    Warm staff, excellent memory-care amenities

I toured this two-year-old community and had a very positive experience. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and attentive - an amazing director of nursing and an administrator available 24/7. The building is well-kept, secure, and home-like with great food, varied activities, strong memory-care support, large common spaces, a screened porch and raised flower beds. My relative loves it here and I would recommend it to other families.

    Summary of reviews

Schilling Gardens is described primarily as a well-kept, recently built campus with a home-like, family-oriented culture. Many accounts emphasize compassionate, attentive staff and visible clinical leadership — including an engaged director of nursing and on-call administrators — which families connect to strong day-to-day care and support for memory-care residents. The facility's secure access and memory-care programming are noted as strengths for residents needing supervised living.

Dining is a clear positive for many families: reviewers mention a wide variety of meals, attractive dining spaces, and generally good food. At the same time, there are operational policies that families should confirm in advance, specifically limits on family dining in some circumstances. Social programming is active and includes regular group activities, visiting music/singing programs, volunteers, and outdoor options; however, activity offerings are described as more robust in some parts of the community than others, so individual expectations for daily programming should be discussed during a tour.

Physical spaces and amenities receive favorable comments: large common areas, a big screened-in porch, wheelchair-height raised garden beds, and a generally modern, well-maintained interior. Multiple families praised the facility's handling of weather events and other emergencies. The community's size and layout are a good fit for many residents, though a few families found the scale larger than they preferred.

Operationally, reviewers point to a handful of consistency issues to investigate during a visit. There are intermittent lapses in front-desk greeting and visitor responsiveness, and occasional gaps in appointment follow-up or communication that can create frustration for families. Cost is also a factor—daily rates are noted as relatively high—so prospective residents should compare pricing and included services. Several families recommend being proactive in raising concerns; advocacy appears to help resolve issues but is sometimes required.

Overall, Schilling Gardens is presented as a caring, well-managed community with strengths in staff engagement, dining, and facility maintenance. The fit will depend on individual preferences for community size, activity intensity, family-dining flexibility, and budget. Prospective residents and families would be advised to tour the neighborhood, ask about family-meal policies, observe front-desk interactions, and clarify how communication and follow-up are handled before committing.

    About Schilling Gardens

Schilling Gardens sits in a quiet spot, built to help seniors feel comfortable, safe, and cared for, with staff always on hand if someone needs a hand with medication, meals, or daily routines, and folks can choose from independent living, assisted living, memory care, or rehabilitation care, depending on what they might need right now or down the road. The staff stay friendly and well-trained, and they use unique programs and special ways like the Best Friends™ Approach in their memory care areas, which means they pay real attention to everyone's needs, especially for those living with memory loss or Alzheimer's, always providing plans and activities made for each person, in secure spaces where families don't have to worry about safety. The community puts a lot of effort into making life feel homey, from suites with warm colors, wooden beds, and dressers, to screened-in and open porches with comfortable seating where folks can sit outside among nice landscaping or walk along secure fenced paths, especially in the adult day care and memory care sections, and there's a spa-like bathroom with a walk-in tub and safety bars for easy, safe bathing. People don't get bored here, since there's a full calendar of social, educational, and fun activities, and rooms for gathering like the elegant dining room with natural light and set tables, common areas with couches and TVs, and a welcoming reception area with a fireplace in memory care, so everyone has a space to relax, watch some TV, or join in with others. Schilling Gardens also welcomes pets, keeps things easy for those with mobility needs through handicap-accessible features, offers parking and transport options, and stays close to parks, cafés, and important places like pharmacies and medical centers, making outings and errands simpler for both seniors and visiting families. Engaging activities and special programs help folks connect and make friends, and respite care is always there for families who need a break or temporary support. The staff help with everything-from managing medicine to organizing therapy and rehab for anyone dealing with recovery from an illness or ongoing medical needs, and they keep supervision 24 hours a day, which eases worries about being left alone in case someone needs help. Schilling Gardens is part of the Americare Senior Living group, stands out in community reviews, and holds a Seniorly Verified status, so people know it's checked and recognized, all while staying privately owned and locally run, with a focus on making sure residents have the support, social care, and comfort they need to enjoy their days and keep their independence as much as they can.
