    Warm, caring community for dad

I chose this community for my dad and couldn't be happier - the staff are warm, caring, and know residents by name, the apartments are spacious with great amenities (on-site fitness, transportation), and there are plenty of activities where he's made friends and is truly thriving. Communication was responsive, move-in was smooth, and the welcoming, home-like atmosphere has given our family real peace of mind; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Tealridge Independent Living is described overall as a warm, home‑like community with an active social calendar and staff who prioritize resident dignity and friendliness. Reviewers highlight a broad set of social offerings — bingo, rummikub, knitting club, choir and other activities — and frequent opportunities for residents to form new friendships. Transportation services, on-site fitness equipment, and a range of apartment sizes (including larger two-bedroom units) contribute to the community’s appeal for people seeking independence with social supports.

Care and staff interactions are consistently cited as a strength. Staff members are frequently described as compassionate, familiar with residents by name, and willing to stay with residents during emergent situations. Families often noted attentive move‑in assistance, pandemic-era safety measures, and relief after placement. At the same time, there are operational patterns to consider: some reviews indicate gaps in after‑hours responsiveness and family communication, and at least one instance of medication-administration miscommunication was noted. Those patterns suggest the facility generally provides good day‑to‑day support but may have occasional weaknesses in clinical handoffs and off‑hour coordination.

Dining emerges as a mixed area. While some reviewers found the food acceptable, others described inconsistent meal temperature, repetitive menus, and long waits linked to kitchen staffing shortages. Requests for meal modifications were not always accommodated reliably. These comments point to an operational constraint in the dining department — useful to verify during a tour, especially for prospective residents with specific dietary preferences or strict meal‑time needs.

Facilities and unit features match the independent‑living model: comfortable common areas, weekly housekeeping, and adequate amenity offerings. Apartment sizes meet many residents’ needs, though a few families found one‑bedroom layouts small and some bathrooms not configured for walker use. Prospective residents who require greater mobility support or more medical oversight should evaluate accessibility features and consider whether a higher level of care would be more appropriate.

In summary, Tealridge presents as a friendly, socially active independent‑living community with strong interpersonal care and supportive staff. Key operational considerations are dining consistency, kitchen staffing stability, communication processes after hours, and medication‑handoff controls. Prospective residents and families should prioritize an in‑person tour, ask about current dining and staffing stability, confirm accessibility within the chosen unit, and review clinical/after‑hours communication protocols to ensure the community matches their care and lifestyle needs.

    About Tealridge Independent Living

Tealridge Independent Living sits in Edmond, Oklahoma, and serves as a retirement community for seniors who want a comfortable place with some help for daily needs but don't need steady medical care. The community offers different types of care, including independent living for active seniors, assisted living for folks who need help with day-to-day activities like bathing or medication, and memory care for those with Alzheimer's or other memory problems. Nurses provide first-aid and some basic medical help on site, but the main focus stays on helping with things like meals, laundry, housekeeping, getting around, and keeping company. Seniors live in private apartments with kitchenettes, cable TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and private bathrooms, and the rooms are meant to make the move into the community smooth and personal.

You'll find a good number of amenities, such as a clubhouse, fitness center, outdoor pool, walking paths through well-kept greenery, a library, arts room, game room, and wellness room, and the place allows pets and has high-speed internet. Group activities, like movie nights, outings to local restaurants, game nights, and community programs, help everybody stay social and involved, with both resident-led and staff-organized events going on. There are wellness and exercise classes, and health seminars to support all-around well-being, not just physical but also emotional, social, spiritual, and mental. The dining program has chef-prepared meals every day, available in a restaurant-style setting with choices that respect dietary needs, allergies, and diabetes. Housekeeping, laundry, and help with transportation or moving in are all available, and the staff keeps an eye on people with 24-hour supervision and call buttons for quick help if needed.

Tealridge offers adult day services, home health care that's Medicare-certified, skilled nursing, hospice, and home care for non-medical needs, and it's committed to helping residents as their needs change. The community prides itself on staying welcoming and supportive, trying to make things feel like home while offering enough activities and support to keep seniors safe, active, and happy. Families find that the personalized care helps seniors keep their independence but get help when they need it, and with the pretty grounds, easy-access features for disabilities, and a focus on companionship, plenty of folks find it a good fit. The place has a rating of 8.4/10 and is connected with other communities like Touchmark at Coffee Creek, Epworth Villa Health Services, and The Veraden, offering a wide range of care and living options.
