    Warm community, worship, attentive staff

I liked it there: warm community with regular Sunday worship and lively in-house singing, plus reliable transportation to doctors' appointments. Staff were attentive and I'd recommend it for comfortable senior living.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed picture. Several reviewers described positive aspects of daily life, particularly organized activities and transportation supports. On-site religious services and regular group music or singing sessions are called out as meaningful programming, and transportation to medical appointments is noted as a practical strength. Some reviewers expressed an overall liking for the community atmosphere.

However, multiple operational concerns recur across the feedback. There are sanitation and housekeeping deficiencies described at the room and unit level, including problems with linen availability and waste handling; reviewers also noted odor concerns in some areas. Relatedly, there are reports indicating pest-control concerns and claims that remediation efforts were slow or inadequate. Together these items suggest gaps in routine environmental maintenance and in the facility's ability to sustain expected cleanliness standards.

Care and staffing issues were also highlighted. Reviewers indicated staffing reliability problems and episodes of staffing disruption, which can affect daily care routines and responsiveness. Concerns about incontinence-care and waste-handling practices were raised, pointing to potential weaknesses in personal-care processes and housekeeping coordination. These comments suggest a need to verify staffing levels, shift coverage, and protocols for personal-care assistance during a tour or intake conversation.

Dining received negative mention in several summaries; reviewers characterized the food as inconsistent or of low appeal. That, combined with housekeeping and staffing concerns, suggests meal service continuity and quality should be discussed with management. On the positive side, the facility appears to offer meaningful social and spiritual activities that contribute to resident engagement.

Management and communication patterns are an important theme. Some reviewers described what they perceived as delayed or insufficient management responses to serious facility issues. This underscores the importance of asking prospective providers about incident-response protocols, pest-control contracts and timelines, linen and laundry procedures, staffing contingency plans, and family communication practices.

For prospective residents and families: verify current pest-control and housekeeping protocols, request information about linen and waste-handling procedures, ask about typical staffing ratios and how staffing disruptions are handled, sample the dining program if possible, and inquire about documented incident-response practices and recent corrective actions. These targeted questions can help determine whether the facility's operational practices meet your expectations and needs.

    About Carriage House of Florence

Carriage House of Florence gives seniors a place to live with assisted living and memory care, and you'll find that the care plans get tailored to fit what each person actually needs, whether that means daily help with things like bathing, dressing, or managing medicine, or maybe more hands-on care with issues like diabetes or memory problems, and they've got a secured memory care section where folks who have a habit of wandering get bracelets so they don't end up lost, and the staff is around 24 hours a day, so if anything comes up, help is nearby. Residents get three meals a day, made by chefs with attention to nutrition, and there's housekeeping and laundry service, so no one has to worry about chores, plus they have both private and semi-private rooms, some with full tubs and wheelchair accessible showers, which makes things easier, and they let folks age in place, so when needs change, people can stay in their home. The building has indoor and outdoor spaces for gathering or activities, and you'll see folks enjoying social programs, games, or devotional activities, with a beautician on site so folks can get a haircut or their nails done without leaving, and for those who need to get to appointments or want a ride for errands or group outings, there's transportation provided. They let people smoke outdoors, and there's parking for residents, which can mean a lot for people who still drive or have visitors. The staff can handle just about any care need, from incontinence to diabetes care, and they accept folks with behavioral challenges in their secured memory care area, which isn't always the case everywhere, and if someone needs physical, speech, occupational therapy, or needs to see a nurse or doctor, visiting professionals come by, so residents don't have to go far for care. Carriage House also provides respite or short-term care if someone can't stay home for a while, and hospice care is also available, which gives families peace of mind. This place focuses on giving seniors a supportive living space where they can keep their independence as much as possible, but get the right help when it's needed, and you'll find the atmosphere is no-frills and honest, more about comfort and care than fancy extras.
