Olive Glen Main House is a non-profit Christian Science nursing facility that's been serving residents since 1987, when North Valley Foundation and Olive Glen merged. The Main House sits on two acres of landscaped grounds with walkways, patios, rose gardens, fountains, citrus trees, and flowerbeds, all within a fenced property for safety and peace. The residence offers independent living, assisted living, and skilled Christian Science nursing care, with private rooms and several floor plan choices. Six private apartments are available for independent living, twelve private rooms for nursing care, and staff help residents choose the right level of support.
The environment feels warm and welcoming and the staff treat people with dignity, respect, and a focus on independence. Christian Science nurses are on hand 24 hours a day to support needs and maintain a family-like atmosphere. Meals are all home-cooked and served three times daily in inviting dining rooms, but meals can be brought to rooms when someone isn't feeling up to joining others. The menus meet dietary needs and preferences. Housekeeping and laundry are taken care of daily. Residents can join a variety of social activities, outings, and scheduled programs both on and off the grounds. There's transportation to Sunday and Wednesday church services plus rides for shopping or other social trips in the Olive Glen bus. The grounds have spaces to sit outside, walk, and enjoy nature throughout the year.
The facility is newly remodeled and refurnished, so it's comfortable and feels home-like, with emergency pull-chords in all rooms for safety. In-room audio provides access to Bible Lessons, hymns, and periodical articles. Staff read a daily Bible Lesson to residents in person, or offer cassette and video formats. The facility is gated and offers 24-hour visiting hours. The Great Room has a fireplace, TV, computer center, and a full kitchen, so people can gather together or spend time alone as they choose. There's a beauty shop on-site. Care provided is licensed and meets standards for safety and appropriate caregiver-to-resident ratios.
Christian Science principles guide care and healing, and the atmosphere encourages spiritual growth and rest. Education programs for Christian Science nurses, including the Le Verger program with four levels of training, are offered. Olive Glen Main House is accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Christian Science Nursing Organizations/Facilities and is a member of AOCSN. Outpatient services, rest and study stays, and daytime care are available along with residential living. The staff and residents practice Christian Science together and support one another in a peaceful, loving way.
