    Pleasant senior living with amenities

I live here and have been pleased - the apartment and community room are very nice, the manager is friendly, and underground parking is included. The small exercise room, beautiful garden and patio, and many on-site amenities make it a solid senior-living option.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment from the provided review summaries is mixed-to-positive, with consistently favorable comments about the physical property, the apartments, and certain staff interactions, combined with clear concerns about cost, location, policy transparency, and a potential mismatch with some prospective residents' expectations. The strongest, most repeated positives are the condition and features of the property itself (nice facility, attractive gardens and patio, well-appointed community room) and specific perks such as underground parking being included and a variety of amenities. Conversely, the recurring negatives relate to price and inflexibility, distance from urban/metropolitan centers, ambiguity about smoke-free policies, and the fact that the community is not limited to 55+ residents, which may disappoint some older-adult seekers.

Staff and management: Reviews specifically call out a "nice manager," indicating a generally positive impression of at least front-line management or leasing staff. There is no detailed feedback about broader staff performance, caregiving, or responsiveness beyond that single positive note. Management-related concerns center on financial policies: rent is characterized as high and pricing as not negotiable. That creates a perception of rigidity and potentially limited willingness to work with prospective residents on pricing or concessions.

Facilities and apartments: The property receives consistent praise for physical attributes. Apartments are mentioned as "nice" and also "large," suggesting the living units themselves are appealing in size and condition. Common spaces are described positively — a nice community room and a small but pleasant exercise room — and outdoor spaces are highlighted as a strong selling point, with a beautiful garden and patio area. The inclusion of underground parking in the rent is noted as a concrete benefit. Overall, reviewers portray the facility as well-maintained and amenity-rich.

Amenities and activity spaces: Several reviews emphasize that the community "offers a lot of amenities," which aligns with the comments about the community room, exercise area, and garden/patio. The exercise room is described as small but nice, so while the quality is viewed positively, capacity or scale may be limited. There is no direct feedback about dining services, organized activities, transportation options, or care programming in these summaries, so conclusions about those aspects cannot be drawn from the available data.

Policies, demographics, and transparency: A few items raise concern about fit and policy clarity. The community is explicitly noted as "not a 55+ community," which may make it unsuitable for prospective residents seeking an age-restricted environment. Another recurring issue is uncertainty over whether the property is smoke-free; reviewers describe the smoke-free status as unclear, suggesting either inconsistent enforcement or insufficient communication from management. Pricing is described as high and non-negotiable, which, together with the comment "didn't quite find what I hoped for," points to a mismatch between expectations (possibly for value, community type, or specific services) and what the property offers.

Location and market fit: Multiple reviewers indicate the location is "far from metro area," which is a significant drawback for anyone who needs regular access to urban services, transit, or family in the city. This geographic factor, combined with relatively high and non-negotiable rent, may limit the property's appeal to people who prioritize proximity to metropolitan amenities or who are budget-sensitive. For those seeking a quieter, more suburban or rural setting with good on-site amenities, the location may be acceptable or even desirable.

Notable gaps and final assessment: The summaries provide solid information on physical assets and a positive impression of at least one manager, but they lack detail on care quality, dining, activity programming, medical support, and resident life beyond amenities. That absence of information is itself important: prospective residents should request specifics on activities, healthcare links (if relevant), daily services, and written policies (smoking, guest rules, noise, etc.) before deciding. In summary, Maple Ridge appears to be a well-maintained, amenity-rich property with attractive apartments and outdoor spaces and a helpful manager, but prospective residents should weigh the high, non-negotiable rent, the distance from the metro area, unclear smoking policy, and the non-55+ status when determining fit. Those priorities will determine whether the community is a good match despite its many physical strengths.

    About Maple Ridge

Maple Ridge sits in Maplewood, MN, surrounded by quiet natural gardens, with waterfall features and mature trees that make the area feel calm and peaceful, and while folks have said the building's clean and well-managed, you'll notice right away that the place feels a little tucked away from busy traffic but is still close to shops and places to eat. Apartment homes come in one or two bedroom options, with either one or two bathrooms, and each one offers full kitchens, tubs, showers, air conditioning, and some have layouts with split bedrooms for a bit more privacy, and you can find units ranging in size from 804 to 1,304 square feet. There's no lack of accessibility, since there's an elevator, wheelchair access throughout, and heated underground parking, which is also connected to an underground garage, making winter a little easier for everyone, while every apartment has either a patio or balcony, so getting fresh air isn't ever a problem, and there's plenty of sunlight in the common areas, including a quiet courtyard and outdoor gathering spots with BBQ grills and picnic tables.

If you like to stay active or want a place to relax, Maple Ridge includes a fitness center, a sauna, and walking paths outdoors, and folks with pets might appreciate the on-site dog park along with a specially designed pet park, since cats and dogs are welcome here with a pet deposit and monthly fee. Safety and service matter, so there's controlled building access, 24-hour emergency maintenance, onsite management that receives regular praise, and the building offers easy laundry options right on property, so carrying heavy bags up and down stairs isn't needed. There's also a community room with audio-visual equipment for events, a car wash area for residents, bike racks for storage if you like to ride, plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to gather, and convenient transportation and parking access. Heated underground parking's included for residents, which is handy in Minnesota winters. Lease lengths range from three to twelve months, and shorter rentals might cost a bit more, but it makes things flexible if you don't want a long commitment. Even without all the specific amenity details, the place stands out for being comfortable and convenient, with a quiet feeling and natural surroundings, and the units with beautiful interiors and wood floors offer lots of choices no matter what kind of layout you prefer. Units become available off and on, and with floor plans of various sizes, options are frequently open for new renters.
