    Impressive, clean, friendly senior community

I toured Creek Side Terrace and was very impressed - a newer, clean place with a pleasant, social atmosphere. Staff and management were extremely helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and responsive; caring aides and activities made it a very good fit for my mom. Conveniently located near home and currently no openings, so call for pricing and availability - overall a strong option I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

The available reviews portray a facility with clear strengths in direct resident-facing care alongside persistent operational and management concerns. Families and visitors most consistently describe kind, attentive aides, strong medication leads, and warm staff–resident relationships. Several comments emphasize a small, homelike atmosphere and a newer adjacent building (Creek Side Terrace) that appears clean and welcoming; those spaces are described as convenient for nearby family members and supportive of social interaction and activities.

Care quality is described in mixed terms. Positive elements include attentive hands-on care, good rapport between staff and residents, and capable medication management. However, other notes point to inconsistencies in care delivery: delays in responding to call buttons, uneven execution of care tasks, and gaps in clinical documentation and incident reporting. These operational lapses create uncertainty about continuity and safety of care, particularly during shift changes.

Staff and workplace culture show a split picture. Many reviewers praise friendly, knowledgeable front-line staff and express appreciation for responsive administrative staff and outside contractors. At the same time, there are recurring concerns about staff training, high turnover, and patterns of favoritism and cliquishness that families say affect morale and reliability. Questions about on-call expectations and compensation, and references to HR involvement, indicate personnel-management issues that some families find consequential.

Dining and activities receive mixed feedback. Several people report engaging activities and open social areas that support interaction; others describe inconsistent meal quality and point to kitchen-staff dissatisfaction. Some residents enjoy the food, while others note preparation and consistency issues that suggest kitchen staffing and oversight could be improved.

Facility and campus observations are generally positive regarding cleanliness and a pleasant atmosphere in the newer units, but there are also concerns about grounds maintenance and outdoor smoking/odor that affect perceptions of campus safety and comfort. Prospective families should also ask about call-response times and observe peak staffing periods during a visit.

Management-related themes are perhaps the most polarized: some reviewers describe supportive, responsive management, while others raise concerns about minimal oversight, perceived prioritization of financial goals, and an unsettled leadership culture. Taken together, the pattern suggests that experiences vary depending on unit, shift, and recent staffing/leadership changes. Prospective residents and families would benefit from in-person visits at different times of day, direct questions about incident reporting and staffing continuity, clarifying on-call policies and kitchen staffing, and talking with the current medication lead and unit staff to assess fit and operational reliability.

About Caring Alternatives Creek Side Manor

Caring Alternatives Creek Side Manor is a senior living community in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, that offers assisted living and memory care services in a home-like setting where residents can feel safe and comfortable. The place has 20 assisted living units and five suites for couples or those who want more space, with private rooms that have full baths, refrigerators, cable TV, phone jacks, and climate controls. The community provides 24/7 care with licensed nurses and trained staff who offer help with daily living tasks like bathing, dressing, and medication reminders. There's on-site support from nurses, a podiatrist, a doctor on call, and therapies like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, all available in a therapy room right at the facility. Residents with memory care needs or dementia live in a separate building called Creek Side Terrace, which has 25 units, secure entrances to prevent wandering, and programs to help them stay engaged and supervised.

Creek Side Manor puts a lot into making everyone feel connected and active, with a full schedule of social, educational, and entertaining activities every day, plus movie nights, resident-led events, and community occasions. Staff are always around to encourage participation, help out when needed, and make sure everyone feels part of the group. The community has large common spaces, including two living rooms with fireplaces and two bright sunrooms, and a lovely outdoor patio where people can gather or just sit and relax. There's a library, walking paths, a garden, an arts room, and even an on-site beauty salon and barbershop, so residents don't have to leave to get their hair done or enjoy a soak in the whirlpool spa. Wheelchair access and non-ambulatory care are part of the design, and there are emergency alert systems in every room for safety and peace of mind.

Meals are prepared on site, and residents can eat any time of day in the elegant main dining room or a private dining room for special occasions. The kitchen team works with special diets as needed, offering nutritious food made with good ingredients. Housekeeping, laundry, and even dry cleaning services are handled for everyone, so daily chores aren't a worry. Residents can bring pets, decorate their rooms, and take part in devotional services offsite if they wish. The facility's move-in support makes the transition easier for new residents.

Caring Alternatives Creek Side Manor has been serving elders since 1996, is independently owned, and participates in Diamond Accreditation and WALA membership, proving a long-standing focus on quality. The staff are described as friendly, helpful, and kind to both residents and visitors, keeping the place clean and well-kept. There's an aging-in-place approach, which means care can adjust over time as residents' needs change, so people don't have to move out if they start to need more help. Creek Side Manor, along with Creek Side Terrace and Caring Alternatives of Muskego, aims to give seniors a sense of comfort, connection, and dignity, with services for those with mobility issues, mild cognitive impairment, or Alzheimer's, always keeping safety and well-being at the center of daily life.
