    Clean facility with supportive staff

I'm very satisfied with our experience-clean, inviting facility with a gracious admissions director and friendly, qualified staff who are engaged, easy to talk to, and respond quickly. Their impeccable follow-up, calm supportive care during a crisis, and solid security made this a good fit for my mother's recovery; I strongly recommend contacting them with any concerns.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed picture of Parkway H & R. Several families praised the admissions team and front-line staff for being gracious, communicative, and recovery-oriented; these accounts describe a calm environment for short-term recovery, attentive follow-up during crises, and visible security measures. At the same time, other reviewers raised significant operational concerns that point to uneven performance across care domains.

Care quality appears variable. Positive comments reference very good individual care and speedy staff response in some cases, particularly for short-term rehabilitation. However, there are consistent themes about inconsistent monitoring and delays in attending to urgent needs. Reviews describe situations that suggest gaps in rounding practices, delayed responses to call cues, and instances where residents experienced lapses in scheduled care. Several reviews also raised concerns following a resident's death; those comments indicate families want clearer information on clinical oversight and post-event communication.

Staffing and staff conduct receive both praise and criticism. Many reviewers find staff qualified, engaged, and easy to speak with; those interactions include supportive crisis management and strong follow-up. Counterbalancing that, other reviewers describe variable staff engagement or inattentiveness, which suggests the facility may have uneven staffing levels, inconsistent training, or variability in accountability across shifts. Prospective families should consider asking about staffing ratios, staff turnover, and supervision practices.

Dining and activities are less prominent in the feedback but include important operational issues. There are comments indicating interruptions to meal service or instances where residents missed meals, pointing to unreliable meal-service continuity at times. Activity programming was not widely discussed; one reviewer described a calm setting appropriate for recovery but there is little detail about ongoing engagement or enrichment offerings.

Facilities and infection-control elements receive mostly positive notes on cleanliness and a welcoming atmosphere, along with acknowledgment of security measures. At the same time, some reviewers described incontinence-care concerns and sanitation-related issues, indicating uneven execution of personal-care routines and housekeeping in certain areas.

Management and transitions are a notable area of divergence. The admissions experience is frequently described as efficient and compassionate, with staff encouraging family communication. Conversely, the discharge and medication handoff processes are repeatedly criticized: reviewers cite long release procedures, medications not being transferred or coordinated with pharmacies, and confusing discharge communication. These comments suggest systemic gaps in medication-administration controls and discharge coordination rather than isolated clerical errors.

Notable patterns: strengths cluster around admissions, individual staff members, visible security, and short-term recovery fits. Weaknesses cluster around consistency โ€” in monitoring, responsiveness, incontinence care, meal delivery, and discharge/medication coordination. For prospective residents and families, recommended due diligence includes: observing staff rounds during a visit, asking about staffing ratios and turnover, reviewing the facility's medication reconciliation and discharge protocols, clarifying meal schedules and contingency plans, and seeking references from recent families. Verifying written policies and asking for examples of recent quality-improvement actions can help assess whether operational inconsistencies are being addressed.

    About Parkway H & R

Parkway Health and Rehabilitation Center sits at 200 S. Parkway W., Memphis, TN 38109, and is part of a healthcare network that runs several facilities and follows a strict code of conduct. The center provides skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, memory care, home care, and respite care, which means folks can get about any level of help they need, whether for a short stay or for the long term, and they've got professionals always around for both medical care and general support. Residents get a personal care plan from a team that includes nurses, therapists, dietary staff, social workers, and activity directors, so plans fit each person and what they need in daily life, whether help with bathing, dressing, medication, or getting to appointments.

Rooms have kitchenettes and come with cable TV, WiFi, telephones, and regular housekeeping, plus a 24-hour call system for emergencies, and meals can be customized for special diets, including those for diabetes. The community holds scheduled activities every day, and they've got group events to help residents stay social and engaged with the world around them, and there are inviting common areas, dining rooms, outdoor gardens, and spaces for activities, so people aren't just stuck in their rooms. Transportation gets arranged for medical appointments and errands, which can make things easier for residents who aren't driving anymore, and there's move-in help for new folks so the process doesn't feel so overwhelming.

Families and residents can ask staff about the daily therapy and activities program, which focuses on building up strength and mobility, and the staff try to make the place feel more comfortable than what many would think of when they hear the words "nursing home." Emergency room (ER) care and wait time information are available across multiple connected locations, which include area hospitals serving both adults and children, and facilities span several regional names like DeSoto, Crittenden, Golden Triangle, and others. Virtual tours, admissions help, and a detailed website offer plenty of information for prospective residents, and for anyone who wants to talk things through there's always a healthcare professional ready to explain the options.

The goal at Parkway Health and Rehabilitation Center is to maintain high standards of care and support, helping residents feel safe, respected, and as independent as possible, and the mix of assisted living, independent living with amenities, and memory care gives people and their families some peace of mind that needs will be met as circumstances change. Staff try to see residents as individuals, and work hard to bring a sense of renewal and comfort by offering recreational activities and reliable healthcare every day.
