    About Station House Apartments

Station House Apartments - CLOSED in Antigo, WI, was once a place where seniors and families could find affordable housing in an old train station downtown, and the building had a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with high-end finishes like granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors, and even though you could walk right out to parks or into nearby shops and restaurants, no one's living there now because the facility is closed. When it did operate, folks had access to spacious, open-concept apartments with air conditioning, private bathrooms, cable TV, kitchenettes, and Wi-Fi, and several units were made for seniors and people with disabilities, including pet-friendly and handicap accessible options, and the decorated foyer led to a big community room where neighbors could share meals, play games, or join in movie nights or scheduled activities. You could find walking paths, a garden, a library, a business room, and even a fitness and wellness area on the property, and a bus stop nearby made it easy to get around town for shopping or appointments, plus off-street parking and lawn care made daily life easier for the people living there, and the staff provided 24-hour emergency maintenance, on-site management, and a secure building with intercom entry, trying to keep things running smoothly.

Station House worked with programs like Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, LIHTC, USDA Section 521 Rental Assistance, and the USDA Section 515 Rural Rental Housing, which made some units more affordable for those meeting income limits, and it meant residents saw units with better upkeep and more amenities. The community used to be part of a larger set of services so someone might start with independent living and later need assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing, and back then, there was help with daily living tasks, medication management, bathing, transfers, meals with choices for dietary needs, and even round-the-clock care if needed, and that covered both long-term and short-term respite stays for families needing a break. There were special memory care areas for those living with dementia, with secure entries, tougher supervision, and activities to help with memory and social time. The management, which was handled by Antigo Housing Authority and possibly other partners, kept the place running, handled rent-assisted units, and ran activity and wellness programs with game rooms, music, movies, therapy spaces, and outdoor green areas where you'd see folks visiting or just sitting in the sun. Tenants paid for their own electricity, used Energy Star appliances, and had things like energy-saving windows, decorative blinds, and spacious closets.

While Station House Apartments in Antigo doesn't serve anyone now because it's closed, it once gave people a real sense of place, where they could age in their own way, with support available for many different needs, surrounded by comfortable features, daily services, and chances for social time in a peaceful and convenient downtown spot.
