    Pleasant staff, construction, cleanliness issues

I live here and overall I'm pleased: the atmosphere is pleasant, the place offers independent, assisted and continuing care, and daily outings and on-campus activities (pool, gym, library, dining hall, kitchenette, convenience store) keep life active. The staff-Brandy, Quinn and many compassionate, professional team members (some with Masonic backgrounds)-are dedicated, informative and promote resident autonomy and stability; safety measures like fingerprinting/background checks are reassuring. My main issue is ongoing construction (about five years) and persistent cleanliness problems-daily trash buildup attracts flies, squirrels, rodents and large birds.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews portray Masonic Homes as a broadly positive senior living community with strong praise for the care environment, staff, and the social offerings. Most comments emphasize a pleasant, home-like atmosphere, a sense of stability and harmony, and a high degree of staff compassion and professionalism. Multiple reviewers highlight that the community provides several levels of care—independent living, assisted living, and continuing care—which makes it attractive for residents seeking continuity as needs change.

Care quality and staff: The dominant theme across summaries is the high quality of staff and caregiving. Reviewers repeatedly describe staff as compassionate, dedicated, professional, helpful and informative. Several staff members are singled out by name (Brandy and Quinn) for positive attention, and a few reviews note Masonic backgrounds as part of the community identity. The environment is characterized as supporting resident autonomy while providing reliable, attentive care. Safety protocols are also emphasized, with explicit mention of fingerprinting and background checks, indicating a formal approach to resident security.

Facilities and amenities: Reviews indicate the facility is well equipped with amenities that support active living and convenience. Commonly mentioned features include spacious, roomy units with kitchenettes, a pool and gym, a dining hall, a library, and an on-site convenience store. Independent living is available and appears to be comfortable and well-appointed. These amenities, combined with the large range of activities, contribute to reviewers' perceptions of a top-notch senior care environment that encourages health, recreation, and social engagement.

Activities and daily life: The community receives positive feedback for its activity programming. Reviewers note daily outings and numerous on-campus activities that promote socialization and recreation. There is a recurring comment that residents have access to a variety of events and opportunities, which helps sustain a positive atmosphere and contributes to the overall sense of stability and community among residents and staff.

Management, safety and organizational culture: Beyond individual caregiving, reviewers comment on overall harmony among staff and a generally positive atmosphere. Staff communication is described as informative and helpful. The explicit safety measure of fingerprinting/background checks is cited, reinforcing that management places importance on resident safety and staff vetting. The presence of Masonic-affiliated staff or identity is noted by some reviewers and appears to be part of the cultural fabric they value.

Negative patterns and concerns: While the overall tone is positive, reviewers consistently raise a few operational concerns that are nontrivial. The most frequently mentioned negative issue is ongoing construction—several comments indicate the site has been under construction for an extended period (notably described as five years). Prolonged construction can imply ongoing disruption, aesthetic or access impacts, and potential delays in improvements. Another clear concern is cleanliness: reviewers describe daily trash accumulation that has attracted wildlife. This has reportedly led to flies, squirrels, rodents, and large birds being drawn to waste, which undermines the home-like environment and raises legitimate concerns about sanitation and pest control. These cleanliness and wildlife issues are the most concrete negatives and represent actionable problem areas for management.

Balanced assessment: In synthesis, Masonic Homes is portrayed as a caring, well-staffed senior community with robust programming, good amenities, multiple care levels, and a positive culture. The facility's strengths are largely people-driven—compassionate staff, named individuals who stand out, and a sense of resident autonomy and stability. The most significant operational drawbacks noted by reviewers are long-term construction and ongoing cleanliness/pest issues tied to trash management. Those negatives appear to detract from an otherwise strong offering and would be the primary areas for management attention if priorities for improvement were to be identified.

Recommendation focus areas (based on review patterns): If acting on the feedback, the highest-impact actions would be (1) address trash collection and pest control protocols to remove the immediate cleanliness/wildlife problem that multiple reviewers described, and (2) improve communication and timeline transparency regarding the extended construction to reduce resident and family frustration. Resolving those concerns would likely strengthen the overall positive impression created by the staff, activities, and amenities.
