    Spotless community with friendly staff

I toured this senior community and was impressed-great location, spotless facility, friendly and helpful staff, happy residents, plus bingo and bus transportation. There's a waiting list for a reason; it's a wonderful place to live.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for Metairie Manor present a mixed picture. Positive comments emphasize convenience and community features: on-site transportation for appointments and errands, scheduled religious services (Saturday Mass), an entry sign-in system for security, and organized social offerings such as bingo and group outings. Several reviewers described friendly, helpful staff and clean areas, and the facility’s central location was noted as a strength. At the same time, other reviewers raised substantive concerns about the physical condition of the building and the daily environment.

Care and staff impressions are inconsistent. Some reviewers described staff as friendly and helpful and highlighted available transportation and social support. Others raised concerns about limited staff engagement and responsiveness, describing infrequent interactions and occasional unhelpfulness. These contrasting accounts suggest variability in staff availability or in individual experiences; prospective residents should ask about current staffing levels, shift coverage, and staff-resident engagement practices during a visit.

Activity programming and dining are lightly documented in the feedback. The facility offers scheduled activities (bingo, bus outings) and religious services, which are meaningful components of social life for some residents. However, several reviewers characterized the activity schedule as limited in variety or frequency. Dining quality was not a common topic in the available summaries, so there is insufficient information to form a clear assessment of meal service or menu variety.

Facility condition and management practices are recurring themes. Multiple reviewers described outdated interiors, worn finishes (carpet and tile), slow elevators, limited parking, and what reviewers characterized as a generally run-down atmosphere; these observations align with comments about infrequent renovations and deferred maintenance. There are also specific sanitation-related concerns including odors in some areas and pest-control issues, alongside other reviewers who described the facility as clean; this divergence suggests inconsistency across locations or units. Management positives include visible security procedures and the existence of a waiting list, which indicates demand, but reviewers also noted delays or frustrations related to admission communication.

Overall, Metairie Manor appears to offer several practical amenities and community features valued by residents, while simultaneously showing signs of an aging physical plant and inconsistent operational performance. Prospective residents and families should arrange an in-person visit, review the current activity calendar, inquire about recent pest-control and sanitation measures, ask for a schedule of planned renovations and maintenance, verify staffing ratios and response protocols, and inspect potential units for space and odor issues before making a placement decision.

    About Metairie Manor

Metairie Manor stands as a residential apartment community for people aged 62 and older, and for those with physical disabilities who need an accessible place to live, and you'll find that there's a mix of independent living, assisted living, memory care, and home care services available, so people with different needs can feel comfortable, and management by Providence Community Housing means there's an on-site team ready to help when needed. Residents use senior apartments, which are simple and easy to get around, and there are wheelchairs, walkers, ramps, and stair lifts to make things safer and easier, and a smoke-free policy keeps the air clean inside the building. Metairie Manor doesn't list every detail about the building's features, but there's on-site management, laundry rooms, and kitchens in every unit with electric stoves and frost-free refrigerators, while heating and air conditioning are controlled in each home so folks stay comfortable. Pets are allowed, so people who like animals can have a companion with them, and a daily lunch program makes sure everyone gets a nutritious meal.

The community offers regular activities including clubs, birthday parties, holiday gatherings, and a structured program with educational, social, and fun events each month, and for convenience, there's a full-service beauty salon, laundry, a fitness center, and a computer lab. Transportation helps people get to stores or doctor appointments, and there are plenty of places for eating out or shopping nearby if anyone wants to explore a bit further. People in need of more support have access to care management services, disease-specific organizations, elder abuse protection, elder law attorneys, and veteran services, and those with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia can join the memory care program that provides a safe, specialized setting. For people who need help with daily activities like getting dressed or remembering medicines, there's assisted living care, and skilled nursing, hospice, home health, and adult day care services are also part of what's offered, though specific details about health care types or costs aren't mentioned. There are also shared residences, called personal care homes, where a caregiver lives with residents who need extra help, and senior centers give opportunities to connect and gather.

The staff at Metairie Manor aim to create a friendly, helpful atmosphere where folks feel welcome and part of the community, and regular events, as well as comfortable amenities like social dining and activity programs, support that goal. Residents can enjoy a life that's both convenient and safe, with several services tailored to meet unique needs.
