    Small caring family community recommended

I placed my mom here and have been very pleased - small, family-run community with hands-on owners (Victoria, Vilma) and staff who treat residents like family. Rooms are large and customizable with private baths, meals are homemade and fresh three times daily, and the grounds are peaceful with activities that keep residents engaged. Clean, compassionate, and communicative care gave us real peace of mind through routine and end-of-life support - I recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Abba Care Assisted Living B is described across reviews as a small, family-run assisted living with a strong emphasis on personalized, compassionate care. Reviewers consistently praised the caregiving team as hands-on, patient, and willing to go beyond basic requirements; management involvement—often named by staff and families—appears to drive a family-like culture and continuity of care. Several families highlighted effective hospice coordination and end-of-life support, noting proactive collaboration with external providers and communication that contributed to peaceful transitions.

Clinical supports and daily programming are notable strengths. The community offers on-site rehabilitative and exercise programming, regular activities (bingo, singing, church groups and holiday events), and encouragement for purposeful engagement. Dining is frequently cited positively: meals are described as homemade, fresh, and nutritious, prepared in small in-building kitchens. Practical resident services—barber/hair salon, prescription delivery, and large private rooms with en-suite bathrooms—contribute to resident comfort and independence.

The facility environment and location are generally seen as assets: clean, odor-free interiors, attractive grounds with a gazebo and a historic barn, and a quiet residential neighborhood that families find reassuring. Reviewers emphasize strong communication, quick responses to family inquiries and call buttons, and an organized approach to admissions and room customization. Many accounts convey long-term satisfaction, with examples of residents thriving and families expressing gratitude for peace of mind.

Notable patterns of concern center on operational consistency rather than systemic safety failures. A number of reviewers described occasions when staff were stretched by high-acuity needs or when timely assistance with activities of daily living was delayed; these observations suggest intermittent staffing pressure and variable responsiveness. A minority of comments pointed to dimly lit or aging sections of the building and the need for targeted maintenance or renovation. Activity participation also appears to vary by resident mobility and preference, so communal programming may not reach all residents equally. Admissions and tour experiences were generally positive but not uniformly so; a few families found the tour or initial interactions less informative or welcoming.

Overall, Abba Care Assisted Living B presents as a warm, individualized option with strong managerial involvement, quality homemade dining, and active social programming. Prospective residents and families should weigh the clear strengths in staff dedication and hospice coordination against the potential for occasional staffing strain and spot maintenance/lighting issues; visiting during mealtimes and activity periods and discussing expected ADL support levels will help set expectations and confirm fit.

About Abba Care Assisted Living B

Abba Care Assisted Living B sits in a well-kept, redbrick Colonial-style building on green, manicured grounds in Garland, Texas, and it's a medium-sized community licensed for up to 16 seniors, so everybody gets personal attention and support as needed, whether folks need daily help or more advanced care. The facility's been serving the area since 2003, and the founder's a home health nurse, which shows in the compassionate staff and hands-on management that care about keeping things home-like and comfortable for everyone. Every studio unit has a private bathroom, safety rails, emergency call lights, walk-in showers, and handlebars for safety, which can make things much easier and safer, and residents get 24-hour supervision, help with bathing, dressing, bathroom needs, medication management, and even nightly care if needed. There's assisted living, memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, hospice, and respite care for short-term stays, with nurses and staff able to handle special care like insulin management or wheelchair transfers if you ask.

Meals are home-cooked every day to suit medical diets like for diabetes or hypertension, so there's less worry about health needs, and meal services, linen, and housekeeping are provided regularly. Folks can spend time in common areas inside and out, including a library filled with books and puzzles, a movie room, gardens for walks, an exercise room with recumbent bikes and treadmills, and activity spaces for parties or gathering with family, which is good for folks who like privacy or group activities. There's a beauty shop onsite, recreation and fitness programs, music and art activities, animal therapy visits, board games, and safe outdoor relaxation areas. Community social nights, movie nights, clubs, workshops, and devotional services keep days structured and lively. Transportation and escorts are arranged for doctor's visits, shopping, personal errands, and church services, while the staff coordinate with healthcare providers to keep everyone healthy.

Abba Care's team creates personalized care plans and can adapt as health needs change. Caregivers support independence, but they're available around the clock for those who need help to move, evacuate, or transfer, which brings peace of mind to both seniors and families who might worry. Wi-Fi and parking are reliable, supervised exercise classes are part of the daily plan, and staff keep the building and grounds in good shape, which many folks appreciate. The facility is regulated by Texas's Department of Social Services under License #146477 and has a certification number of 101492, which means state oversight of the care and the building. The starting monthly cost is $3,000 and may change based on care needs, room choice, or amenities, and payment options include private pay, long-term care insurance, and Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits. There's a blog that shares information about geriatric care, and a photo gallery shows the facility for those who wish to see it before visiting. Abba Care Assisted Living B focuses on safe, simple, and respectful living, helping each person find comfort and support while remaining as independent as possible.
