    Compassionate attentive staff beautiful facility

I'm very grateful my mother lives here - the grounds and apartments are beautiful and spotless, and the dining is varied and restaurant-quality. The staff are kind, professional and attentive; caregivers, med-techs, front desk and leadership communicate consistently, coordinate with her physician, and truly treat residents like family (special thanks to Jillian Copeland). There's a full activities calendar, strong safety and hospice support, and the team genuinely cares for residents' physical and emotional needs, which gives our family peace of mind. Overall I'm very pleased and would recommend this compassionate, well-run community, with only a few minor things that could be tightened up.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Bainbridge Senior Living Madison Avenue House is described by many families as a warm, well-maintained community with attentive and professional staff. Positive comments focus on compassionate caregiving, knowledgeable med-techs and nurses, and leadership that takes a hands-on approach. The property and common areas are frequently characterized as updated and spotless, and reviewers repeatedly noted a family-like culture that supports residents through everyday living and end-of-life needs.

Care and staff: Reviewers emphasize strong interpersonal relationships between staff and residents — staff are described as respectful, knowledgeable about individual preferences, and willing to coordinate with outside physicians. There are several accounts of teams providing clinically appropriate support, hospice comfort, and proactive outreach to families when concerns arise. That said, a subset of reviewers described instances that indicate variability in care continuity and coordination; those comments suggest periodic gaps in how guest-care needs are routed and followed through across shifts or departments.

Dining, activities, and facilities: Dining is a frequently discussed strength, with multiple comments praising varied, nutritious menus and restaurant-quality preparation, plus a dining staff that contributes to a home-like atmosphere. However, there are also isolated negative impressions of the food, indicating variability in dining satisfaction for some residents. The community offers an active calendar with indoor and outdoor activities, outings, and amenities such as an on-site hair salon — factors many families cited as enhancing quality of life. The facility itself is described as modern, clean, and well-maintained.

Management and operations: Leadership is commonly described as engaged and communicative, with practices that give families reassurance during infection-control events and routine care. Positive notes include flexible, welcoming front-desk staff and organized teams that aim for seamless transitions. Operational concerns reflected in the reviews center on communication and transparency: some families raised issues about unclear billing or service additions and uneven communication when care plans change. These items point to opportunities for clearer, standardized processes for notifying families and documenting service changes.

Notable patterns and recommendation: The dominant pattern in the feedback is one of strong, compassionate caregiving supported by active leadership and attractive facilities. Prospective residents and families should consider confirming, during a tour or intake conversation, current practices for care continuity (shift handoffs and interdisciplinary communication), how the facility communicates care changes to families, and the billing policy for ancillary services or new fees. Sampling a meal and reviewing the activity calendar can help assess fit for personal preferences. Overall, the community appears to provide high-touch, personable care for many residents while having actionable areas to improve consistency and transparency.

About Bainbridge Senior Living Madison Avenue House

Bainbridge Senior Living Madison Avenue House stands on Bainbridge Island and has served as a family-owned community since 1990, offering 34 assisted living beds to seniors who want to keep their independence with help always close. The place feels more like a small hotel than a big facility, with comfortable, nicely decorated spaces that feel relaxing and welcoming, and the staff have a reputation for kindness and quality care. Apartments are light and roomy, some with kitchens and outside balconies, and residents can bring their pets along too. You get basic amenities like parking, internet, cable TV, housekeeping, laundry, and a full service game and activity room where people gather for arts, crafts, social outings, or group events. Meal services come with fresh, homemade breakfasts, lunches, and dinners set in a pleasant dining room, plus there's an in-house beauty salon for haircuts and grooming. Seniors here can choose from independent living, assisted living, respite care, or memory care for those who need extra help, and the community supports aging in place as needs change. Nurses and trained caregivers are on site 24/7, with help available for dressing, grooming, bathing, and mobility, along with medical care like wound support, medication help, and therapy. Doctors, dentists, and podiatrists come in, and there are also visits from therapists for physical, speech, and occupational therapy. Safety stays a focus with wheelchair-accessible showers, a sprinkler system, and handicap access throughout the building. Residents who need dementia support can stay in specially designed memory care areas meant to keep them safe and avoid confusion or wandering. If families want to try things out, respite care trial stays are available too. Transportation gets provided for outings, appointments, and errands, making it easier for folks to get around when driving's no longer easy. The staff believe each house should feel like home, so they pay attention to what every person needs, focusing on happiness, good food, security, and connection with others, all in a friendly, respectful environment. Long-term care insurance is accepted. Bainbridge Senior Living owns Madison Avenue House, along with three other locations on Bainbridge Island-Winslow Manor, Wyatt House, and Madrona House-allowing people to move between services as their needs change. The facility has picked up community awards for its activities and quality of care, but it's always about keeping the daily life of seniors filled with dignity, social connection, good meals, and thoughtful support.
