    Caring attentive staff comfortable accommodations

I'm very pleased with the caring, attentive staff and nurses who answered questions and genuinely looked out for my mom's well-being. The recently remodeled, clean small-apartment rooms (TV, outdoor access) plus three good meals a day made this a comfortable, good-value choice. Activities and positive resident interaction keep people engaged, and the memory-care staff were experienced and compassionate-I'm grateful for the kindness shown during my father-in-law's last days.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Swan Manor presents as a small, value-oriented assisted living with strengths in cleanliness, private apartment-style rooms, and a consistently cited caregiving culture. Many reviewers highlighted compassionate, long-tenured staff and individualized kindness during difficult periods such as end-of-life care. The community's smaller scale and memory-care focus are viewed positively by families looking for a home-like setting with secure outdoor access and staff who engage residents.

Care and staffing: Reviews convey two parallel patterns. On the positive side, caregivers and nurses are often described as caring, attentive, and knowledgeable about memory-care needs; leadership and named staff members were singled out for helpful communication. However, operational strains appear present: families described limited staffing levels, signs of burnout, and inconsistent nursing coverage. Those operational gaps are associated with reduced one-on-one time for residents and variability in responsiveness. Prospective families should assess current staffing ratios and nurse-coverage schedules during a tour.

Dining and activities: The facility provides three daily meals with options and in-room TV and dining amenities that many families found acceptable or good. There are inconsistent comments about meal temperature and occasional cold service, so meal-service continuity may vary. Activity programming exists — bingo and front-area group programs were noted — but there are notable gaps in programming coverage for portions of the memory-care unit, where planned activities and back-area programming were described as limited or absent. Activity schedules and memory-care programming should be reviewed for the unit where a prospective resident would live.

Facilities and maintenance: Many rooms have been renovated and are described as spacious, clean, and apartment-like, which families appreciated. At the same time, the building shows signs of aging and has had recent repairs (including plumbing-related work), suggesting ongoing maintenance needs. While outdoor areas are generally secure and accessible, some reviews flagged outdoor-area cleanliness and maintenance concerns. Visitors should inspect both renovated units and older wings to evaluate lighting, condition, and ongoing repair activity.

Management and policies: Several families praised on-site leadership and positive communication, while others raised concerns about staff conduct and tone in select interactions. The facility operates under a restrictive visitation policy in some circumstances, which may limit visitor flexibility. Cost was repeatedly described as reasonable or low for the market, which some families saw as good value given the caregiving strengths.

Notable patterns and recommendation: Swan Manor appears to offer a caring, small-scale assisted living environment with strong personal attention from many staff and competitive pricing. Key trade-offs to evaluate in person are staffing consistency (especially nursing coverage), activity programming within the memory-care areas, and the condition of older wings versus renovated rooms. Prospective residents and families should tour multiple parts of the building, review current staffing schedules and activity calendars for the specific unit, and discuss visitation and maintenance plans with management before deciding.
