    Bright modern memory-care, attentive staff

I placed my loved one here and have been very pleased - the facility is bright, modern and clean with spacious rooms, pleasant common areas and on-site services. Staff and management are warm, attentive and communicative; the memory-care program is thoughtful and worth the cost. Meals, activities and the overall level of care give me real peace of mind, and I'd recommend touring to see it for yourself.

    Summary of reviews

Frontida Assisted Living of Elkhorn is described by many reviewers as a modern, well-maintained assisted living community with particular strengths in memory-care programming. The physical plant is frequently characterized as bright, open, and home-like, with accessible layouts, indoor and outdoor walking paths, a courtyard and social spaces. Reviewers highlight on-site conveniences such as a salon, physical-therapy office, and an in-house pharmacy. Private rooms and bathrooms are generally described as spacious and clean.

Care quality and staffing receive mixed but largely positive commentary. Numerous families describe compassionate, attentive caregivers and a knowledgeable clinical team; several accounts praise an activities director and structured programming that includes exercises, holiday events and social gatherings. Memory-care support and small-community attention are cited as strengths that provide families with peace of mind. At the same time, a pattern of inconsistent staffing levels is evident: reviewers note occasions of long response times to call buzzers and periods when staff availability is limited. Related operational concerns include reported delays in medication ordering or administration and instances where staff conduct or communication raised questions for families.

Dining and activities are commonly viewed as positive elements of life at the facility, with a varied menu and frequent events. However, there is variability in meal satisfaction and occasional reports of unsatisfactory meals or different expectations about what is included versus extra a la carte charges. Activity programming is described as engaging and well-staffed at times, but other families observed lapses in scheduled activities or lower participation on particular shifts.

Management and administration are described in both positive and critical terms. Several reviewers praise a responsive administrator and owner follow-up that addressed concerns, and some attribute improvements to active leadership. Conversely, periods of leadership turnover are associated with diminished operational consistency for some families; reviewers also raised issues around billing transparency and delays in refunds or communication. Cleanliness is frequently commended, though a number of reviewers cited odor concerns in some common areas that suggest opportunities to strengthen sanitation or incontinence-care protocols.

Overall, Frontida appears to offer a high-quality, well-appointed environment with noteworthy memory-care capabilities and a compassionate staff when operations are functioning as intended. Prospective residents and family members would benefit from an in-person tour that includes questions about staffing ratios, medication-management workflows, billing policies (including a la carte charges), and how leadership handles transitions and follow-up on concerns. Observing mealtime, an activity period, and staff shift changes during a visit can help assess consistency and fit for individual needs.

About Frontida Assisted Living of Elkhorn

Frontida Assisted Living of Elkhorn sits on the edge of town across from Evergreen Golf Club, and you'll find it at 1550 North Country Club Parkway in Elkhorn, WI, which makes it easy to find and pretty quiet most days since it's close to the countryside and not deep in a busy city. The place has been around since 2009 and is run by Frontida Senior Living communities, which are known for memory care and have leadership folks like Crystal J. Miller, Keun Lee, and Jamie Mahoney who seem to keep things grounded with a sense of trust and care. The building is secure and especially built for people who need memory care, with locked and delayed egress doors, so people with dementia can be safe but still walk around and enjoy some freedom in cozy suites and common spaces that feel more homey than clinical, and every room comes furnished but you can bring your own things to help make it feel familiar. The community offers both assisted living and memory care, even a unit called Tender Reflections, and they help seniors aged 55 and up, including those with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or who are just a bit more frail and want to be somewhere safe.

There's help with daily needs like showering, getting dressed, taking medicine, and moving from place to place, so people who need support don't feel alone, and there's full supervision day and night if emergencies come up, with staff who know what they're doing and a 24-hour call and emergency alert system built in. For folks in wheelchairs, the building is accessible, and there's plenty of wide hallways and doors. Cleaning, laundry, and moving in are all mostly handled by the facility, so things stay tidy. The place is well-equipped with things like all day restaurant-style dining in a comfy dining room, with homemade meals and options for people who have allergies or special diets like diabetes, plus a garden and walking paths for those who like to be outdoors and breathe fresh air, along with an arts room for creative moments, a house salon and barber if hair gets too long, Wi-Fi and high-speed internet for those keeping in touch, and even movie nights to keep everyone social and entertained.

The environment tries to be warm and caring, with close pets around sometimes, plenty of laughter, and days filled with both community-sponsored and resident-run activities, so people can choose to join in or just have simpler days if they want. The memory care is serious business here, with specialized training for staff, secure surroundings for people who might wander, and careful design details that help residents feel calm and comfortable, even adjusting the temperature and lighting to suit people living with memory loss. The community believes in showing patience and respect every day, focusing on supporting independence but being ready with help, so families can have some peace of mind and residents feel they belong, are supported, and their stories matter. People here seem genuinely committed to looking out for each other, whether that's through medication management, support with behavior changes, or just making sure every resident has support, comfort, and some joy every day.
