    Compassionate RN-led family-style attentive care

I placed my mom here and I'm so grateful - the owners and staff (Miki, Dee, Gabby and team) are warm, professional and truly attentive. RN-led, personalized care, clear communication, hospice support, home-cooked Asian meals, live music and engaging activities in a spotless, safe, family-like home gave us real peace of mind. Highly recommended; my only small wish would be a bit more routine weekend medical availability.

Recurrent themes include cleanliness, safety, personalized attention, and a sense of genuine caring that reviewers contrast favorably with larger facilities.

Care quality and clinical support: Reviewers highlight high-quality, individualized clinical care. Detailed individualized care plans and medication adjustments are specifically noted as improving residents’ moods and levels of engagement. The home is described as being dementia-aware and patient with residents who have cognitive impairment. Visiting doctors and dentists are available, which reviewers view as an important convenience and an indication of comprehensive care.

Staff and management: The staff are described repeatedly as attentive, compassionate, respectful, and responsive. Many reviews call out particular caregivers and managers by name and credit them for prompt communication and personal involvement. Owner or manager presence and involvement is seen as a positive factor that improves oversight and responsiveness. Families appreciate frequent updates, inclusion in care decisions, and staff who treat residents with dignity and empathy rather than as a transactional relationship.

Facilities and safety: The physical environment is consistently described as very clean, well-kept, comfortable, and safe. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the smaller adult family home setting feels safer than larger facilities, especially in the context of COVID-19. The facility’s COVID-19 safety protocols and facilitation of virtual visits (FaceTime) are noted as reassuring measures. Outdoor spaces are used for activities like outdoor lunches and pony visits, contributing to residents’ quality of life.

Dining and cultural accommodation: Meals are frequently praised as home-cooked, fresh, and tailored to resident preferences. Several reviews specifically note culturally appropriate meals for Asian residents, including regular Asian dishes and special treats, which families appreciated. The presence of fresh fruit and onsite chickens providing eggs was mentioned as an added personal, homey touch that contributes to a homelike dining experience.

Activities and social engagement: AFH at Silver Lake is described as offering a varied and engaging activity program. Notable recurring activities include a Friday sing-along with a live musician, visiting musicians, movie days, bingo, holiday celebrations, and even pony visits on sunny days. Reviewers emphasize that the smaller, more intimate setting provides more companionship and mental stimulation than larger facilities, which contributes to residents’ emotional well-being.

Communication and family involvement: Reviewers consistently praise the facility’s communication and its encouragement of family involvement. Staff are described as facilitating family participation in care, keeping families informed, and responding to requests and adjustments. The home’s approach to including families in decisions and its facilitation of virtual contact were specifically raised as beneficial during pandemic restrictions.

Notable patterns and limitations: The reviews are uniformly favorable, with frequent superlatives (“perfect place,” “angels on earth,” “best decision”) and multiple strong recommendations. No specific weaknesses, recurring complaints, or negative themes appear in these summaries. That uniform positivity suggests consistently high family satisfaction but also means there is little information in these summaries about potential downsides such as cost, staff turnover, wait times, or capacity constraints—topics not mentioned in the provided reviews.

Bottom line: Based on the provided reviews, AFH at Silver Lake, LLC is characterized as a small, well-run adult family home that emphasizes personalized, culturally sensitive care, meaningful activity programming, strong family communication, and a clean, safe environment. Families highlight hands-on management, compassionate staff, effective clinical and end-of-life care, and a homelike atmosphere that supports social engagement and emotional well-being. About AFH at Silver Lake, LLC

AFH at Silver Lake, LLC is an adult family home in Everett, Washington, found near pharmacies, parks, restaurants, and medical offices, where the owners Carl and Catherine manage a small, family-run setting with six private, fully wheelchair-accessible rooms in a garden-view house. The staff offer personalized care for people facing conditions like Alzheimer's, dementia, diabetes, Parkinson's, bariatric needs, and mental health challenges, and they know how to provide support for those who need IV medications, tube feeding, ventilator or trach care, insulin, behavioral health focus, or hospice support, all with a professional, 24/7 awake team, on-call RN, and caregivers trained in respectful, knowledgeable dementia care who approach every resident with patience and compassion, making sure everyone gets the individual attention and help they need-from incontinence care and dressing wounds to help with bathing and medication management. The place suits people with many different funding needs as they take Medicaid right away, Medicaid spend down, VA contracts, and private pay, and they're LGBT+ friendly, allow personal pets, and respect food preferences, with daily home-cooked meals, Asian dishes, and other ethnic treats served restaurant-style or by room service, even offering vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, low-sodium, and kosher meals if asked, in a dining area or in rooms. Residents can choose between private or semi-private rooms, and bathrooms are designed for safe wheelchair or walker use, with walk-in tubs and showers, plus shared or private bathroom options. They have equipment for everyone's safety, like Hoyer lifts for two-person transfers and full handicap accessibility, and the whole home has air conditioning, central heat, Wi-Fi, and cable. People needing memory care are welcomed, with safety features aimed at reducing wandering or confusion, and they also support people who have trouble moving with arthritis or congestive heart failure.

Many enjoy indoor and outdoor common areas for socializing, relaxing, and activities. The staff set up daily schedules packed with different options including art or cooking classes, wine tasting, gardening club, live performances, karaoke, stretching, chair yoga, happy hour, and spiritual support. Senior-friendly technology and high-speed internet help residents stay in touch with family, and they offer help with phones, hearing aids, and special internet plans for older adults. Staff keep strong safety protocols for COVID-19, like FaceTime or visits through windows, and the team keeps in close touch with families about medication or care plan changes. The place welcomes people at many care levels by serving as an adult care home, assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing option, with support for behavioral health, TBI, insulin needs, TPN, and development disabilities as well, plus medical alerts and senior security options. The monthly fee for a private or semi-private room is $8,500, and families say the community has a warm, family setting, with direct pharmacy delivery, visiting doctors, laundry and housekeeping services, plus access to local transportation for outings. The team makes every effort to provide a respectful and loving environment, following detailed care plans, honoring cultural and food traditions, and welcoming people from all backgrounds, making AFH at Silver Lake, LLC a place where compassionate caregivers help residents stay comfortable, safe, and connected in their later years.
