    Compassionate clean family Alzheimer care

I found the best care imaginable-compassionate, helpful staff in a welcoming, impeccably clean, quiet 3-resident family home. Meals were delicious and healthy, they even offer nail services, and their Alzheimer's/dementia care is excellent with strong family support and caregiver stability (our main caregiver has been there 3 years). I highly recommend this home for my father for its value and home-like environment - currently no memory care beds/limited vacancy, so check availability.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Park Hills AFH is strongly positive. Reviewers consistently highlight exceptional dementia and Alzheimer's care, describing the facility as providing the "best care imaginable" and noting an extensive understanding of dementia. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the home is compassionate and welcoming, with staff who are kind, helpful, and attentive. There is a clear pattern of high satisfaction with the quality of caregiving and the facility's approach to residents with memory care needs.

Staff stability and relationships are recurring themes. Reviews call out caregiver longevity (one caregiver noted with three years at the home), implying continuity of care and familiarity with residents' needs. Reviewers specifically mention caregivers as compassionate and committed to supporting families, which suggests strong interpersonal care and good communication with relatives. The small size of the operation — repeatedly described as a 3-resident family home — appears to foster a close, personalized caregiving environment and contributes to the "home-like" and quiet atmosphere praised in the reviews.

Facilities and day-to-day living are described favorably. Park Hills AFH is called impeccably clean and welcoming. Dining is another consistent positive: meals are described as delicious, healthy, and appealing, and reviewers mention additional personal grooming services such as nail care. The overall environment is portrayed as calm and quiet, which several reviewers found particularly appropriate for their family members. Reviewers also note that the community feels warm and family-oriented, reinforcing the small-home model as a deliberate feature rather than a drawback for those who chose it.

Management and family support receive positive remarks as well. Reviewers report a commitment to supporting families, and many explicitly recommend the facility for both care quality and value. These recommendations, combined with statements about helpful staff and a welcoming atmosphere, indicate trust in the management and operational approach.

The primary and consistent concern expressed across reviews is availability. Multiple summaries state that there are limited vacancies or no memory care beds available at present. Because the home operates with only three resident beds, capacity constraints are an inherent limitation: while the small size contributes to personalized, high-quality care, it also means access can be restricted and prospective families may encounter waitlists or no immediate openings. No other significant negatives (such as cleanliness, staff turnover, meal quality, or care competency) are noted in the reviews provided.

In summary, Park Hills AFH is depicted as a small, highly rated family home specializing in dementia and Alzheimer's care, with compassionate, stable staff and a clean, quiet, home-like environment. Dining and grooming services are appreciated, and reviewers strongly recommend the facility for its care quality and value. The main practical drawback is very limited capacity and current lack of available memory care beds, which prospective families should consider when planning placement or inquiries.

    About Park Hills AFH

Park Hills AFH sits in Spokane, WA, as a small, family-style Adult Family Home serving Spokane County, and it holds a 5.0-star rating for service, which folks find comforting. The care team offers 24-hour oversight, with staff who help with grooming, toileting, and all daily living needs, whether someone needs a little help or total care. The staff handles things like medication management, blood sugar checks, insulin shots, and can help with specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe transfers, and they know how to handle tube feeding, catheter care, and glucose monitoring, which some places won't do. The nurse and doctor are available on call, with regular visits from a dentist and podiatrist, so folks don't have to go without care. For those at the end-of-life, hospice and respite care offer extra support when families and residents need it, and the facility's set up to let people stay in the same home even as their needs change, which some people call "aging in place."

Memory care is a focus here, and there's a purpose-built, secure building just for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia. The staff knows how to care for people who wander or act out, and they use technology like WanderGuard bracelets and wander alert alarms-these ring if someone heads off to an unsafe area. The grounds are locked and secure, so people at high risk for elopement can stay safe, but they also get outside time in the secure outdoor common area. Daily activities include gardening clubs, pet therapy, games, and religious or devotional services, so there's something for many interests and needs. The team also provides behavioral care for people with tough symptoms, and therapists come for speech, occupational, and physical therapy as needed, which keeps bodies and minds as well as possible.

Park Hills AFH has ground-floor units for easy wheelchair access and wheelchair-friendly showers, with private, semi-private, and one-bedroom rooms available. The place has the feeling of a home, with a bed capacity under ten, and all rooms connect easily to shared indoor and outdoor spaces. There's a beautician onsite, parking for residents, and transportation is offered for trips or appointments. Residents can bring pets, join gardening, use the internet with Wi-Fi, and get vegetarian meals or regular fare at group meals prepared onsite. The property is nonsmoking inside, with rules about residents being male or female to fit everyone's comfort, and visiting hours run from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Caregivers offer help with daily tasks and reminders so no one feels left out or unsure. The place aims for safety, comfort, and enough freedom for everyone to feel as independent as possible while getting the support needed as people change with age or memory loss.
