    Compassionate staff and excellent care

I'm very pleased with my experience - staff were consistently polite, compassionate and professional, and the nursing and therapy teams went above and beyond during my mom's rehab. The facility is clean, friendly, with good meals, engaging activities and comfortable rooms; communication and care felt reliable. I highly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewer impressions of Westbury Center of Jackson are mixed but show clear patterns. Many families and residents praised the facility’s clinical strengths: a capable rehabilitation and therapy program, several named nurses and therapists who received positive mentions, and caregivers described as compassionate and professional. Positive experiences frequently referenced strong outcomes from physical therapy, attentive one-on-one caregiving, well-organized admissions and discharge processes, and a generally warm, social atmosphere among residents.

The facility’s environment and programming are also well regarded. Multiple accounts highlight a clean campus and interior, ongoing remodeling efforts, roomy semi-private/private rooms, and a variety of common areas including therapy gyms, weight rooms, and game rooms. There is consistent appreciation for recreational offerings and decorations; activities and social programming were described as plentiful and engaging. Dining and food-service staff received praise in many reports for meals and the dining experience, although meal quality was not uniformly consistent.

However, a number of operational concerns recur across reviews. Staffing levels and responsiveness are prominent issues: reviewers described delays in attending to residents’ needs, inconsistent timeliness of assistance, and occasions when staffing shortages appeared to affect care delivery. These operational gaps intersect with reports of variable staff conduct and communication tone — some families encountered rude or unapproachable interactions while others experienced compassionate, professional staff. There are also indicated gaps in staff training and attentiveness tied to distraction while on duty.

Infection-control and administrative practices drew criticism in several accounts. Concerns included inconsistent hand-hygiene practices, outbreaks and quarantine measures during infectious periods, and visitation restrictions that families found rigid. Communication with families was another repeated theme: poor phone responsiveness (notably on weekends), delays or failures to notify families about incidents, and inconsistent documentation or incident reporting were all raised. Practical operational issues such as laundry management, occasional missing clothing, and some dated or crowded areas of the building were also noted.

In summary, Westbury Center of Jackson presents a combination of clear strengths and operational weaknesses. The facility’s rehabilitative services, many committed caregivers, active programming, and generally clean environment are important positives that support recovery and resident engagement. Prospective residents and families should balance those strengths against recurring concerns about staffing consistency, communication and documentation practices, infection-control consistency, and parts of the physical plant that may require updating. Visiting the unit, meeting the care team, and clarifying communication and visitation policies before admission can help set expectations and identify whether the facility’s strengths align with a family’s priorities.
