    Warm attentive family-run care home

I placed my mom at Golden Years and felt immediate relief - the small, family-run home is warm, clean, and secure with a lovely fenced courtyard and country views. The staff and owner Tianna are attentive, patient and truly go above and beyond with compassionate, personalized care, home-cooked meals, excellent communication, and steady support through her final months, so I felt confident and comforted every step of the way.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment: Reviews for Golden Years Personal Care are overwhelmingly positive, with repeated emphasis on compassionate, individualized caregiving delivered in a small, homelike setting. Reviewers consistently describe the facility as family-owned and family-run, with owners and staff who treat residents and families like members of their own family. Across multiple accounts the environment is depicted as warm, safe, and welcoming, and families report confidence and peace of mind when placing loved ones there.

Care quality and staff: The dominant theme across reviews is the high caliber of the caregiving staff. Caregivers are repeatedly described as kind, patient, attentive, and willing to go above and beyond normal expectations. Families report that staff get to know residents as individuals — their needs, preferences, and personalities — which leads to truly individualized care. Several reviews highlight strong support through residents’ final days, with staff present and supportive during vigils and end-of-life transitions. Reviewers also note that nursing/staff competence extends to dementia and hospice care, suggesting both emotional and clinical capabilities. Communication with families and the broader care team is cited frequently as clear and timely, which contributes to families’ trust.

Management and culture: Management presence and owner involvement are recurring positives. The owner (referred to as Tianna/Tiana in reviews) is portrayed as hands-on, invested in both resident well-being and staff support, and as someone who communicates well with families. Reviewers recount personal acts of generosity from the owners and management — from providing space for family vigils to personally cooking meals — reinforcing the sense of a family-like culture. The facility’s small size contributes to continuity of staff and a close-knit environment; staff consistency is mentioned as a key factor in building relationships and delivering steady, reliable care.

Facilities, setting, and safety: The physical facility is described as clean, comfortable, and home-like rather than institutional. Features frequently mentioned include large windows with pleasant views, a secure enclosed courtyard for outdoor enjoyment, seasonal decorations, comfortable seating and visiting spaces, and safe wandering with supervision for residents with dementia. The rural, quiet country atmosphere — including views of trees and visiting deer — is highlighted as a favorable attribute for families seeking a peaceful setting. Security and cleanliness are emphasized, contributing further to family confidence in placing loved ones there.

Dining, services, and clinical support: Reviewers point to home-cooked meals and specific small pleasures (like good coffee) as part of the homelike experience. Several families note hospice support and competent nursing care during serious illness, including attentive care in residents’ final months. Practical aspects of care are also cited positively: timely admissions, in-home evaluations, and involvement of doctors when needed. The facility is also noted as competitively priced or “best priced,” which some reviewers considered when choosing Golden Years.

Patterns, notable strengths, and considerations: Patterns that stand out are consistent staff presence, strong family-style culture, and reliable, compassionate end-of-life care. Multiple families explicitly state they would confidently place a loved one there, and many express gratitude for the staff’s dedication. There are few if any criticisms in the collected summaries; the only neutral facts that could be considerations for prospects are the facility’s small size and rural location. While these are presented positively by reviewers (contributing to personalized care and a quiet setting), prospective families should understand that a small, rural personal care home may have limited capacity and may not offer the scale of services or activity programming found in larger facilities. If specific specialized medical services, extensive on-site therapies, or a broad activity calendar are priorities, callers should ask management directly about availability and referrals.

Conclusion: Golden Years Personal Care presents as a highly regarded, small, family-operated personal care home where staff consistency, individualized attention, and a warm, homelike environment are the defining features. Reviews consistently praise the caregiver team, owner involvement, cleanliness, secure outdoor space, home-cooked meals, and compassionate hospice/dementia care. Families repeatedly report that residents are happy, respected, and well cared for, and many describe the facility as a clear choice for end-of-life and memory-care needs. Prospective families should verify capacity and any specific clinical needs, but overall the reviews indicate a facility that delivers compassionate, personalized care in a safe, welcoming setting.

    About Golden Years Personal Care

Golden Years Personal Care, also known as Golden Years Partners, Inc., sits on five wooded acres just outside Port Angeles, WA, with views of the Olympic Mountains and a quiet country feel, and has been serving seniors since 1992; it's a licensed assisted living facility with 16 licensed beds and 16 WHCA beds, offering a mix of larger assisted living and smaller Board and Care home settings, so some folks live in an apartment or condo-style space with 24-hour supervision, while others enjoy a more intimate residence in a neighborhood home where a few residents live and receive care together. Ms. Roseann Roper leads the team as President and main contact, and the administrator for the Tumwater address is Tiana Fitzsimmons; the facility provides memory care for those living with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia, and has in-place safety, caregiver-to-resident ratio, and state inspection requirements. Residents can get help with daily tasks like dressing, bathing, moving around, and taking medicine, plus there's specialized care for those who need hospice, respite, or support with advanced needs, and the team coordinates with healthcare providers as necessary.

Monthly rent includes home-cooked nutritious meals-one or two each day-help with bathing, dressing, and medication, housekeeping, and laundry services, all designed to keep life simple and safe. Folks can pick furnished or unfurnished rooms in two sizes, with some having private rooms and shared or ADA accessible bathrooms; there's a big living room space for socializing, walking paths, a garden, scheduled transportation for errands or appointments, and plenty of parking, so residents can keep busy and connected to the broader community. The facility runs organized activities, movie nights, and community events to help everyone stay active and meet new friends, with activity programs tailored for memory care residents, and there's always someone around in case of emergency since supervision goes round the clock. For meals, residents with allergies or special diets get accommodations, and everyone can use telephone access in their rooms for staying in touch with family.

Golden Years Personal Care isn't BBB accredited, but it's properly licensed and complies with health and safety regulations required by the state. The facility's main focus lies in promoting independence while supplying the help seniors need day to day, making it a reliable place for older adults in the Port Angeles area who need various levels of support but want to stay as self-sufficient as possible in a home-like setting surrounded by natural beauty.
