    Bright, clean community; friendly staff

I toured and chose this community and I'm pleased overall - bright, updated and very clean with lovely, well-furnished apartments and airy common areas. The staff and management are consistently kind, professional and helpful, dining has good variety, and the active social calendar keeps residents engaged; I feel confident recommending it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive. Residents frequently praise the dining, activities, cleanliness, and staff — citing a consistently good experience and willingness to recommend Chandler's Square. While a few operational issues are noted, most reviewers emphasize that the community offers solid value and a pleasant living environment.

Staff and care quality: Staff performance is the most commonly cited strength. Multiple reviewers describe staff as kind, helpful, responsive, and consistent, with low turnover that contributes to stable relationships between residents and caregivers. Comments such as "wonderful staff," "responsive staff," and "like all staff" indicate broad satisfaction with the people who run the community and interact with residents daily. This stability in staffing is tied to positive perceptions of care quality and resident comfort.

Facilities and cleanliness: The physical environment receives frequent positive mention. Reviewers highlight clean common areas and a well-maintained community overall, with specific notes that apartments are "very nice" and the facility is "very clean." Cleanliness appears to be a consistent selling point and supports residents' impressions of good facility management and upkeep.

Dining: Dining is another strong theme. Residents note a variety of foods, describe meals as delicious, and appreciate that menu requests are accommodated. These repeated comments suggest the dining program is flexible and responsive to individual preferences, which enhances resident satisfaction with daily life.

Activities and social life: Reviewers consistently praise the activities program, describing it as "great," "very good," and offering "lots of activities." The program seems robust and contributes significantly to residents' quality of life. That said, there are occasional lapses — reviewers mention activity cancellations from time to time. While these cancellations appear infrequent and do not dominate the overall tone, they are a recurring, if minor, negative note.

Management and operations: Management is generally perceived positively, with staff responsiveness and low turnover reflecting well on leadership. However, a notable operational concern is staffing-related impacts on housekeeping: several reviews indicate staffing issues have affected the regularity of room cleaning schedules. This appears to be the main operational drawback cited and may be an area management should monitor and address to maintain resident satisfaction.

Costs and value: Multiple reviewers acknowledge rising costs but still consider Chandler's Square to offer good value. The combination of strong staffing, clean facilities, appealing dining, and a lively activities calendar seems to justify the expense for many residents, even as fees increase.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The dominant patterns are high marks for staff, cleanliness, dining, and activities, with stability (low turnover) reinforcing these positives. Areas for attention are limited but clear: ensure consistent housekeeping schedules despite staffing fluctuations, minimize activity cancellations, and communicate transparently about cost increases and what they cover. For prospective residents, the reviews paint Chandler's Square as a well-run community with strong social offerings and reliable staff — recommended overall, with a couple of manageable operational caveats to watch for.

    About Chandlers Square Retirement Community

Chandlers Square Retirement Community sits in Anacortes, Washington and offers independent living, assisted living, and some memory care services for seniors, with a team that includes CNAs, Med Techs, and several directors such as Life & Leisure, Culinary Services, and Health Wellness, all led by Executive Director Melissa Howlett. The community has 37 licensed beds, provides furnished apartments with studio and one-bedroom options available, and has a waitlist for two-bedroom ones, giving residents choices for how they want to live. Here, people can enjoy a quiet courtyard and gardens, walking trails, and ocean or water views, with plenty of spots for sitting outside or strolling around the grounds. There's a fitness center, game and movie night areas, a library, an arts room, and a private dining space that people use for family or special meals, while the main dining room serves a daily chef-prepared meal with balanced nutrition and has meal ticket options for those who'd like extra flexibility.

Chandlers Square brings services that cover life's needs for older adults, like meal service, housekeeping, laundry or dry cleaning, move-in coordination, and help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication management. Staff do daily wellness checks, keep up with monthly fire drills, and maintain a 24-hour security system, with safety features like a sprinkler system and emergency response pendants or pull cords in every bathroom. There's a strong focus on safety, with all staff receiving CPR training and a community-wide program in place. Residents use a mobile community app to check menus and activities, and there's a driver available Monday through Thursday for local rides in Anacortes. Some staff speak English, and service animals are welcome with a pet policy that asks for a $600 deposit, shots, and a note from the vet.

The facility offers memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia in spaces meant to help calm confusion and prevent wandering, but it's not a dedicated Memory Care or Skilled Nursing facility, so it helps people age in place as long as possible before moving to higher levels of care if needed. It can also offer hospice and rehabilitation support, plus day services and home care by referral, and works to help new residents settle in by offering social events, orientations, and moving help. The staff and residents in this continuing care retirement community are known for being friendly and kind, and there's a regular schedule of socials, happy hours, wellness activities, walking groups, and other programs to help everyone connect and get involved. The place has invested in sustainability with solar panels, and the building stays tidy, though sometimes there are staff shortages, but they manage to keep up with cleaning and maintenance. The community stays busy, offering events, entertainment, and meals with allergy-aware and diabetes-friendly choices, and there's a spirit of helpfulness and joy that makes it easier for residents to settle in and take part in activities as they like. Owned by Milestone Management, Chandlers Square Retirement Community focuses on providing services and amenities for older adults who want support, community, safety, and a bit of independence in daily life.
