    Cozy dementia-friendly community with improvements

I've been very pleased with the turnaround under new ownership - fresh paint, new furniture, tidy grounds and a little garden, along with a proactive, intelligent business manager. The staff are polite, caring and family-like; my dad is happier, more engaged, and the rooms and dining area are clean and pleasant. It's a cozy, dementia-friendly community that feels safe and delivers great value, so I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for Twilite Manor Adult Residential Care present a highly polarized picture, with repeated accounts of both committed, family-oriented caregiving and serious operational weaknesses. Many families highlight a small, cozy setting with staff who are personable, patient, and engaging โ€” attributes that some relatives say support residentsโ€™ comfort, socialization, and dementia-friendly routines. Improvements under new ownership and visible maintenance efforts (fresh paint, new furniture, garden upkeep) were noted positively and are credited with enhancing the environment by some observers.

Care and staffing descriptions vary considerably. Positive accounts emphasize attentive personal care assistants and administrative staff who provide hands-on help and Medicare planning. Conversely, other accounts cite inconsistent staffing levels, an overworked workforce, and gaps in clinical response. These latter concerns include delays in attending to resident needs, inconsistent medication management, and limited on-site clinical coverage at times. Such operational gaps are associated in some narratives with adverse outcomes and with heightened family concern about the facilityโ€™s ability to manage higher-acuity needs.

Dining and activities are reported unevenly. Several families praised meals and resident enjoyment of the dining experience, while others described limited menu variety and inconsistent meal quality and portions. The communityโ€™s small size facilitates outdoor activity and social engagement for some residents; organized activities and a dementia-aware approach were noted as strengths. However, reviewers also referenced variability in how consistently those activities and mealtimes are delivered.

Facility condition and safety present mixed impressions. Some reviewers described clean, comfortable rooms and an attractive yard and garden. Others described maintenance deficits such as wall damage, heating/cooling irregularities, odor issues in some areas, and pest-control concerns. Security and access-control features were cited as inconsistentโ€”examples included missing room locks and unusual gate arrangementsโ€”which contributed to unease for some families. Communication and hospital-transfer coordination were also described as inconsistent, with accounts of delayed transfers and limited responsiveness in crisis situations.

Management patterns are another notable theme. Several families credit a recent manager with a substantial turnaround and improved responsiveness, while other accounts point to prior management instability, leadership turnover, and serious governance concerns. There are mentions of regulatory inspections, police involvement, and alleged financial misconduct; those items have contributed to heightened family scrutiny and undermine confidence for some potential residents. Finally, reviewers expressed mixed views on cost and value: some consider the facility good value, while others view pricing as high relative to the level and consistency of services provided.

Taken together, the pattern suggests that Twilite Manor has strengths typical of a small, family-centered residential setting โ€” personal attention, a dementiaโ€‘aware orientation, and a close-knit atmosphere โ€” alongside operational risks tied to inconsistent staffing, maintenance variability, security and medication-management gaps, and management instability. Prospective residents and families should seek up-to-date information on current ownership and leadership, staffing ratios and clinical coverage, recent regulatory findings, and the facilityโ€™s current status (several reviewers indicate the facility is permanently closed) before making placement decisions.

About Twilite Manor Adult Residential Cr

Twilite Manor Adult Residential Cr sits in a quiet corner of Cayce, SC, made up of two brick homes that keep things feeling warm and homey for the people who live there, and you'll see it's licensed for 28 beds so it's not too big, not too small, just enough folks around to make friends or find a little peace in your own space. Families find some comfort knowing the place is fully fenced and locked, with staff on duty and awake all hours, and there are both private rooms and semi-private rooms with shared or non-shared baths depending on what someone needs, and some rooms are studios and others have one bedroom, plus all bathrooms are easy for wheelchairs with roll-in showers or tubs.

They provide adult residential care, assisted living, and memory care, so you see some people here getting a little help with things like bathing, dressing, or taking medicine, while others might need more supervision, especially folks with dementia or Alzheimer's, and there's a part of the building that's kept extra secure with alarms and fences so anyone who wants to wander can stay safe, and the staff go through regular dementia training so they know how best to help. Nurses are available both on call and on staff, and there's homecare on the property for anyone who needs more attention, with the place able to handle physical therapies, occupational or speech therapy, podiatrist and dental visits, hospice, and even help for people with diabetes, including blood sugar checks and insulin shots.

Meals come with vegetarian choices and snacks three times a day, and special diets like diabetes or food allergies get respected, with everything cooked on-site, and the dining style is flexible so people can eat when they like, not on a strict schedule. There's always something happening, like bingo, arts and crafts, movie nights in the theater room, and anyone who likes outdoor time can sit out in the garden, under the portico, or stroll those secure walking paths that keep everyone inside the gates. Staff encourage everyone to join in community events and outings, whether it's a picnic, shopping trip, or devotional service either on site or off, and for folks who are more homebody, there are places to relax indoors, including living rooms, a library, a community room, and there's Wi-Fi and TV, plus every corner is wheelchair accessible and safe for folks at risk of falls.

For those who want extra, you can get your hair done at the beauty shop or the barber, and there's regular housekeeping, laundry, and linen services included, and even dry cleaning for those who need it. They let you keep pets, but smoking is only allowed outdoors, so the indoor shared spaces stay clean, and the staff do make sure residents are always presentable and tidy, which sometimes goes a long way for dignity. There's a system for emergency alerts and supervision day and night, and the team helps with activities of daily living, but they also make sure people can keep as independent as possible, whether that's helping with transfers from the bed to wheelchair or just a reminder to take their medicine.

Twilite Manor Adult Residential Cr accepts payments from private sources, social security, veterans, and insurance, and they take Medicaid for those who qualify, but Medicare isn't accepted unless they're certified for it. The facility charges a community fee, fees for respite stays, and a one-time assisted living fee, but the staff are known around Cayce for being kind and willing to spend time with the residents to make them feel at home. The place tries to balance a good routine-so you'll see religious services, group activities, and movie nights, but also the freedom to spend some quiet time outdoors or in your room, and over the years folks have come to appreciate the balance of help and independence it offers, especially since people can stay as their needs change, moving from more independent living to more supportive care if needed.
