    Immaculate facility with excellent care

I had a very positive experience - move-in was smooth and the staff (nurses, CNAs, therapists and social workers) were welcoming, communicative and truly attentive. The facility is immaculate, bright and safe with roomy studios, a lovely courtyard, great dining and a full calendar of activities; rehab and medical care were excellent. I felt my loved one was well cared for and would recommend giving this community a look.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewers describe a facility with many clear strengths alongside recurring operational inconsistencies. Positive themes include consistently praised nursing teams, strong rehabilitation services (physical and occupational therapy), and proactive social-work assistance that helps with insurance and transitions home. The campus is frequently described as clean, bright, and well maintained, with pleasant grounds, a spacious dining room, and multiple common areas. Residents and families also highlight an active programming schedule — both on-site activities and outings — plus made-to-order meal options, snacks through the day, and helpful on-site amenities such as a beauty shop and shuttle service.

At the same time, reviews point to several systemic weaknesses that prospective residents should evaluate. Staffing stability and training appear variable: while many individual caregivers receive high praise, there are repeated accounts indicating turnover, uneven skill levels for higher-acuity needs, and delays in response time to calls for assistance. Related operational issues include inconsistent laundry/linen handling, variable weekend meal quality, and occasional transportation or phone-service unreliability. Clinical-process concerns are notable as well — reviewers cite gaps in medication administration controls, inconsistent adherence to individualized safety and respiratory protocols, and weaknesses in fall-prevention and post-fall response procedures.

Communication and management practices show mixed performance. Some family members single out specific staff and administrators for exceptional responsiveness and helpfulness during admissions and care planning; others describe difficulties getting timely callbacks or problem resolution. There are also serious integrity and safety concerns referenced by reviewers — missing personal items and at least one allegation of asset loss — as well as accounts of restrictive visitation or family-access challenges. In isolated but significant instances reviewers raised concerns following a resident's death and about end-of-life handling; those accounts suggest families should ask directly about clinical escalation, incident reporting, and grievance procedures.

Practical guidance for families considering this facility: verify current staffing levels and training for residents with complex needs, review medication administration and audit practices, confirm call-button placement and typical response times, and ask about laundry/linen policies and weekend meal staffing. Also request examples of how management addresses clinical incidents, family communication expectations, and protections for personal belongings. The facility demonstrates many strengths that support rehabilitation and quality-of-life, but the pattern of operational inconsistencies indicates that careful, specific questioning and an in-person visit are advisable to ensure a good fit for a particular resident’s needs.

About The Bartlett Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living

The Bartlett Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living sits in El Paso, TX, and has been family owned and locally operated since 1997, which means folks have run it themselves for a long time and care about the place. The staff here offer both skilled nursing and assisted living, so there's help for both short-term and long-term needs. There are 36 private studio apartments that give residents their own space, and the setting tries to feel more like a home than a hospital, which matters to some people. Residents get support with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and taking medicine, and the staff keep licensed nurses on duty or on call all day and night, with physicians on call ready to help. There's medication management, diabetic care, incontinence and non-ambulatory care, and other healthcare services to assist many different needs. The Bartlett also provides rehabilitation and comprehensive therapy, such as visits from a licensed physical therapist, and scheduled transport to doctors' appointments or activities, which helps take the worry out of getting around. The community provides meals, including five-star chef-prepared food with attention to preferences and dietary needs, and they handle weekly housekeeping and laundry, with all utilities paid except the phone. Residents get gentle reminders for meals and activities, and staff plan activities seven days a week for folks who want to join in. Parking is available and services are in place for those who need help going to appointments. The facility is licensed to offer assisted living, and has an administrator who's a licensed Assisted Living Manager. Reviews average around 3.7 out of 5 stars from 26 people.
