staffing levels, care-assignment practices, and privacy protocols during a visit.

Dining and activities: The community offers an active calendar—exercise classes, music, art, bus outings, and other social programming—and many residents appeared engaged. Dining receives mixed but generally positive feedback: portions and chef involvement are praised, and the dining room is described as pleasant, yet individual meal preferences and occasional dissatisfaction are noted. Confirming menu flexibility and sampling meals on a tour can help align expectations.

Facilities and safety: The building and grounds are repeatedly described as clean, elegant, and well maintained, with accessible bathrooms, walk-in showers, and safety alarms. The memory-care unit includes locked access and a fenced outdoor area suited to residents with cognitive impairment. Layout and sightlines (one‑level areas, open plans) support supervision and a calming environment. A few comments referred to odor issues in certain common areas and variable room sizes; inspect unit options and communal spaces when touring.

Management and communication: Admissions staff and named team members received positive mention for helping families transition and communicating via phone or messaging apps. Maintenance responsiveness and individualized move-in accommodations are strengths. Conversely, reviewers noted intermittent unanswered emails, unclear upfront fee explanations, and limited respite offerings. Those are operational areas to clarify with management before committing.

Notable patterns and guidance: The dominant pattern is a community with strong relational care, active programming, and well-maintained facilities. Offsetting patterns include episodic variability in frontline staff responsiveness, privacy protocol gaps, and occasional dissatisfaction with food or value for cost. For prospective residents and families, recommended questions include current staffing ratios, sample care plans for residents with similar needs, fee disclosure and refund policies, respite availability, and a chance to observe mealtime and an activity session during a tour.

About Celebration Villa of Nittany Valley

Celebration Villa of Nittany Valley sits on a hill and overlooks Mt. Nittany, so you get nice views while you relax outside in a rocking chair, and this is a one-story community with a cozy feel, where you'll find friendly staff members who help residents live as independently as possible, and there are different levels of care, like Enhanced Personal Care, Assisted Living, Memory Care for people with Alzheimer's and dementia, Short-Term Respite Stay, and even Hospice Coordination for those who need it later on, and because it's a continuing care retirement community, folks can get more support right on the same campus if their needs change. The apartments come as studios, deluxe studios, and two-room suites, each with a private bathroom and a big closet, and every unit has an emergency call system to help keep residents safe, while the whole building has a full sprinkler system, and staff are trained and available all day and night, with a licensed Health Care Director on call at all times. There's a securely monitored Memory Care Neighborhood with programs like the Chronicles memory support using the Best Friends™ approach and "Along the Journey" to help those with memory loss, plus lots of serene outdoor spaces, like enclosed courtyards and raised garden beds where residents can enjoy the sun safely.

The place offers a good mix of social, spiritual, and health-focused activities, so residents get scheduled devotional services for both Catholic and Protestant faiths along with visits from a chaplain, while there's an on-site house of worship for those who want to attend services or pray quietly. Staff organize different kinds of fun and learning, with an activities director putting together daily events, outings, arts and crafts, movie nights in a theatre room, and programs such as reminiscence therapy and sensory-based activities like snoezelen, which are meant to help residents connect and feel engaged. The building has a beauty salon and a barber shop where folks can get a haircut or style for a small fee, spa features for relaxation, and there are plenty of indoor common areas, a bistro, billiard lounge, library, TV lounge, fireplace lounges, and several gardens with walking paths and rocking chairs. Guests and residents can gather in private dining rooms, or residents can help influence menu choices through community cuisine programs, and all meals plus basic utilities are included in the monthly fee-meals are served restaurant-style and the kitchen tries to accommodate preferences.

Residents who need help with daily things like dressing, bathing, or getting around can rely on staff for support, with extra services like housekeeping, laundry, and scheduled transportation on a community van for appointments, events, or shopping; some transportation is complimentary and some comes at cost, and there's even resident parking and access to local bus lines. Those needing physical therapy can get it onsite, and the community is wheelchair-friendly, with accessible showers and private bathrooms in every unit, while outdoor areas like the backyard, patio gardens, and secure memory care courtyard invite people to get fresh air or work in the raised beds if they like gardening.

Celebration Villa of Nittany Valley puts a focus on mental, social, and spiritual wellness, believing that good health covers more than just medicine, and offers life enrichment programs and activities meant to encourage friendships, hobbies, and ongoing learning. There's short-term respite care for those recovering from hospital stays or when a caregiver needs a break, with hospice, skilled nursing, and enhanced personal care all available as needs change. The community allows close pets by arrangement and offers Wi-Fi/high-speed internet for those wanting to stay connected. Priority Life Care manages the site, and people can take virtual tours online if they can't visit in person, which makes it easier to get a sense of the place before making any choices.
