    Caring community with outstanding amenities

I'm very satisfied with The Landon - beautiful, well-kept grounds and apartments, warm welcoming staff (Kim, Nancy, Eileen and Sara especially), outstanding dining and desserts, and a top-notch Wellness Center/fitness team that helped a friend recover and regain stamina. Plenty of activities, helpful move-in support, and a family-like atmosphere make it an excellent choice for active, caring senior living.

    Summary of reviews

The Landon at Lake Highlands is consistently described as a clean, well‑maintained independent‑living community with an active wellness focus and broad amenity set. Reviewers highlight a staff culture characterized by longevity and warmth; front‑line team members and directors are frequently named for personalized attention, ease of transition, and a welcoming atmosphere for residents and families. The property presents apartment‑style living with full kitchens, in‑unit laundry hookups, garage/carport options, and a suite of on‑site services such as a salon, medical exam room, and short‑term rehab options.

Clinical and rehabilitative services are a clear strength. The community maintains a staffed Wellness Center, a well‑equipped fitness room, aquatics programming and balance training, and on‑site physical therapy and home‑health partnerships. Families credited these services with measurable improvements in mobility and stamina. Staff involved in wellness programming — notably the Wellness Director referenced in multiple comments — receive strong praise for exercise expertise and individualized guidance.

Dining and social life are prominent features of The Landon experience. The community offers chef‑prepared meals, flexible dining hours, three daily meals, and frequent social dining events (brunches, happy hours, live music). A broad calendar of on‑ and off‑site activities, clubs, and field trips supports social engagement, with many exercise classes and opportunities for small‑group interaction. Residents and families frequently describe the atmosphere as lively, family‑like, and supportive.

Recurring operational patterns worth noting for prospective residents: several reviewers described inconsistencies in kitchen performance and meal preparation quality at times, along with staffing pressures in dining service that can affect table service and menu continuity. Housekeeping quality was described as variable by some families. A number of comments tied changes in service consistency to ownership or management transitions, and some families reported difficulty getting certain operational concerns resolved promptly. The community is perceived by many as a premium option; however, others raised cost concerns including an entrance/endowment requirement and overall pricing that may be higher than alternatives.

Overall, The Landon appears to deliver strong wellness and social programming within a clean, professionally run campus that many residents and families describe as homey and engaging. Prospective residents who prioritize on‑site rehabilitation, active programming, and a stable caregiving team are likely to find the community appealing. Those for whom dining consistency, lower fees, or uniformly upscale finishes across every amenity are primary concerns should explore current management practices, recent ownership changes, and written service guarantees during visits and contract discussions.

You'll see the apartments come with different floor plans, from one to three bedrooms, and all sorts of features like walk-in showers, washers and dryer connections, walk-in closets, granite or stone countertops, mini blinds, alarm systems, and cable and fiber optic ready setups, plus you don't have to deal with your own trash or water bills since those are managed, and you can get extra storage if you need it, along with a pantry in your kitchen. The Landon at Lake Highlands has a business center, a fitness center with a gym, a heated pool, a library, an art studio, a rooftop terrace with city views, a theater room, billiards, and plenty of spaces to gather, including a champagne lounge and a grille & bistro, all meant to make life social and relaxing for older adults.

If you need a bit of help, staff can assist with daily things like bathing, dressing, medication, and getting around, and there's memory care for those with Alzheimer's or other kinds of dementia, with programs and safety measures if higher support is needed, plus the care concierge program helps answer questions or find resources when someone's unsure where to turn, and there's even access to home care, hospice, and respite care when short-term or specialized needs come up. You'll find regular scheduled tours, video and virtual tours, and a photo gallery for folks wanting to get a better look around.

There's always a person at the front desk, keeping access managed all day and night, and people get services like in-home dining, housekeeping every two weeks, transportation around town, a personal emergency response system, and a 24-hour courtesy patrol to help everyone feel safer, and the Living Gracefully approach tries to bring comfort and dignity to how residents live. They've got the Vibrant Living Program with plenty of events, a regular newsletter, and fun things to do, and you don't have to worry about maintenance or chores, as the community takes care of the little stuff so seniors can spend time on hobbies or with friends, and if something comes up, a long-term care ombudsman can help answer questions or sort things out.

The Landon at Lake Highlands used to be called Churchill Estates at Lake Highlands, and now keeps close to a maintenance-free lifestyle, letting older adults stay independent with help when they want it, and offers short-term leases if someone's not sure about a long-term move, while the staff stays warm, helpful, and ready to support each resident how they prefer while making things simple and keeping the focus on wellness, comfort, and relaxation.
