    Warm, caring memory-care home recommended

I placed my mom in this bright, clean, cozy memory-care home and I'm very pleased. The staff - especially Alisha and Melina - are warm, compassionate, and treat residents like family; communication and leadership are responsive. There are engaging daily activities, sunny common areas and outdoor time, home-style meals, and residents genuinely seem happy and social. I highly recommend this caring, well-kept community.

    Summary of reviews

Overview The reviews for this memory-care neighborhood describe a facility with a warm, home-like environment and a staff culture many families find compassionate and personable. Commonly cited strengths include friendly caregivers who know residents by name, a small and intimate setting that supports individualized attention, bright remodeled spaces, private bathrooms, and accessible outdoor areas such as a garden and patio. Reviewers frequently praise the social programing—music, art, games, group gatherings and occasional field trips—and note that meals are homestyle and accommodating to dietary needs. Families also highlight responsive communication from management and examples of supportive transition and end-of-life care.

Care quality and staff Care provision is characterized in many comments as respectful and attentive, with staff who engage residents and foster socialization. Multiple accounts describe staff going beyond expectations, establishing rapport with families, and maintaining a family-like atmosphere. At the same time, a recurring operational concern is staffing instability: high turnover, occasional no-shows, and changing personnel can create discontinuity of care. This instability underlies several other concerns (responsiveness, supervision, and program continuity) noted below.

Dining, activities and daily life Dining is generally described positively—home-style meals and accommodating dietary adjustments are commonly reported. The activity program earns strong praise for offering a variety of on-site options (music, piano gatherings, crafts, games) and for creating an engaging social environment. However, reviewers also mention intermittent reductions or discontinuations of offsite outings and some dementia-focused programming; coupled with limited or no facility-provided transportation, this has reduced access to planned excursions for some residents.

Facilities and environment The physical environment is a clear asset: bright, recently remodeled interiors, a sunny common area, private bathrooms, and pleasant outdoor spaces contribute to a comfortable, residential feel. That said, there are operational facility issues called out, including inconsistent housekeeping and linen-change practices and inadequate in-room lighting in certain units. These are practical matters that affect daily comfort and should be considered during a tour.

Management, communication and notable patterns Many families commend the management team for accessibility and clear communication; staff names are repeatedly singled out for praise. Conversely, there are also reports indicating variability in administrative responsiveness and a small number of serious concerns, including billing disputes and an allegation of theft and financial misconduct. These latter items are serious and represent individual-level claims that prospective families should clarify directly with management and through background checks, contracts, and local oversight resources.

Decision considerations Overall, the facility presents as a warm, activity-rich memory-care home with strong interpersonal caregiving strengths and a family-oriented culture. Prospective residents and families should weigh those positives against operational patterns flagged in reviews: staffing instability, intermittent program or transportation discontinuities, housekeeping inconsistencies, and isolated but serious financial/billing concerns. Recommended due diligence includes an on-site tour to observe staffing ratios and supervision, review of housekeeping and maintenance schedules, written clarification of transportation and activity commitments, and careful review of billing practices and contract terms.

About Our House Senior Living - Menomonie Memory Care

Our House Senior Living - Menomonie Memory Care sits at 820 17th Ave. E and has 31 residences in a dedicated memory care unit, making it a small community for adults 55 and older who deal with memory loss, Alzheimer's, or other kinds of dementia, and the staff puts a real focus on giving care that matches each person's unique situation, working to help folks stay as independent as possible while still needing some help with daily things like bathing, getting dressed, and taking medicine, and the building itself is built for safety, with secure entries, exits, and plenty of hand railings, so people who wander or get lost easily are kept safe, and there are both single rooms and companion suites, all with their own bathrooms that are fully handicap accessible, so wheelchairs get around easy and showers are fitted with extra support rails, and every part of the place, from the hallways to the fireside living room, is made to feel homey, with things like a front porch with sitting areas, a TV lounge, indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, and a big dining room that offers three meals a day plus snacks, family-style kitchen access, and the staff manages all the meals and snacks for everyone.

The memory care program makes sure everyone's got a plan that fits their needs, and staff receive training on helping people with memory problems, offering therapies and activities made to keep minds busy and support the early and ongoing needs of dementia, and there's a mix of social, physical, and mental activities each day so folks get a chance to stay active and build relationships, and for those who need it, the community offers short-term (respite) stays when space is open. Pets like cats and dogs are welcome, so longtime companions can stay with their owners, and amenities cover things like resident parking, transportation services for a fee, an onsite beauty and barber shop, and a fenced patio with raised garden beds beside a landscaped yard.

The building makes sure everything's easy to move through and comfortable, with large windows, wide hallways, handrails, and private entryways off well-lit halls, and each room comes with a call system for help, private or shared bathrooms, and enough closet space. Staff watch over residents day and night, handling medicines, incontinence, diabetic care, and help for those who aren't able to move around on their own, and the focus is always on treating everyone with dignity, respecting choices, and helping each person keep control over as much of their own life as they can. Communal spaces allow time to gather, relax, and eat with others, which helps with building a sense of belonging, and the grounds and building are kept secure to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Menomonie Memory Care is part of the broader Our House Senior Living group, known for supporting seniors in assisted living and memory care settings, and the staff's well-trained for the needs that come with aging, memory problems, and changes in health, so people get the right kind of supervision, support, and help staying connected with others while keeping their dignity and independence as long as their condition allows.
