    Spotless facility, caring proactive staff

I placed my loved one here and am very pleased - the brand-new, spotless facility is beautiful and homey with great common spaces (fireplace, lake, chapel), restaurant-style dining, accessible rooms, and plenty of activities. The staff and leadership are caring, professional, and proactive, memory care is well designed and engaging, and I would recommend this as a very good option.

    Summary of reviews

Dominion Senior Living of Athens is described overall as a modern, hotel-like community with strong aesthetic and amenity attributes. Reviewers consistently note attractive grounds, spacious and bright rooms, a scenic pond and porch areas, and contemporary, well-maintained common spaces. The building design emphasizes dementia-friendly layouts, accessible bathrooms, secure entry procedures, and features such as a chapel, salon, and on-site therapy that support a full-service senior living experience.

Care and staffing are a mixed picture. Many families praise compassionate, attentive caregivers, knowledgeable nursing and therapy staff, and a memory-care team that delivers engaging programming and individualized attention. Administration is often described as communicative and proactive, with quick maintenance response and family-focused practices including end-of-life support. However, there are recurring operational concerns tied to staffing consistency: reviewers identify weekend shortages, infrequent checks on residents at times, and variability in responsiveness. These patterns have been associated with supervision gaps in dementia care and risks related to transfers and falls. Additionally, there are isolated but serious allegations of inappropriate staff conduct; such claims warrant careful follow-up and verification with the provider and regulators.

Dining and activities are prominent strengths. The community offers restaurant-style dining with wait staff, varied menus, and generally well-liked meals; reviewers also praise frequent social events, diverse activity programming, outings, and an active Life Enrichment team. A few families noted portion sizes can be large for some residents and that meal quality has been uneven at times, suggesting monitoring of menu balance and resident preferences may be beneficial.

Housekeeping and day-to-day operations show overall cleanliness and good maintenance, but a subset of accounts describe inconsistent room cleaning and occasional sanitation concerns. Management responsiveness is frequently cited positively, yet the operational weaknesses above — notably variable staffing levels and supervision practices — represent the primary areas for improvement. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s strong amenities, active lifestyle programming, and generally compassionate staff against the need to confirm staffing patterns, dementia-care monitoring protocols, housekeeping consistency, and the facility’s processes for handling conduct concerns before making a placement decision.

About Dominion Senior Living of Athens

Dominion Senior Living of Athens sits on a peaceful ten-acre property between Knoxville and Chattanooga, where a white farmhouse-style building is surrounded by green lawns, tall trees, and a scenic pond, and you'll notice the inviting front porches with rows of rocking chairs and well-kept flower beds, making it a tranquil place for older adults. The community offers both assisted living and memory care services, so residents get support with daily needs like bathing, dressing, and medication reminders, and there are specially designed options for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia to help reduce confusion and wandering. Bedrooms in the Memory Care area have comfortable beds, bright windows, and modern furnishings, and all the hallways have handrails and lots of light, making it easier and safer for everyone to move around. Residents pass by a grand piano, cozy seating areas, bookshelves, and activity rooms during the day, and there are always board games or a pool table available for friendly games or checkers with neighbors. The dining rooms stand out with their wood beams, stylish chandeliers, and cushioned seats where chef-prepared meals are served to keep everyone nourished, while the outdoor courtyard offers quiet places to sit, fresh air, and flower paths to enjoy on a sunny afternoon, and you'll also see the walking path and sensory gardens that wrap around the grounds. The team's faith-based mission helps create a sense of respect and dignity for every resident, and there are regular spiritual, social, and wellness activities like worship services, group exercises, and outings organized each week, plus there's Wi-Fi in all common areas so families can visit and stay in touch. The community has a modern craftsman-style look inside with warm lighting, and private rooms come with emergency call systems to keep everyone safe, along with on-site rehabilitation and respite care services for those needing a short stay or extra help. A caring staff is always available 24 hours a day to assist with health needs and coordinate care, and they make care plans specific to each resident, updating them as needed so people feel secure as they age. With salon services, transportation, nutritious chef-prepared food, and plenty of places to relax or enjoy activities, Dominion Senior Living of Athens gives seniors a supportive, calm environment where people can live comfortably and maintain their independence as long as possible, all while being cared for by a family-owned team focused on service, faith, and community.
