    Skilled compassionate staff and therapy

I stayed here for rehab and was very pleased - skilled, compassionate staff and outstanding physical therapy helped me recover. The facility is spotless and home-like, admin is responsive, meals and activities are good, and the peaceful location made my stay comfortable; I'd recommend it for short- or long-term care.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for Cumberland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center show a polarized picture in which clear strengths coexist with recurrent operational concerns. Many families and residents praise the clinical rehabilitation program and frontline caregivers: physical and occupational therapy are frequently described as effective and goal-oriented, with measurable functional gains for residents. Multiple accounts highlight compassionate nurses and CNAs, attentive social-work support, personalized care plans, and admissions/patient-relations staff who facilitate smooth transitions. The facility is often described as bright, recently remodeled in parts, and capable of hosting family-oriented events and activities that support social engagement.

At the same time, a consistent cluster of facility-level issues appears across reviews. Staffing adequacy and turnover are recurring themes: reviewers describe inconsistent shift coverage, slow responses to call bells, and variability in nursing attentiveness. Several accounts point to shortcomings in medication administration timing and overall medication-management processes. Environmental and sanitation concerns are reported in some areas, including pest-control issues and intermittent housekeeping lapses; these reports coexist with other accounts that describe well-maintained rooms and reliable housekeeping, underscoring variability by unit or period.

Dining and daily living services receive mixed feedback. Many reviewers compliment the meals, dining staff, and special-event dining (holiday lunches, Thanksgiving), but other families describe cold weekend meals, small portions for some residents, and inconsistent food quality. Activities programming and social opportunities are a consistent strength, with frequent notes about singing, holiday events, and regular engagement options that help residents acclimate and socialize.

Management and communication also show a divide. Numerous family accounts single out specific administrators and liaisons for proactive, hands-on problem solving and timely follow-up; these staff members are credited with improving individual care experiences. Conversely, some reviews describe poor front-desk professionalism, inconsistent communication between shifts, and perceived delays in escalating clinical concerns to families. A subset of reviews raises serious allegations of staff misconduct and missing belongings; these are distinct from day-to-day operational complaints and, as noted by several commenters, would warrant formal investigation.

Overall, prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s demonstrated strengths in rehabilitation, individualized therapy, staffing champions, and activity programming against the reported variability in staffing consistency, medication processes, environmental cleaning, and communication. Visiting in person (including meal service and activity observation), asking about recent staffing ratios, infection-control and pest-management protocols, medication-administration processes, and speaking directly with therapy and nursing leadership can help clarify whether the unit or timeframe under consideration aligns with the positive patterns described by many reviewers.
