    Friendly staff, clean home, compassionate

I placed my father here and I'm very pleased-staff are friendly, attentive, and treat him with respect and dignity, often going above and beyond. The home is clean and comfortable, meals are delicious with dietary attention, and daily activities keep residents engaged; Stephanie and the team were compassionate and supportive during hospice. Worth a tour-there's even a Medicaid transition option.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews indicate a mixed but informative picture. Strengths are concentrated in frontline caregiving and programming: many family members and residents describe staff as caring, patient, and attentive, with several accounts of staff going above and beyond. The activities program is frequently praised — an active director and daily programming, including holiday events and musical entertainment, are noted as positive contributors to resident engagement. Meals are generally described as well-balanced and attentive to dietary needs, and the facility offers some practical advantages such as clean, accessible rooms, walk-in showers, a responsive maintenance team, and a Medicaid transition option.

Care quality shows both positive and concerning patterns. On the positive side, reviewers highlight individualized attention, anticipatory care that fits resident schedules, and supportive hospice assistance from specific staff members. Conversely, a recurrent operational theme is understaffing and high turnover. Reviewers describe delays in assistance, inconsistent follow-through on personal-care tasks, and variable sanitation/incontinence-care practices. These staffing pressures are also tied to concerns about staff morale and administrative support for caregivers.

Safety and management are areas with notable variability. Several comments indicate gaps in supervision and safety protocols for residents with cognitive impairment, including instances where residents with dementia were able to leave secure areas; families also described a serious incident involving staff conduct that raised concerns about management response. Communication with families is inconsistent in some cases, including delayed or absent emergency notifications and dissatisfaction with administrative phone responsiveness. New ownership was mentioned as bringing an improved focus on resident welfare and staff quality by some reviewers, suggesting changes may be underway, but management responsiveness remains an area families advised to probe.

Facilities and lifestyle elements are mostly positive but with tradeoffs. The environment is described as comfortable and home-like, with clean rooms and active social programming. Dining is favorably reviewed for quality and dietary attention, though there is limited flexibility in ordering (no à la carte option) and some families questioned value relative to cost. Prospective residents and families should balance the clear strengths in staff-resident interactions, activities, and physical accessibility against systemic issues tied to staffing, supervision of cognitively impaired residents, and administrative communication. Recommended questions at a tour include current staffing ratios and turnover, protocols for supervision and emergency notification, incontinence- and sanitation-care processes, memory-care placement criteria, and detailed explanations of dining and pricing options.

    About Ripon Senior Living

Ripon Senior Living sits at 1450 Pleasant St in Ripon, Wisconsin, offering assisted living, memory care, independent living, and respite care in a Class C Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF) with 40 beds, and you'll find the building's designed for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory adults, including those with memory loss or more complex health needs. You can tell the place is built for safety and comfort, and if someone needs extra care, there's around-the-clock staff support from trained caregivers, supervised by a full-time Executive Director who's a Licensed Practical Nurse, with a registered nurse available by phone day or night, and you get monthly visits from the nurse too, which gives families some peace of mind. When someone needs emergency medical care, there's a separate entrance for the Emergency Room just off Douglas Street, with SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital close by, and you also have specialized clinics like the Agnesian Cancer Center nearby in the community, so medical support's never too far away.

There are private and semi-private rooms, most with private bathrooms and walk-in showers that are wheelchair accessible, and you'll spot cozy lounges with fireplaces and gated outdoor patios with raised garden beds where folks can spend some time outside, and the facility allows pets, so residents can have their dogs or cats with them if they want. For daily life, there are activities on and off site-art classes, music, yoga, gardening, book clubs, educational talks, trips to local places like the Little White Schoolhouse and Ripon College-that are all run by a full-time activity director and those events bring everyone together, while social, educational, and religious programs let people stay active and connected. Sometimes the kitchen serves meals restaurant-style, and they're happy to cater to different diets like diabetic, vegetarian, or low-sodium, and residents can eat any time with guest and private dining options available too.

The memory care programs have special features like secured wings, wander alerts, and technology that keeps residents from getting lost, plus activities that help keep minds active. Staff handle incontinence care, help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, or taking medication, and there's physical, speech, and occupational therapy support for those who need it, along with behavioral management for folks living with dementia or who are prone to wandering or acting out. Parking's onsite, transportation's available-some included and some for an extra cost-and complimentary transportation is part of the package for certain outings or appointments. The place is smoke-free indoors, both private and public, and offers devotional services on site or off, reflecting the strong sense of community you find there.

Many residents live here long-term, but there's short-term respite care for those who need it, plus hospice care if a resident's needs change. People can age in place, so they don't have to move if they need more help later. There's Wi-Fi, a beauty and barber shop, and the staff can help with most types of care, from light supervision to heavier needs, including transfers with lifts and monitoring blood sugars for diabetes management. Ripon Senior Living has a local, home-like feel, and while it's not fancy, it's well-known in town for its caring team, simple comforts, and attention to the people who live there, making it a steady choice for families who want clear care options and a safe, supportive environment. Studio rooms are around $4,800 and one-bedroom units cost about $6,300 monthly, and options may vary by residence type in the community.
