    Excellent rehab, caring staff, spotless

I was very pleased with my experience - excellent, effective therapy and a caring, family-like staff who really go above and beyond. The facility is spotless and homey, activities are engaging, social work/discharge planning was helpful, and COVID precautions are followed; I'd recommend it for rehab or longer stays.

    Summary of reviews

Edenbrook Platteville presents a mixed but clear profile: it is widely recognized for a strong inpatient rehabilitation program, an experienced therapy staff, and a generally warm, family-like caregiving culture. Multiple accounts praise the clinical capabilities — including IV therapy and bariatric recovery — and attribute many successful short-term discharges to the therapy department. Many families and former residents describe the building as modern, clean, and well maintained, with bright communal areas (sunroom, outdoor grounds) and an active activities program offering outings, music, bingo, and arts-and-crafts.

Care quality shows both notable strengths and operational weaknesses. On the positive side, reviewers repeatedly highlight attentive, compassionate caregivers, effective social-work and discharge planning, and therapists who help residents regain strength. At the same time, there are consistent concerns about responsiveness to basic needs: delays in assistance with toileting and call-light response, uneven monitoring by nursing staff, and several accounts that imply weaknesses in fall-prevention and transfer-assistance practices. These are operational patterns prospective families should evaluate when considering the facility.

Staffing and communication are areas of divergence. Many comments applaud teamwork, a supportive staff culture, and an employer environment that attracts dedicated employees. Conversely, the facility experiences staff turnover and instances of inconsistent staff attentiveness and perceived favoritism. Reviewers also described gaps in interdisciplinary communication — particularly between therapy, nursing, and attending physicians — and occasional lack of clarity in therapy plans and discharge communication.

Dining and resident accommodations show mixed feedback. The building itself is described as modern and clean, but resident rooms are frequently characterized as small and lacking natural light. Opinions on meals vary from praise for good food to descriptions of institutional-style dining; this suggests inconsistent dining quality and presentation. Housekeeping and linen services are noted positively.

Management and regulatory context are important considerations. Reviews reference administrative turnover, with some families noting active, engaged leadership and others describing limited administrator interaction. A state survey with multiple deficiencies was cited in the feedback, which indicates the need to review the facility's current survey report and corrective-action status. Additionally, some reviewers raised concerns about alarm-response reliability and other safety-process gaps.

Overall impression: Edenbrook Platteville is a strong option for people seeking intensive short-term rehabilitation and for those who value an active activities program and a clean, modern environment. The therapy department and many frontline caregivers are frequently highlighted as strengths. Prospective residents and their families should, however, investigate recent survey findings, ask specific questions about staffing levels and call-light response times, review fall-prevention and transfer protocols, and inspect room size and lighting to ensure the facility’s operational practices meet their expectations.

    About Edenbrook Platteville

Edenbrook Platteville is a skilled nursing facility over on North Water Street that's always open, and people know it for a focus on post-acute care and a family-like setting where the staff stays around the clock and helps with long-term and short-term needs, using a team that connects all the care together and gives physical, occupational, speech, and IV therapies right in-house, so whether a person's recovering from a surgery or a stroke or needs help with cardiac, respiratory, or orthopedic rehab, they'll find the right therapies offered daily. The facility does wound care, works with renal health, and has memory care and hospice options as well, and there are respite care services for families who need a short-term solution. Rooms here are private, with cable TV, Wi-Fi, phones, and laundry, and sometimes meals come straight to the room, planned by a registered dietitian, with menus people can change to fit what they like or need, and those wanting a bit of fresh air can relax in outdoor patios while others might like gathering in bright, large living or rehab areas that make it easy to move about, which helps those who find walking a challenge. People needing primary, specialty, medical, dental, or nursing care can get help here, and discharge planning and equipment support come through the social services. Some staff speak other languages along with English, making it easier for more people to get care. The community uses things like complimentary iPads and virtual reality to keep folks connected with family and entertained, and there's a real effort to provide a safe, upbeat, and comfortable place where residents and staff treat each other like family, especially since some people here need help with dementia or Alzheimer's and benefit from a welcoming and understanding environment. Rehabilitation covers both short-term needs and longer stays, and the facility has earned a reputation for good care and resident satisfaction, using a holistic method that tries to see all parts of a person, not just medical needs, and focuses on dignity, recovery, and a sense of home for everyone.
