    About Villa San Pedro Apartments

Villa San Pedro Apartments was a family and senior apartment community on 282 Danze Dr in San Jose, CA, and though the doors are now closed, it had a long history, starting back in 1970 with major renovations in 1990, and folks living there found 100 affordable homes, most of them supported by project-based HUD Section 8 assistance, on a well-kept 3.92-acre property; 34 units were one-bedroom, 45 were two-bedroom, 15 were three-bedroom, and 6 were four-bedroom, each one fitted with patios or balconies, energy-efficient appliances, gas ranges, and covered parking, plus you'd see a playground, picnic area, basketball court, elevator, Coin-Operated Laundry Facility, and a Community Room with a kitchen, and people could get to know each other at the after-school program with crafts and tutoring, or just enjoy the community building for gatherings. Villa San Pedro Apartments followed strict non-smoking rules, allowed up to two pets with a fee, and always made sure there was an on-site Maintenance Manager and resident services available for help. Rents were set at 30% of a resident's income, with income limits, so to live there your household first had to meet minimum and maximum income guidelines-like the cap being $76,140 for one person, $87,000 for two, and higher for bigger households-and there were set limits on how many people could live in each apartment, for example, one to three for a 1-bedroom, two to five for a 2-bedroom, three to seven for a 3-bedroom, and four to nine for a 4-bedroom. While Villa San Pedro offered no extra amenities on paper, residents had access to independent living, respite care for short-term caregiver relief, assisted living services for adults needing help with daily tasks, and specialized memory care for seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia, plus home care for those living at home who needed a hand with non-medical needs, often backed by trained aides. Dining services had nutritious meals from chef and planners, and the property also held awards like Best of Senior Living and Best Activities in Senior Living, showing a solid effort at resident care and engagement, and while Villa San Pedro was managed by Housing Management and overseen by The United Effort Organization, Inc., part of a bigger network of affordable housing and special needs rentals, the waitlist for every unit size was closed before the community itself closed, so no new residents were being accepted. The whole place was built and funded with help from the Santa Clara Housing Authority, the City of San Jose, and HUD programs, and reviews from the community, when it was open, pointed to high satisfaction among folks living there.
