    Compassionate attentive family-run home care

I'm very pleased with the compassionate, attentive, family-run team at this Gig Harbor home - caregivers are skilled and personalized, communication is clear, rooms are private, quiet and clean, and meals and visits have been enjoyable. I highly recommend it; it's warm, safe and home-like, with just a few minor areas that could be tightened up.

About Harbor Heritage Adult Family Home

Harbor Heritage Adult Family Home in Gig Harbor, Washington, offers care in a home-like setting with three houses named Rosemount House, Rosewood House, and Peacock Hill House, and each one has its own distinct feel but you'll always find thoughtful staff around who help day and night with things like getting up, repositioning, bathing, and daily needs, including big things like wound care, oxygen therapy, diabetes checks, and medication management, and small things like laundry, house cleaning, or meal preparation and snacks, and you'll see plenty of pets wandering around since they welcome cats and dogs if they fit the rules, and the rooms are simple but comfortable whether someone chooses a private or semi-private spot, and the closets are spacious enough for little touches from home. The staff manages detailed daily health checks, physician and nurse visits, memory care for dementia and Alzheimer's, care for people with Parkinson's, strokes, and mental health challenges, plus custom plans for each resident and help with feeding whether someone needs spoon feeding, tube feeding, or pureed meals, and the kitchen keeps up with special needs including kosher or vegetarian diets. Residents and families see staff in and out, offering massage, therapy on-site, dental hygiene, podiatry, pharmacy runs, rehab like physical and occupational therapy, and even palliative and hospice care toward the end, and there's a full falls prevention program too, so people don't have to worry so much about getting hurt while moving around or lying down. There are pet-friendly patios with fruit trees and flowers, accessible decks, gardens, and plenty of paths for walks and outdoor activities ranging from gardening and walks to birthday parties, bingo, painting, music programs, movie nights, and plenty of room for music and dancing, and if spiritual support matters, there are Bible studies and devotional services both at the home and sometimes offsite. Each house has safety features like emergency buttons, 24-hour secured entries, high-speed guest Wi-Fi, cable or satellite TV, air conditioning, a backup generator, and accessible showers for wheelchairs and walkers. You'll find help arranging transportation or outings nearby since the homes sit close to hospitals and bus lines, and the staff stays close for any wellness appointments or care needs, providing respite services too so caregivers get a break when they need one. Visiting hours are every day from 9am to 8pm, and there's a close-knit mood here because there are only a few residents living together-just four to six depending on the house-so folks and their families build trusting relationships with both staff and neighbors, and the setting stays quieter than a big assisted living place and people often get to personalize their spaces with their own items, making it feel more like home.
