    Immaculate, homey facility; attentive staff

I placed my mom here and I'm very satisfied. The facility is beautiful, homey and immaculate, and the nurses, CNAs, food service and leadership are attentive and made her feel like family. Good food, lots of activities (chapel, live entertainment, movies, outings), plus medical/pharmacy coordination, transportation and personal services (hair, podiatry) made life easy in a safe, well-maintained community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on compassionate, attentive staff and a clean, well‑kept environment. Many reviewers note that residents — in particular their mothers — became happier and more engaged after moving in, with some saying their loved ones “blossomed” under the facility’s care. Staff at multiple levels (nurses, CNAs, food service, activity staff and the director) are described as going above and beyond, creating a family‑like atmosphere that contributes significantly to resident wellbeing.

Care quality and staffing is one of the clearest strengths. Reviewers specifically call out the nursing and caregiving teams as wonderful and caring, and cite reliable personal care (for example, scheduled baths twice weekly). Families report good communication between the facility, attending doctors and the pharmacy, and they appreciate the coordination and transportation provided for medical appointments. The combination of clinical attention and a personable approach is a recurring theme and appears to be a major factor in resident satisfaction.

Facility and cleanliness receive consistent praise. The building, rooms and common areas are repeatedly described as immaculate, comfortable and well maintained, with sunny sitting areas and an overall homelike, attractive look. While one comment notes the center is “old,” that observation is outweighed by statements about cleanliness and upkeep; in other words, reviews portray an older building that is nevertheless cared for and made comfortable for residents.

Dining and services are generally viewed positively. Meals are served in a dining room, with the option for breakfast to be delivered to rooms, and reviewers say the food is good. Several specific service offerings are highlighted: adult daycare, grocery cart runs, shopping trips, bus outings, hair stylists, a podiatrist, cable/internet/phone access and personalized services. These practical amenities, along with transportation to appointments, contribute to a sense that residents’ daily needs and quality of life are being actively managed.

Activities and community life appear robust. The facility offers daily activities, live entertainment, movies, an aviary and a chapel/worship area that is church‑owned and open to the public. Reviewers emphasize the active calendar and opportunities for socialization and spiritual life, which supports the reports of residents feeling happy and engaged.

Notable patterns and minor concerns: the most frequently cited drawback is menu variety — several reviewers mention that meals include “too much chicken,” suggesting residents or families would appreciate more diversity in menu options. Another point mentioned is that in‑room cooking is allowed; some reviewers list this as a complaint or concern, which could reflect worries about safety, odors, or pest control. Finally, a few descriptors call the center “old,” which may matter to prospective families who favor newer facilities; however, the age does not appear to correlate with poor upkeep given the repeated comments about cleanliness and maintenance.

In summary, the reviews paint St. Clare Friedensheim Assisted Living as a caring, well‑run, community‑oriented facility where residents receive attentive personal and medical coordination, enjoy a wide range of activities and services, and live in clean, comfortable surroundings. The strongest positives are the staff’s compassionate approach and the active, faith‑based community life. Prospective residents and families should be encouraged by the consistent reports of high‑quality, personalized care, while also asking specific questions about menu variety and the facility’s policies on in‑room cooking and any renovations or updates if building age is a concern.

About St Clare Friedensheim Assisted Living

St Clare Friedensheim Assisted Living sits at 2003 4th Street in Monroe, Wisconsin, and offers assisted living care for older adults who need help with daily activities but still want to stay as independent as possible, and it's close to shops, churches, Monroe Clinic, and more, so residents don't have to go far for anything they might need. The facility has about 50 assisted living units and serves mainly middle-income seniors in the area, which has around 16,000 people in the 53566 zip code, and families here average about $46,954 a year.

Residents can choose from two-bedroom apartments, one-bedroom units, shared living spaces, or studios, most of them coming with kitchenettes, air-conditioning, cable, internet, and even wifi, and for those who need more help, care staff gives personal assistance with bathing, dressing, transfers, medication management, and even manually feeding or incontinence management if that's needed, and seniors with dementia can get basic support-though the community doesn't specifically offer memory care. Accessibility is good, with wide elevators and doors for folks who need wheelchairs or can't get around as well, and safety features like emergency alert systems set up in the rooms help everyone feel more secure.

Housekeeping, linen service, meal preparation, including organic foods, and options for special diets are all part of what the staff does, while a 24-hour call system means help is nearby day and night, and the staff also offers transportation for doctor appointments, shopping, and day trips, which brightens up the routine week a bit. The dining room serves meals all day in a restaurant-style setting, and residents gather for things like movie nights, game groups, arts and crafts, or just walk along the quiet garden paths out front. Amenities like the on-site pharmacy, wellness center, community lounge, library, barber and salon, dog and cat-friendly areas, laundry service, and a nice theater room all help residents feel comfortable. The facility has large screen TVs, in-room telephones, and regular fitness programs, including daily classes.

Planned day trips, community-sponsored events, educational activities, and resident-run groups keep many people engaged and connected to neighbors. Physical therapy is available on-site, and seniors needing some home health support or regular health checks can get those, too. Families find the cost of St Clare Friedensheim Assisted Living to be about $4,297 per month, and the facility holds license number 16166. While the facility doesn't claim any unique awards or specialized memory care, it does help seniors who want a supportive community with enough personal freedom to make their own choices, and its overall rating sits at 4.0 out of 5 from one reviewer.
