    Compassionate staff and excellent care

My mom moved in recently and I'm very satisfied. The staff are amazing-friendly, attentive and compassionate-and the care (including temporary rehab) is high quality. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and homey in a nicely remodeled building with a lovely gazebo and attached clinic for easy appointments. Meals are good and varied, and there are lots of activities on the activity board.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment: The provided reviews for Heritage of Elmwood are uniformly positive. Reviewers consistently emphasize strong satisfaction with care and staff, repeated praise for cleanliness and room quality, and favorable comments about amenities such as the building, gazebo, and on-site/attached clinic. Multiple summaries highlight both short-term rehabilitation services and ongoing high-quality care, and there are repeated family-member endorsements (for example, "mom loves it here"), indicating trust and satisfaction from relatives as well as from residents.

Care and staff: The dominant theme across reviews is the quality and demeanor of the staff. Words and phrases that recur are friendly, attentive, compassionate, amazing, and not rushed. Reviewers note that staff provide competent answers and deliver high-quality, outstanding care. These comments suggest consistent, person-centered caregiving and good interpersonal interactions between staff and residents or families. The frequency and uniformity of these statements point to a strong staffing culture; reviewers repeatedly describe staff as both compassionate and technically competent.

Facilities and cleanliness: Reviewers consistently describe the physical environment as attractive and well-maintained. Specific positives include a beautiful building, a gazebo, and remodeled, homey rooms. Cleanliness is repeatedly called out โ€” rooms and bathrooms are described as clean โ€” which reinforces the impression of good housekeeping and facility maintenance. The attached clinic and the ability to walk to appointments are noted as convenient features that add clinical convenience and accessibility for residents.

Services and programs: Beyond long-term care, reviewers mention temporary rehabilitation services, indicating the facility supports short-term rehab stays in addition to ongoing residential care. Activity offerings are presented positively; reviewers highlight lots of activities and an activity board, implying an engaged social and programming environment. Dining is also praised: reviewers report good food and a varied menu, suggesting attention to resident nutrition and mealtime satisfaction.

Management and patterns: Although reviewers do not explicitly evaluate administrative leadership, the combination of attentive, unhurried staff, clean and remodeled living spaces, consistent positive family endorsements, and convenient clinical access together imply effective operations and oversight. Repeated descriptors such as "outstanding care" and "strong satisfaction" indicate that positive experiences are not isolated but are a pattern across multiple reviews.

Notable gaps and cautions: The supplied summaries contain no explicit negative comments or specific concerns; the "cons" list is therefore empty based on the provided material. That said, the absence of negative feedback in these summaries should not be taken as proof that no concerns exist. The excerpts do not include details about staffing levels, response times for urgent needs, pricing, contract terms, clinical outcomes, or variability over time and between units. Those subjects are important for a comprehensive assessment but are not covered in the provided reviews.

Conclusion: Based on these summaries, Heritage of Elmwood presents as a well-maintained, resident-focused community with strong, compassionate staff, clean and comfortable rooms, convenient clinical access, a variety of activities, and satisfying dining. The reviews reflect high family and resident satisfaction and highlight both short-term rehabilitation options and high-quality long-term care. For a more complete evaluation, prospective residents or families should request more detailed information on clinical staffing ratios, care protocols, costs, and any resident outcome metrics or resident/family surveys that validate the uniformly positive impressions found here.

    About Heritage of Elmwood

Heritage of Elmwood is a non-profit, municipally-owned skilled nursing home at 232 Springer Ave, Elmwood, WI 54740, that's been in operation since October 1973, and it's licensed to care for up to 50 residents. The place runs with a Board of Directors picked by the Village of Elmwood Board of Trustees and has about 50 to 99 employees. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services gives it a 4-star rating, and folks give it a community rating of 8.7 out of 10, making it the highest-rate in town. It's a big brick building over 28,000 square feet, with 33 units and 37 bathrooms, set up like a former nursing home and clinic, with private rooms, a front vestibule, common living room, and five wings. There's also an attached clinic with a waiting area, five exam rooms, a procedure room, lab, X-ray room, and several offices. There's plenty of paved parking for about 37 cars and a newer furnace system went in lately.

Heritage of Elmwood offers several care options, like assisted living, memory care (with a secured Alzheimer's unit), independent living, regular nursing home care, skilled nursing, and home care. The facility is certified for both Medicare and Medicaid, and provides nursing care and intermediate care for folks who are very frail or depend on nursing. There's an active restorative nursing program, with short-term and long-term rehabilitation services, and a bunch of therapy services-physical, occupational, and speech therapy-right inside the building, along with a full-time therapy staff, so people can recover after a hospital stay or for longer periods. People can get outpatient rehab, too, and there's a registered dietician to handle special meals for residents, along with a physician on duty to help avoid hospital trips. Nurses are on staff to provide IV and oxygen therapy, and they've got equipment for safety, like a wander security system. The place focuses on giving high-quality care without worrying too much about having fancy decorations or perfect landscaping.

The building has features to help everyone feel comfortable, like a large outdoor gazebo, Wi-Fi access throughout, and a commercial kitchen area that used to serve larger groups. Room choices include private options in different studio layouts. Heritage of Elmwood runs a 10-passenger bus with an electric lift for outside trips, and wheelchairs can get on easily. Inside, residents can use the on-site barbershop and beauty salon, and enjoy common areas for socializing. Recreational activities include religious services, fitness classes, bingo games, and trivia events, to help folks stay active and connected. The community encourages volunteering, and staff keep things running with an eye toward keeping odors down using good care and modern air handling systems. Residents can stay in touch with family over email and the Internet, and special meal options are available if a doctor recommends them.

Heritage of Elmwood has an older but sturdy design, a reputation for solid care, and works hard to keep costs as low as possible while focusing on what helps residents most, with amenities and staff set up for a wide range of senior care needs.
