    Spotless facility with caring staff

I placed my mom here and have been very satisfied. The facility is spotless, rooms are roomy and homey, and the staff are warm, caring and very proactive with medications and family communication. Meals are generally good, there are lots of activities (arts & crafts, bingo, movies, outings) and memory care staff have been phenomenal. Good value, safe and welcoming - I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Brighton Court presents a mixed picture: many families and visitors describe a warm, small-scale assisted living environment with compassionate caregivers, an engaged activities director, and a variety of social programs, while a subset of accounts raises operational concerns that merit direct follow-up.

Care quality and clinical oversight: Several reviewers praised proactive medication coordination, timely family communication about falls and incidents, and attentive, compassionate caregiving—especially within memory-care programs. Conversely, other accounts describe inconsistent clinical coverage, limited nurse availability at times, and concerns about incontinence-care responsiveness. There is also at least one reference to a regulatory complaint and related serious allegations; that information should be clarified with the facility and the state licensing authority prior to placement.

Staff and culture: Many comments highlight friendly, helpful staff, engaged caregivers, and a home-like atmosphere. Memory-care staff are repeatedly singled out for positive interactions. At the same time, reviewers note variability in staff conduct (including front-desk interactions) and occasional short staffing, particularly on weekends and during staff absences. Leadership turnover or management inconsistency is a recurring theme that appears to affect day-to-day operations and resident experience.

Dining: Opinions about meals are mixed. Some residents and families describe homemade-quality meals, appropriate portioning, and accommodating service. Others describe inconsistent food quality, unclear menus, and concerns about the kitchen budget or preparation methods. Prospective residents with specific dietary needs should confirm menu cycles, special-diet accommodations, and how nutrition preferences are managed.

Activities and social life: The facility offers a robust activity slate when staffing allows: arts and crafts, bingo, movie nights, live musicians, holiday programs, outings, and gardening. A facility therapy/mascot dog is noted positively. Activity programming continuity has been disrupted at times by infection-control measures and staffing constraints, which can reduce frequency of outings and events.

Facilities and upkeep: Internally the building is often described as clean and recently updated with modern furniture and artwork; residents appreciate private bathrooms and bright rooms. Exterior areas and some common spaces show signs of aging, and a few visitors describe cleanliness or odor concerns in specific areas. Grounds, garden beds, patios, and an on-site salon are positive physical features. Prospective visitors should inspect multiple common areas and sample meal service during a visit.

Management, transparency, and policies: Reviewers flagged issues around intake, billing, pricing transparency, and clarity of policies (for example, spouse overnight rules). There are also mentions of guest-parking and perimeter security limitations. Given these recurring themes—and the reference to a regulatory complaint—families should request written policy documents, clear pricing schedules, staffing ratios, and the facility’s most recent state inspection reports.

Overall impression and recommended steps: Brighton Court appears to offer strong personalized care for many residents, particularly in memory care and social programming, within a small, home-like setting. However, variability in staffing, dining, sanitation responsiveness, clinical coverage, and management transparency are notable patterns. Prospective families would benefit from targeted questions during a tour: staffing levels by shift and weekend coverage, on-call clinical resources and medication protocols, sanitation and incontinence-care procedures, dining menus and special-diet accommodations, transportation options for medical appointments, and documentation of licensing/complaint history. An in-person visit during an active mealtime and an activities period can help confirm whether the day-to-day experience aligns with the aspects most important to a given resident.

    About Brighton Court Assisted Living

Sapphire at Brighton Court sits in Spokane Valley, Washington, and is part of Sapphire Health Services, which has over 25 years of experience with senior care and housing, and the whole place focuses on respect, dignity, and a feeling of belonging for everyone who lives or works there, and they really do keep things comfortable by offering 49 private apartments, each being a self-contained unit with private bathrooms, including 36 assisted living apartments and a secure memory care wing with 13 apartments for those with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. The staff provides help with daily tasks like dressing, bathing, and medication, and a full-time nurse is always on call, with 24-hour certified staff on-site, and there's even a monthly foot care clinic plus a whirlpool spa tub, so residents get the regular support and amenities they need. The facility is fully licensed for 55 beds and includes amenities such as air conditioning, internet, cable, a solarium with an aviary, library, garden, patios, a large-screen TV with Wii gaming in the lounge, and there's also a beauty and barber shop on-site, making it easy for residents to take care of daily needs and enjoy their hobbies. Dining is a priority-they serve three meals a day prepared by chefs and meal planners, using fresh ingredients, and they can accommodate special diets like diabetic care, so residents get balanced nutrition, and everyone eats together in the community dining room, which helps with social connections. Every day brings new activities meant to help people stay engaged with one another, and there are programs for physical fitness, social events, day trips, and memory activities tailored for those who need them, with scheduled transportation available for outings and appointments. Housekeeping and laundry get taken care of, so people can focus on what matters most to them-whether that's enjoying the garden, using the library, or just relaxing in their own private space. The whole idea is to help residents stay as independent as possible, adjusting the level of help if someone's needs change, and they take Medicaid for those who need it, which helps make things easier for some families. Executive Director Bethany King leads the team, and the approach at Sapphire at Brighton Court is to always promote the highest quality of life for everyone in the community, whether that means providing daily support, offering dementia care, organizing wellness programs, or simply designing the place to feel as much like home as possible.
