      Caring family home, attentive staff

I placed my loved one in this family-owned home and have been very pleased: the staff are caring, professional, and responsive, and the owners are hands-on-helping with LTC approval and coordinating in-home medical and hospice visits. The house is clean, warm and safe, meals are homemade, and transitions were smooth with prompt, thorough communication. I recommend this small, family-style setting for compassionate, attentive 24-hour care.

      About Family First

Family First in Gig Harbor, WA, sits in a peaceful spot near Pt Fosdick Drive, close to parks, cafes, restaurants, and several pharmacies, and you'll find doctors and hospitals within reach, which makes errands and emergencies less stressful for everyone. The staff focus on a family-first approach, working to keep the place calm and caring, and they follow this Family First philosophy in how they offer care. They have different types of help like assisted living, memory care, independent living, respite care, and board and care homes, so people who need help with bathing or dressing, memory support for Alzheimer's or dementia, or simply a neighborly house with fewer residents, all have options. Some of these care homes are called Adult Family Homes, and they're set up to make things feel close-knit, with caregivers who know everyone by name and keep daily life more personal. You'll see amenities like private rooms, easy handicap access, internet, help with transportation, and counseling if needed. Along with that, Family First supports spiritual needs, since there are places of worship nearby, and offers non-medical support like simple companionship for those who need it. Specialized care includes services under names like "Health Care," "Memory Care," "In Home Care," "Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation," and "Adult Family Homes," covering a range from basic help up to medical support and therapies for seniors dealing with memory or mental health needs. The neighborhood itself keeps things lively yet quiet, so residents can enjoy parks, have visitors drop by, or just relax somewhere that feels safe and familiar, all while getting the assistance and connections that usually come from a smaller, family-oriented place.

No, Family First does not offer respite care. Respite care in assisted living communities provides temporary, short-term relief for primary caregivers by offering professional care for their loved ones. It allows individuals to stay in an assisted living community for a limited time, giving caregivers a break while ensuring residents receive necessary support and assistance with daily activities.
