    Compassionate, professional dementia care community

I moved my mom here after a helpful tour and have been very pleased with the compassionate, professional staff - they genuinely go above and beyond and the administrator, Carrie Ann, is responsive. The building is clean, beautiful and home-like with spacious private rooms, large windows, a sunny patio, robust activities (music, dancing, crafts) and solid in-house therapy. Care feels attentive and safety-focused, residents seem happy, and I would recommend this community to families needing kind, knowledgeable dementia care.

    Summary of reviews

Frontida Assisted Living of Manitowoc presents a generally positive physical environment and many elements families commonly seek in assisted living. The building is described as bright, welcoming and well maintained, with spacious private rooms and private bathrooms, large windows and an outdoor patio that support a home-like atmosphere. Dining and common areas are typically clean and presentable, and recent leadership changes have produced visible program updates such as a new dining program and a refreshed life-enrichment schedule.

Care quality is commonly framed as compassionate and comfort-focused. Reviewers highlight attentive caregivers, strong in-house therapy services and particularly competent physical therapy (PTA). Staff frequently receive praise for kindness, patience, and support with transfers and end-of-life comfort. At the same time, there are operational weaknesses to consider: reviewers indicate gaps in medication-management processes, delays in care responses at times, and incomplete or delayed care-plan documentation. These issues suggest uneven clinical controls and documentation practices that families should review during tours.

Staffing and management present a mixed picture. Many comments emphasize a dedicated, team-oriented culture and an engaged executive director who has implemented improvements. Conversely, staff instability and administrative turnover have produced variability in day-to-day experience: some families describe high-quality, respectful interactions, while others report instances of unprofessional conduct and uneven dementia-care expertise. The facility does offer a memory-care option, but prospective residents with cognitive impairment should confirm current staff training and dementia-specific protocols.

Activities and social programming are strengths for many residents. There is a consistent schedule of daily activities with a strong emphasis on music, singing, dancing, crafting and simple exercise; these events are credited with creating visible enjoyment among residents. However, activity frequency, variety and logistics can be inconsistent — some families find programming limited or insufficiently individualized, and noise control during group events has been called out as disruptive in a few cases.

Finally, ancillary services and administrative processes show room for clarification. Families value the facility’s curb appeal and clean spaces but have raised concerns about laundry capacity and unclear extra charges for services such as respite stays. Paperwork delays and uneven communication with families are also recurring operational themes. Prospective residents and their families would benefit from asking targeted questions during a tour: current staffing stability, medication-administration procedures, care-plan availability, dementia-care training, activity schedules and specific ancillary service fees. Overall, Frontida appears well suited to people seeking a welcoming, music-oriented assisted-living setting, provided due diligence is done around the operational and clinical-consistency issues noted above.
