    Friendly, attentive staff and activities

I've had a very positive experience here - the staff is friendly, attentive, and communicates promptly, and administration, nursing, dining and maintenance clearly work together. The place is clean, safe 24/7, with large rooms, private showers, plenty of activities (exercise, games, bingo, live entertainment) and supportive therapists. I'd recommend this community to families looking for attentive, active senior care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews present a mixed but largely positive picture of Complete Care at Riverview Ridge, with numerous comments praising staff warmth, an active programming calendar, a clean facility, and a capable dietary department. Many families and residents emphasize friendly, attentive nursing staff and aides, hands-on activity leadership, and visible teamwork across departments. At the same time, a subset of reviewers described operational and clinical concerns that warrant attention by prospective residents and families.

Care and clinical response: Many reviewers commend the nursing and therapy teams for attentive, person-centered care and for watching closely over residents' wellbeing. On the other hand, some reviewers raised concerns about the facility's consistency in responding to clinical events and escalating medical issues. These concerns center on delays or gaps in incident response and uneven follow-through when families seek urgent updates. Prospective residents should inquire about clinical escalation protocols, staffing ratios, and on-call procedures during a tour.

Staff and management: Staff are frequently described as kind, helpful, and family-oriented, with specific praise for supportive aides, an engaged activities director, and cooperative departmental teamwork. Maintenance responsiveness and administrative support are also noted positively in many accounts. Contrastingly, a number of comments point to inconsistent communication from management, occasional unprofessional conduct or brusque interactions, and failures of phone/email responsiveness. These patterns suggest variability in front-line communication and leadership responsiveness that families may want to probe further.

Dining and dietary services: The dietary department receives strong praise from several reviewers—described as fantastic and extremely helpful—while other reviewers expressed dissatisfaction with meal taste or menu fit for individual preferences. This indicates generally capable food services but variable satisfaction at the resident level; asking to sample meals and discussing special-diet accommodations is advisable.

Activities and social life: Activities are a clear strength. The facility offers a robust calendar including exercise, games, bingo, live entertainment, birthday celebrations, and special events such as senior week. Reviewers describe residents as engaged and active, and the activities director is noted as hands-on and attentive to resident enjoyment.

Facilities and environment: The physical plant is reported as clean, easy to navigate, and odor-free, with large rooms and private-shower options. The river-side location is an asset, though some reviewers note that hedges or landscaping can obstruct views and that walking space inside/outside is somewhat limited. Maintenance responsiveness is highlighted, which supports upkeep of the environment.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The dominant positive themes are compassionate staff, active programming, cleanliness, and strong dietary and maintenance support. The dominant concerns are inconsistent responsiveness—both clinical and communicative—and occasional issues with staff conduct and meal satisfaction. For families considering this facility, recommended next steps include an in-person visit focused on clinical-response policies, examples of family communication practices, meal sampling and special-diet handling, clarification of staffing levels, and a walk of the indoor and outdoor walking routes to assess mobility options and view access.

About Complete Care at Riverview Ridge

Complete Care at Riverview Ridge - CLOSED stood at 300 Courtright Ave. in the East End neighborhood of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where it once offered assisted living, personal care, and memory care services for seniors, and you know, folks could get help with things like bathing, dressing, meals made by a professional chef, medication management, and even special diets for allergies or diabetes, plus there were private rooms with things like air conditioning, kitchenettes, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and furnished options, so day-to-day living felt comfortable enough if you needed a little extra support. The place used to have activities for residents with music, movies, arts and crafts, a fitness center, a library, and group programs, plus communal spaces like a dining room, TV lounge, garden, and even a salon and game room, and some folks enjoyed the walking paths outside when the weather was nice; the staff was known for being friendly and, even though it sounds like a big place, it kept a peaceful, quiet feeling most of the time. There was a special emergency call system for safety, and the staff could help with high-acuity needs, including diabetic and incontinence care, and nursing care ran about 12 to 16 hours a day, which gave families peace of mind. Residents got services like housekeeping, laundry, and transportation too if they needed rides to appointments or social events, and amenities like Wi-Fi and television made it easy to stay in touch with family. This facility was listed as a personal care home, and it was licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, but after several flooding incidents caused by a burst pipe, the building needed repairs, and owners had to temporarily close it down, transferring about 50 residents to other locations or to their families. During the closure, code enforcement decided only one section could be open during repairs, but eventually all areas closed to residents, and since then, there's been no sign it reopened, so right now it's not offering services, and no apartments are listed for rent or sale. With a Walk Score of 38, people living there mostly needed cars, and the place was nestled near schools and neighborhoods like Sherman Hills, so while the staff always acted quickly in emergencies like the flooding, helping keep residents safe as the pipe bursts happened, Complete Care at Riverview Ridge - CLOSED is now off the market, and there's no plan available about when or if it might return.
