    Professional, attentive, friendly rehab care

I was very pleased with my family's experience at Margate Health & Rehabilitation - professional, friendly and attentive staff, strong physical therapy, and a clean, bright, airy facility with pleasant common spaces and outdoor areas. Food and activities (Shuffleboard, Bingo, and Christine in activities) kept my mom engaged, and caregivers like Nurse Audre Doyle and Victoria's team stood out. Overall a reassuring, well-run rehab I would recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center elicits a mixed but specific pattern of experiences. Many families and patients describe a clean, bright facility with updated public spaces, large windows and a pleasant courtyard that support recreational activity. Activity programming, including bingo and shuffleboard, receives strong praise; several activity staff and directors are specifically highlighted for creating an engaging atmosphere. The facility also demonstrates strengths in rehabilitative services in many cases โ€” physical and occupational therapy are described as effective and professionally run, and some reviewers characterize the center as among the better local rehab options.

Staffing and direct care present a dual picture. Numerous accounts emphasize friendly, helpful nursing staff, responsive management and clear physician communication. Conversely, recurring concerns involve staffing levels and frontโ€‘line caregiver performance: reviewers describe delays in responding to call lights, inconsistent bathing and toileting assistance, and variability in CNA training and bedside manner. These operational gaps are often linked to perceptions of understaffing and are associated with delayed restorative care and occasional problems with safe transfer techniques.

Dining and continuing care show variability. Several families report satisfactory or good food and caring diningโ€‘room staff, while others describe inconsistent meal quality. Rehabilitation services are judged strong when therapies are delivered as planned, but there are repeated reports of promised therapy not being provided consistently or not producing expected progress. Relatedly, some reviewers express concerns about restorativeโ€‘care followโ€‘up after discharge and about painโ€‘management or medication delays during postโ€‘operative recovery.

Management responsiveness and communication receive both commendation and critique. Management is praised for quick responses and clear updates in many cases; however, there are also notable concerns about emergency preparedness and timely family communication during critical events. A small number of serious allegations raise questions about transfer or discharge decisions being influenced by financial or affiliation motives. Taken together, the pattern suggests Margate can offer a strong, activityโ€‘rich, and therapyโ€‘capable environment, but prospective residents and families should assess staffing ratios, confirm therapy schedules and restorativeโ€‘care plans, and clarify emergency and communication protocols before admission.

About Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center

Margate Health And Rehabilitation Center has 170 certified beds and is a for-profit limited liability company connected with Onyx Health. The staff provides an average of 3.60 nurse hours per resident every day, but the nurse turnover rate is about 30.8%, so you may see new faces from time to time. Inspection reports have found 22 deficiencies, with one related to how infections are handled and another about dental care, so it's important to know the facility has had some challenges there. Residents get help with daily activities and can use telehealth services, which means health care visits by phone or video. The center has a partnership with a hospital and features a team focused on kidney and hypertension care. Specialized kidney services cover dialysis, kidney stones, and even kidney transplants, and they also help with cardiac recovery, pulmonary care, trach care, and IV therapy. Margate offers short-term rehabilitation, assisted living, and long-term care, and there's a large atrium where people can get fresh air. The staff often provides physical and occupational therapy twice a day, six days a week, and there's help for those recovering from strokes, needing sports medicine, wound care, or neuropsychology services. Hospice and respite care are available, along with nutrition support like enteral nutrition. The facility runs 24-hour skilled nursing and aims to cover not just physical health but emotional, spiritual, social, and psychological needs. Social services and discharge planning help with the move back home when the time comes. Margate Health And Rehabilitation Center also provides access to clinical research and trials for kidney health, which is something not all places do. There are regular activities, and the nursing staff often earns compliments for being professional and courteous. The wellness facilities have won awards, and everything focuses on skilled nursing and rehabilitation in a patient-centered setting, but one should be aware of the inspection findings and reported nurse turnover.
