    Caring staff and immaculate facility

I moved my mom to Chippewa Place and we're very pleased - the staff (Allison and Sarah included) are caring and responsive, the facility is immaculate, apartments are spacious, and the grounds are lovely. Meals, housekeeping, transportation and a busy activities calendar (pinochle, tap, outings) keep residents engaged; management is welcoming and accessible, and overall it's great value - I'd recommend a tour.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews for Chippewa Place create a predominantly positive portrait of an independent living community with a strong emphasis on interpersonal care, cleanliness, and social engagement. Most commentary emphasizes a family-like culture, long-tenured and attentive staff, and tidy, well-designed living spaces. At the same time, patterns in the feedback suggest areas families should clarify on a tour—primarily dining consistency, management stability, and contractual/ownership terms.

Care and staff: The facility is consistently described as staffed by compassionate, resident-centered caregivers who foster a family atmosphere. Multiple comments single out the director and office manager for accessibility and advocacy; some families noted direct phone access for managers. Support services are available for residents who want to maintain independence, with on-call care and concierge coverage reported around the clock. These operational strengths are reinforced by prompt maintenance responses, proactive housekeeping, and visible staff involvement in activities and daily life.

Dining: Dining at Chippewa Place is a prominent feature—many reviewers praised restaurant-style service, generous dinners, and included breakfast and dinner. At the same time, food quality and menu variety emerge as an inconsistent area: while some residents and families describe the cuisine as excellent, others describe bland meals or insufficient options for heart-healthy or sugar-free diets. Comments also reference menu adjustments and differences since owner/management transitions; prospective residents with specific medical dietary needs should verify current menu accommodations and kitchen practices.

Activities and community life: The activity program is a clear strength. Reviewers report a robust calendar that includes exercise classes (yoga, chair tap), arts and crafts, live music, shopping trips, religious transportation, and social games such as pinochle and bingo. The community is frequently described as friendly and welcoming, with many residents forming new social connections quickly. Pandemic-era limitations were mentioned as a temporary constraint; families should ask about current programming and contingency plans for future infection-control events.

Facilities and amenities: The property is repeatedly described as clean, well kept, and attractively landscaped, with spacious apartment layouts, large bathrooms, and pleasant common spaces (library, cozy lounges, dining room). On-site amenities include a beauty salon, laundry rooms, and accessible transportation. The absence of in-unit washers/dryers was noted; instead, the facility provides shared laundry facilities and staff assistance when needed.

Management and operations: There is a mix of strong endorsements and notable concerns regarding management. Many reviewers praise hands-on, resident-focused leadership and stable staff, whereas others express concerns about ownership change, rent increases, reduced service levels, and inconsistent management practices. There is at least one allegation of inappropriate staff conduct toward a long-term resident; prospective families should inquire about grievance procedures, incident documentation, and any corrective actions undertaken. Asking for a copy of the current service contract, recent fee history, and details about ownership oversight is recommended.

Decision guidance: Chippewa Place appears to offer a supportive, activity-rich independent living environment with good value for many residents—especially those prioritizing social programming, attentive staff, and a clean, home-like setting. Key due-diligence items for prospective residents and families include: confirming current dining menus and special-diet accommodations, reviewing contract terms and recent rent history, asking about staffing stability and leadership turnover, and discussing how the community handles resident concerns or disputes. A tour that includes meetings with the director, dining manager, and administrative staff—plus sample meals and a review of recent menus and activity schedules—will help determine if the facility’s strengths align with an individual’s care and lifestyle needs.

    • Great Senior Community!

I have a family member who has lived at Chippewa for quite some time now, she couldn't be happier! I'm currently in the process of looking for my inlaws, hoping Chippewa Place will have availability. Call Alison for a tour, highly recommend.

    About Chippewa Place

Chippewa Place sits in a red-brick, Colonial-style building at 7005 Stadium Drive, right in historic downtown Brecksville, Ohio, and offers 100 full-size apartments with either one or two bedrooms, so folks can choose what suits them. Each apartment has a full kitchen and all the usual utilities like gas, electric, and water are included, which saves residents from keeping track of extra bills, and there's complimentary laundry facilities for everyone to use. Residents can expect weekly housekeeping and maintenance, along with a 24-hour emergency call system if something happens during the night or day, and there's also parking and garages, though exact details about these are a bit unclear.

People living here get social with outings to local restaurants, theaters, and movies, or they can join in on games, cards, and holiday parties held in the building. There's weekly activities like arts and crafts, guest speakers, and exercise classes, and the place brings in a hearing specialist and a podiatrist every week, so it's easier to keep up with health checks. The salon offers haircuts and nail care right on site, which many find convenient. Meals are crafted by chefs and meal planners to give good nutrition, with dinner featuring two entree choices every day in an elegant dining room and a light continental breakfast served on weekdays.

The building's got updated lounges, each with its own theme, such as a library for reading, a billiard room, a TV lounge, and a chapel for quiet reflection, so there's a corner for most interests. Chippewa Place also works with Independence Instead for home health care and private duty services, making it possible to get some help if it's needed. The community follows rules and protections for housing, employment, and public accommodations, including those about LGBTQ rights, showing a commitment to fairness. Staff here tend to be helpful and friendly, aiming to keep things welcoming-a place where seniors can stay active but can also get some extra care, like with bathing or dressing, if the situation calls for it. Chippewa Place is recognized with awards such as Best of Senior Living and the All-Star award, which shows that many people have had a good experience over time. Residents say it's a pleasant place for independent retirement, assisted living for folks who want help with daily tasks, or for seniors with memory care needs, and folks appreciate the detailed attention to activities, safety, and well-being, so if you like a community setting with a bit of everything but not too fancy or flashy, that's what people find here.
