    Homey compassionate elder care recommended

I'm very satisfied with this clean, homey, elder-friendly facility - attractive amenities and home-cooked meals made my dad comfortable. Dawn and her team were compassionate, attentive, and treated us like family, supporting us through hospice and mourning with us. My dad felt safe and happy in his last months; this place was a godsend and I'd recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed but distinct pattern: many families praise the facility for compassionate, attentive caregiving and a homelike atmosphere, while a subset raise operational and communication concerns. Positive commentary centers on staff who provide emotional support, create a family-like tone, and offer attentive end-of-life/hospice care. Several accounts emphasize that residents experienced a strong sense of safety, well-being, and dignity during their stays, and they note clean, attractive common areas and amenities alongside home-style dining.

Care quality and staff behavior are a principal strength for many reviewers. Comments frequently highlight staff kindness, individualized attention, and an ability to support families through hospice and bereavement. These descriptions indicate consistent strengths in direct caregiving, resident comfort, and supportive interactions during transitions and end-of-life periods. At the same time, other reviewers describe instances of discourteous or unprofessional conduct and inconsistencies in how staff communicate with families, suggesting variability in staff tone and interpersonal consistency across shifts.

Dining and activities are generally viewed positively when described: reviewers mention home-cooked meals and a pleasant, homey dining experience. However, there are also accounts that point to inadequate or inconsistent meal portions or service at times, which suggests variability in meal-service continuity or staffing that affects dining reliability. Activities are less frequently discussed in these summaries but the facilityโ€™s atmosphere and amenities are described as comfortable and elder-friendly.

Facilities and cleanliness receive largely favorable comments about attractive, well-maintained spaces, though some reviews raise sanitation and cleanliness inconsistencies. Those concerns, together with reports about uneven infection-control adherence (for example, inconsistent application of COVID-related restrictions), point to operational variability in environmental services and infection-prevention practices.

Management, communication, and regulatory issues are the primary source of negative feedback. Several reviewers describe delays or unsatisfactory responses to complaints, and one reviewer noted a complaint filed with the state health authority (DHEC) alleging discriminatory conduct related to appearance. Telephone responsiveness and the tone of family communications are also cited as problematic in some accounts. Together these items suggest gaps in managerial follow-through, family engagement protocols, and consistent enforcement of staff conduct standards.

For prospective residents and families: the facility appears to offer strong, compassionate direct care and a comfortable, home-like environment in many cases, particularly for residents receiving hospice support. At the same time, the pattern of comments indicates variability in staff conduct, sanitation practices, meal-service consistency, infection-control adherence, and management responsiveness. An in-person visit is recommended to assess current staffing patterns and cleanliness; families should ask management about staff training for communication and dignity, complaint-resolution processes, infection-control protocols, meal-service schedules, and recent regulatory reviews or corrective actions.

    About Lakeview Assisted Living

Lakeview Assisted Living sits at 320 Camp Rd in Walhalla, and provides a bunch of different living options for seniors, like 2-bedroom apartments and shared rooms, plus private bathrooms, kitchenettes, air conditioning, and all those things like cable TV, telephone, and internet that folks like to have nowadays, and the place is set up for people who need help with everyday things, but want to keep some independence, so they've got staff from SENIOR Solutions on hand all day and night, helping with things like bathing, dressing, moving from bed to wheelchair, as well as medication management and checking insulin for diabetes, and they can even help you keep up with your prescriptions and meals, because three meals a day are cooked right there or delivered if needed, and they've got specialized menus for people who need diabetic or allergy-sensitive diets, and the building's always staffed, plus there's a supervised round-the-clock emergency call system in place for peace of mind, and security's running 24/7, too.

Residents can join fitness programs, group activities, movie nights, or just chat with neighbors in common indoor spots and dining areas, and there's a big focus on keeping active and social, whether that's with walking paths, community gardens, or scheduled events, and if you need more help, like with occupational or physical therapy, counseling, or moving in, they have special programs and move-in coordination to take care of that, and folks who need hospice care get palliative support right there as well.

Each apartment comes furnished if you want, and there's help with cleaning, laundry, dry cleaning, and even transportation if you need to run errands or go to group dining, and because Lakeview Assisted Living supports a range of backgrounds, people can pick care options that fit their needs, which is handy for changing health situations, and the staff helps folks keep their freedom by tweaking care depending on how much help someone wants.

The grounds include gardens and walking paths for a bit of fresh air, and everything's licensed by the Department of Health and Environmental Control, so care standards have to be met, and services focus on people 65 and older who need help day-to-day, and with folks from different backgrounds, the staff makes sure each person's support matches what they need, so if someone needs allergy care, assistance with home management, or even activities with Adult Day Cares or Senior Centers, the staff connects them, and since they're part of a network that covers Anderson, Oconee, and Walhalla, they've got resources for things like home meal delivery, insurance, home health supplies, and emergency response devices, so residents get pretty well-rounded support, and according to five reviews, Lakeview Assisted Living gets a 3.4 rating, which tells you that it's a solid, steady facility for seniors who need a place with a lot of help but also want to stay as independent as possible.
