    Caring staff, clean, watch charges

I placed my mom here and I can't say enough about the staff - amazingly caring, responsive and expert; they made a hard time much easier and my mom felt safe and well cared for. The community is clean, peaceful and well-run (lovely patio and pool), though meals and activities were uneven - some homemade meals were delicious but other times food was mediocre and programming felt TV-focused. My only big caution: extra "care" charges were sometimes added retroactively and not itemized, which felt unethical.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive about the human side of care at Serenity Manor. Multiple reviewers use words like exceptional, attentive, expert, friendly, helpful, very caring, and extremely responsive to describe the staff and caregivers. Several comments emphasize that staff made a difficult time easier for the resident and their family and that residents felt safe and well cared for. Cleanliness is a recurring positive: reviewers describe the environment and community as clean and well-maintained. Owners are also praised as proactive and the home described as well-run, which reinforces the impression of solid day-to-day operations and management in many reviewers' experiences.

The facility and atmosphere are highlighted as pleasant and peaceful. Specific amenities mentioned include a patio with roses and a pool, and reviewers describe a loving, peaceful atmosphere that contributed to residents feeling comfortable and content. These descriptions, together with comments that residents enjoy what they eat, indicate Serenity Manor succeeds at creating a homelike environment for many families.

Dining feedback is mixed. Several reviewers praise delicious, homemade meals and say their family member likes what they eat, which suggests good dining experiences for many residents. However, at least one reviewer described the food as mediocre, indicating variability in meal quality or differing expectations among families. This inconsistency is a notable theme and potential area for follow-up by prospective families (for example, sample a meal or review current menus before committing).

Activities receive some criticism: one reviewer characterizes programming as overly TV-focused. While this is only mentioned explicitly in that summary, it points to a possible imbalance in recreational offerings — strong personal care and environment do not necessarily guarantee robust, varied engagement programming for all residents.

The most significant and specific negative pattern concerns billing practices. One reviewer reports extra 'care' charges that were not itemized, a retroactive charge policy, and describes the billing as unethical, concluding with a recommendation against the facility. This contrasts with other praise for proactive owners and a well-run home, making it a salient outlier but a serious red flag. Even if only one review raises billing issues, the specificity of claims about non-itemized charges and retroactive fees is important for prospective residents and families to investigate directly.

In sum, Serenity Manor appears to deliver high-quality, compassionate hands-on care, a clean and peaceful environment, and a homelike atmosphere with appealing outdoor spaces. Key strengths are the staff's responsiveness and the sense of safety and support they provide. The main areas to verify in person are consistency of dining quality, the variety of activities beyond television, and, importantly, clarity and transparency of billing. Prospective families should consider asking for a written fee schedule, examples of itemized billing, the facility's policy on retroactive charges, current activity schedules, and to sample meals or review menus to confirm that the experience aligns with the positive reports from most reviewers and to address the serious billing concern raised by at least one reviewer.

The staff gives 24-hour care and supervision, and the support covers everything from help with bathing, dressing, eating, and medication management to non-ambulatory care, memory care for Alzheimer's, and hospice and respite stays, and the care feels personal because of the small size, so people often mention that they notice how staff offer daily reminders and assist with transfers and activities of daily living, so residents don't need to do too much alone.

Meals come prepared by a chef with organic ingredients, snacks are on hand, and vegetarian meals are always an option, and if someone comes for a short-term stay or respite, move-in help and coordination with other healthcare providers is provided, so things go smoothly.

The community does daily devotionals or spiritual services when folks want, barbershop and salon services keep everyone tidy, and people can expect a safe, smoke-free setting indoors and in public areas, and with only six residents at a time, staff can pay attention to each person's needs, so living at Serenity Manor means having help nearby at all hours, a real home feel, and freedom from household chores.
