    Friendly staff, but safety concerns

I moved my mother here and the staff and manager are genuinely friendly, dedicated, and helpful - apartments, food, activities, on-site laundry/grocery/salon and transportation are all positives. Sadly the building feels run-down: outdated, dirty public spaces, old carpet, strong bug-spray odor and glue/bug traps outside doors. I'm also worried about safety - a broken lock/master-key issue and staff bypassing entry card policy. Management works hard and residents seem happy, but given the infestation and security problems I can't recommend this place.

    About Luther Towers

Luther Towers sits in Memphis, TN, right in a lively neighborhood with green spaces and tidy grounds, and you'll find a 13-story high-rise with 196 one-bedroom units, so seniors over 50 can live comfortably whether they want independent living, assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing care, and the staff keeps the place friendly and safe with 24-hour security and secure building access. Residents get to live maintenance-free and enjoy resort-style extras like a fitness center, swimming pool, and community clubhouse, while the on-site store, laundry, church, and beauty shop make things more convenient, and those bathtubs, wall rails, and wheelchair-accessible showers mean plenty of thought's gone into safety and comfort. Luther Towers provides help for people needing different support-respite care, hospice, skilled nursing with round-the-clock medical care, memory care for Alzheimer's and dementia in secure spaces, daily activity help, medication management, meals, and even homecare services, plus doctors and nurses are available and there are weekly doctor visits, and therapists like podiatrists, physical, occupational, and speech therapists see residents regularly. Residents can bring their cats or dogs, as long as they're small, and pay a little deposit, and there's plenty of parking, easy elevator access, indoor and outdoor spaces to socialize, and public transportation nearby, so independence is encouraged but help's there when it's needed. Memory care offers memory-enhancing activities and programs suited for seniors with dementia in a secure area that reduces confusion and helps with wandering, and folks in independent living can join weekly trips, pizza and movie nights, games, cookouts, and potlucks, plus there's always a monthly activity calendar on hand so everyone can stay engaged. Nutritious meals are included in the rent, utilities are covered, and support services are optional in independent living, so seniors who need more care can get it, but those who want to keep their freedom can do that too. The community strives to create a homey environment with kindness from staff, friendly neighbors, a senior apartment setup, and a focus on supporting well-being through social, physical, mental, and emotional activities.
