    Compassionate care, clean facility, satisfied

I'm very pleased with the compassionate, professional staff and nurses, effective therapy/rehab, clean facility, friendly administration, good dining and engaging activities - residents are clearly well cared for. Overall very positive; a couple minor areas could use improvement, but I would choose this place again.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews describe a facility with clear strengths in caregiver skill and therapeutic services alongside operational and communication weaknesses. Clinical strengths include consistently praised nursing staff and a highly regarded respiratory therapist, plus a broad suite of rehabilitation services (physical, occupational, and speech therapy) that many families found effective. Several reviews specifically emphasize compassionate, professional interactions from nurses and therapy teams and note outcomes that supported either discharge or longer-term placement decisions.

Dining and environmental aspects also receive favorable comments: multiple reviewers cited a pleasant dining experience, attentive housekeeping, clean common areas, and a welcoming atmosphere. Staff teamwork and a family-oriented culture are recurring positives, with administration and front-line employees described as friendly and supportive in many accounts. Activities programming and social engagement were noted as contributing to resident satisfaction in some accounts.

Counterbalancing those strengths are a number of operational concerns that appear repeatedly enough to suggest facility-level patterns. Communication gaps between clinical staff, administration, and families are prominent โ€” this includes voicemail/phone responsiveness issues and difficulty getting timely information from physician assistants or administrative staff. Relatedly, reviewers describe inconsistent responsiveness to call bells and requests, outdated nurse-call systems, and reports of limited night staffing or security coverage, which together raise concerns about monitoring and response capacity during off hours.

Care-process issues raised include variability in personal-care assistance and rehabilitation consistency, and specific mentions that fall-prevention measures and monitoring (for example, bed alarms) may be inadequate. There are also operational problems around supplies and inventory management, with some families reporting shortages of basic items. Financial and administrative clarity is another area to investigate: reviewers referenced unclear billing practices, an insurance/hold policy that families found opaque, and questions about contract availability for certain payers.

For prospective residents and families: the facility appears to deliver strong hands-on clinical care and effective therapy when staffed and supervised as expected, and many families reported positive experiences with staff demeanor and the environment. At the same time, prospective families should verify current practices in areas highlighted by reviewers โ€” specifically staffing levels (including night coverage), fall-prevention protocols and alarm systems, phone/voicemail responsiveness, supply availability, medication/clinical decision-making processes, and billing/insurance policies. Visiting in person, asking to see staffing schedules and clinical protocols, and requesting recent outcome or incident data will help clarify whether the operational concerns noted in reviews have been addressed.

    About Embassy of East Mountain

Embassy of East Mountain, located at 101 E Mountain Blvd, Wilkes-Barre, PA, runs as a long-term care and skilled nursing facility with a recent ownership change within the past year, and it can care for up to 120 residents with certified beds in a community that's all about giving support to people who need some extra help-folks find services here like assisted living, memory care, short-term respite care, independent living, and adult day programs right alongside skilled nursing, where a team handles everything from daily tasks to more complex needs like subacute care, cardiac care, therapy, diabetes care, wound care, and even pulmonary, cardiac, and hospice care for those that need it. Embassy Healthcare Holdings, Inc. owns the facility directly, with involvement from others like 2020 Gsr Dynasty LLC, and while the nurse staffing is reported at 3.50 hours per resident per day, a bit under the state average, the facility focuses on safe, supervised areas to help keep folks safe from accidents, while also offering good oversight and respiratory support for those who need it.

The place keeps a close eye on medical support-there are certified pharmacy services, medication help, mental wellness programs, licensed pharmacists, and medical support from podiatry to occupational therapy, speech and physical therapy, IV care, nutrition care, orthopedic and renal care, and even wound care. There's a call system and 24-hour supervision for safety at all hours. Residents or guests using respite care or therapies get personal support for things like bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, toileting, and medication, and each room comes with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, and all the basics like cable TV, telephone, wifi, and a computer center, plus housecleaning and linen services.

For daily living, the facility serves meals in restaurant-style dining rooms, where people can get special diets like diabetes-friendly meals or other nutrition needs, and there are also kitchenettes if folks want to do their own meal prep. There's a whole calendar of activities, from community-sponsored groups and resident-led get-togethers to trips out, arts and crafts, and education programs-plus a bunch of extras like a small library, beauty salon, fitness and gaming rooms, and outdoor gardens where people can relax or socialize any time they want. The property comes with guest parking, washers and dryers, lots of safety features like sprinkler systems, and full accessibility for those needing mobility support. Scheduled and on-demand transportation can help residents get to appointments or events, and those who want to join day programs or go on planned day trips have those options, too. The staff here are used to working with all kinds of needs, building a place that feels more like home and keeps comfort and privacy at the center, so whether someone lives here long term or is only there for short-term rehab or respite, they're able to get the care and support they need.
