    Attentive staff, filthy rooms, unappetizing

I like the attentive owner and kind staff - there are regular activities, escorted outings, and good foot/hair care. My main complaints are a persistent foul smell, filthy rooms and bathrooms with plumbing/hygiene-supply issues, tiny shared rooms with no secure storage, and skimpy unappetizing meals. Staff genuinely care, but the building upkeep and food need prompt improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for this facility present a mixed picture. Several comments describe a small, privately owned home with an engaged owner and caregiving staff who demonstrate personable interactions, organize on-site activities (bingo, chair exercise) and coordinate social outings and holiday events with staff accompaniment. These accounts emphasize the facilityโ€™s small scale, available grooming and foot-care services, and positive family endorsements.

At the same time, there are consistent operational concerns across the reviews. Care-quality issues include inconsistent assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, oral care, and foot care; some families describe delays or gaps in these basic services. Staffing responsiveness and conduct are also variable, with some observers noting delays in attending to residents and an uneven tone in staffโ€“resident interactions. These concerns point to variability in staff training, supervision, or shift coverage.

Dining and nutrition are another recurrent area of concern. Reports describe small or inconsistent portion sizes, unappetizing or repetitive menu items, and snacks that appear outdated. There are also observations suggesting limited culinary oversight, which together indicate weaknesses in meal planning, portion control, and kitchen staffing or supervision.

Facility and environment issues include cleanliness and sanitation control deficiencies in certain common and private areas, plumbing and bathroom maintenance problems, and outdoor/common-area safety shortcomings (uneven walking surfaces and deteriorated outdoor seating). Room size is also a notable constraint: double-occupancy rooms are described as very small. Review comments further raise concerns about limited secure storage for resident valuables and inconsistent oversight of resident property and spending.

Activity programming shows inconsistency: while some accounts describe organized outings and regular activities with staff accompaniment, others note minimal activity options beyond repetitive games. This variability suggests that programming and transportation availability may depend on scheduling, staffing, or management priorities.

Management impressions are similarly mixed. Several reviewers praise the ownerโ€™s attentiveness and the kindness of many staff members, but operational gapsโ€”especially in cleanliness, meal service, maintenance, and personal-care consistencyโ€”indicate areas that require stronger oversight. Prospective residents and families should evaluate the facilityโ€™s written policies and daily practices during a visit: observe mealtime service, inspect resident rooms and common areas, review cleaning and maintenance schedules, confirm staff training and staffing ratios, ask about secure storage and financial safeguards, and request a current activity calendar and examples of recent outings. These checks will help determine whether the facilityโ€™s strengths align with an individualโ€™s care and lifestyle needs and whether management is actively addressing the noted operational weaknesses.

    About Oasis Residential Home Inc

Oasis Residential Home Inc, also called Oasis Adult Day Care and Oasis II-Special Populations, Inc., sits as a licensed 6-bed care community in South Carolina, where Ms. Mazie E. Graham serves as administrator and main contact, and you'll find staff who are helpful, joyful, and kind in their approach, forming a warm and welcoming setting for seniors. The place focuses on promoting independence and dignity, with services that meet the needs of each resident, whether someone needs help with showering, dressing, bathroom assistance, medication, or daily personal care, or if someone needs memory care with special plans for Alzheimer's or dementia because they've got dementia care waiver services and monitored units to help keep residents safe and supported. Rooms here can be private or semi-private, all fully furnished, with telephone access and emergency alert systems, and you'll find shared spaces too-a dining room with all-day, restaurant-style dining, a book room, a library, and community areas set up for activities and devotional gatherings.

Residents take part in daily scheduled activities, community evening events, game areas, and organized programs like movie nights and music or art activities that aim to keep folks active and engaged, socially and mentally and physically, while chefs prepare meals that taste good and fit various dietary restrictions including meals for diabetes, high blood pressure, and allergies. Staff coordinate transportation to doctor visits, errands, and spiritual services, and if someone needs to get their hair done there's a salon or barber right there, plus laundry and dry cleaning are available so the basics feel taken care of, and the staff will help with tasks like bathing, grooming, transfers, or incontinence care as needed.

For comfort and quality of life, residents spend time in the garden areas, outside spaces for fresh air and walks, a fitness room with a sauna or jacuzzi, and a community garden and arts area, with amenities focused on safety including a 24-hour call system and supervision. Oasis Residential Home has a BBB rating of A+ and operates with licenses from the Department of Health and Environmental Control and the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, and it offers both long-term care and short-term respite stays and hospice care if that becomes needed. Home care services and independent living options are available too if someone prefers to stay as active and independent as possible, and the staff tailor care plans to meet each person's needs and preferences, supporting both independence and personal choices, all in a home-like setting that feels relaxed and genuine.
