    Mom thriving in caring community

I placed my mom here and I'm impressed - caring, collaborative staff (nurse Madison truly stands out), smooth operations, beautiful home-like facility with a new wing, gym, chapel and lovely grounds, chef-driven restaurant-style dining, and robust activities, therapy and transportation. My mom is very happy and thriving; I would gladly move in when I retire and highly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

The Manor presents as a well-maintained, attractive senior community with a clear continuum of care and a strong programmatic offering. Multiple reviews emphasize a home-like atmosphere, attractive grounds and common spaces (gazebo, chapel, library, movie/activity rooms), a newly renovated wing with fitness and activity spaces, and reasonably sized apartments. The facility offers assisted-living levels and skilled nursing, therapy services, and routine housekeeping and transportation, which supports residents who may require escalating care without moving off-site.

Care and staff receive mixed but generally positive commentary. Many families and visitors describe compassionate, engaged caregiving staff and specific staff members who made a strong impression; therapy and routine care needs are frequently described as being met. At the same time, there are consistent concerns about staffing consistency and responsiveness: reviewers describe periods when response times were slow or basic services lagged. These comments suggest variability in staffing levels or shift coverage rather than a uniform pattern of performance, so prospective families should inquire about current staffing ratios and on-call coverage.

Dining is a notable strength for some residents and a pain point for others. The Manor's on-site chef, restaurant-style dining, multiple dining venues, and entrée choices are cited positively by many reviewers, along with special events and wine options. Conversely, other accounts describe inconsistent meal quality, problems with temperature control and food presentation, limited meal variety at times, and occasional food-safety concerns. Service tone in dining and front-desk areas is also uneven: while some staff are praised for friendliness, others are described as curt or unprofessional. Visitors should taste the food, ask about menu rotation and kitchen safety protocols, and observe service during a meal service.

Activities and amenities are a strength: reviewers list a broad calendar that includes card groups, Bingo, themed tastings, holiday events, outings (symphony, shopping, medical appointments), and internal crafts and parties. Regular transportation and coordinated outings support social engagement and access to appointments. The primary amenity gap noted is the absence of an aquatic facility; otherwise the property and activity spaces are described as light, airy, and well-cared-for.

Management and cost issues show mixed signals. Several reviews praise front-line caregivers while noting that administrative escalation and responsiveness can be uneven; some families felt management did not fully resolve dining or service complaints. Concerns about rising fees and perceived value also recur, suggesting prospective residents should review contract terms, fee-increase policies, and sample current billing practices. Asking for recent menus, incident escalation procedures, and copies of service contracts can clarify expectations.

Overall, The Manor appears to offer a strong physical environment, a broad activities program, and the clinical services needed for a range of senior care levels. However, reviewers describe variability in staffing consistency, dining quality, and administrative follow-through. Prospective residents and families would benefit from an on-site visit that includes meeting caregiving and kitchen staff, sampling a meal, touring recently renovated areas, and discussing staffing ratios and escalation processes with management before making a placement decision.
