    Independent resident praises caring staff

I live in an independent duplex with a lovely front porch and deck overlooking flowers. The meals are wonderful-delicious noon meals delivered to my apartment and a warm Wednesday supper-real home cooking. Staff are polite, go out of their way, and keep us informed; the place is clean and feels like family. I'm very happy with the care, enjoy the activities, and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is predominantly positive, with recurring praise for staff, meals, resident engagement, and the independent duplex/apartment model. Multiple reviewers emphasize that staff are outstanding, attentive, and make an effort to ensure residents are comfortable and happy. The family-like atmosphere and personalized attention are strong themes: residents are described as happy, participating in activities, and families report being kept informed. Several reviewers explicitly recommend the facility and note good value and quality of care.

Care quality and staff interaction are consistently highlighted as major strengths. Phrases such as "staff go out of their way," "outstanding staff," and "informed updates" appear across reviews, reflecting strong interpersonal care and good communication with families. Reviewers describe staff as kind and helpful; even those who mentioned other negatives still called the staff "nice" and confirmed the facility was clean. This suggests that staff behavior and resident support are reliable selling points for the facility.

Dining is another frequently mentioned positive. Reviewers describe "great home cooking," "delicious noon meal delivered to apartment," and a recurring "Wednesday supper gathering," indicating both quality meals and opportunities for social dining. The combination of meals delivered to apartments and community meals provides flexibility for more independent residents while still offering communal options. Multiple comments about "great meals" reinforce that food service is a clear strength.

Activities and resident engagement come through as beneficial to residents' quality of life. Several reviews note that residents participate in and are engaged by activities, which contributes to a sense of community and ongoing involvement. However, there is a notable communication gap reported by some reviewers: one or more reviews mention a lack of information about activities and menus. While staff are described as nice and communicative in general, explicit posted or formal information about programming and menus appears inconsistent or absent for some families.

Facilities and living arrangements receive mixed feedback. Positive comments include independent duplex living and specific apartment features such as front porches and decks, along with a pleasant, flowered setting. These elements support an attractive, home-like environment for those who obtain an apartment. On the other hand, several reviews expressed concerns about the interior atmosphere, describing it as "dark" or "not very nice inside." Additionally, there is a concrete availability concern: reviewers note a limited number of independent apartments are offered, which may constrain options for prospective residents seeking that style of living.

Management and logistics also show a mixed picture. While families appreciate being kept informed and praise the staff, at least one review mentioned the facility was "not prepared for arrangements" during transition or move-in, indicating occasional lapses in administrative readiness. This contrasts with other comments about good care and value, suggesting that operational inconsistencies may be intermittent rather than systemic.

In summary, the dominant strengths of Kelly House are its compassionate and communicative staff, high-quality home-cooked meals (with both delivered and communal dining options), an engaging activities program, and appealing independent apartment options when available. The main areas for improvement are interior appearance/atmosphere, clearer and more consistent information about activities and menus, better preparedness for move-ins or other arrangements, and expansion or better management of limited independent apartment availability. Addressing these concerns while maintaining the strong staff culture and dining/activities offerings would likely improve overall satisfaction further.

    About Kelly House

Kelly House is a licensed Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF) with room for up to eight residents, so things feel a bit quieter and more like home, and folks can expect help when they need it since there are staff trained to support residents 24 hours a day, especially for those living with dementia, Alzheimer's, or physical challenges. The community has assisted living rooms, one-bedroom apartments, and retirement duplexes that fit seniors aged 55 and older, and there are both efficiency units and spacious barrier-free apartments with two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, laundry, and an attached one-car garage, so each person can find a space that matches how much privacy and independence they want, while still having personal care like bathing, dressing, and medication help available whenever needed. The environment's set up to make moving around simple, with wheelchair accessible showers and help with getting in and out of the shower or transferring if mobility is tough, and there's parking for residents, along with transportation services for appointments and outings. People living here get fresh, chef-prepared meals daily, with menu options for allergies, diabetes, and other health needs, plus snacks and all-day dining in a shared dining room if they like to eat on their own time, and laundry, housekeeping, and dry cleaning are all handled for them to keep things tidy and easy. The place is smoke-free indoors, has both indoor and outdoor relax spaces, gardens, walking paths, and a reading room, and residents can bring their pets along if they'd like the company. There's a nurse on staff and on-call, and care teams coordinate with doctors to manage everything from incontinence to diabetic needs, and therapists for speech, physical, and occupational support, along with a podiatrist for foot care. Seniors with memory concerns benefit from memory care services in a secure, alert-based area so staff knows if someone who's confused wanders outside, and there's staff led activities both onsite like games, music, devotional gatherings, social events, art, and movie nights, as well as group trips offsite for those feeling adventurous or needing a change of scenery. Kelly House provides respite and hospice care, meaning short stays are possible and end-of-life needs are met, and seniors can also age in place there, so they don't have to move when needs change. Residents get help with medication management, transfers, daily tasks, and even have special beauty and barber services, with social nights and fitness programs to keep minds and bodies as active as possible, and there's support with dementia care, supervision, and engagement throughout the day so people feel safe and valued, living in a place meant to feel like family, whether they want a lot of company or prefer quiet time.
