    Compassionate family owned nursing care

I'm very pleased with this family-owned facility - long-tenured, friendly and knowledgeable staff (owner on site around the clock) who were responsive, compassionate, and treated my mom like family. The place was clean and pleasant, offered lots of activities, excellent therapy that helped her regain strength, daily laundry and varied, tasty meals. Overall a very positive experience and I would happily recommend them.

    Summary of reviews

Overall assessment: Reviews present a mixed but instructive portrait. Many families and residents praised the facility for its strong rehabilitation program, day-to-day cleanliness, long-tenured staff, and the family-owned management model. The presence of an on-site owner and regular administrative visibility is frequently noted as a strength, as are the therapy outcomes, daily laundry/housekeeping, transportation coordination, and a generally home-like atmosphere.

Care and staff: Clinical strengths center on the therapy team (occupational/physical therapy) and many weekday nursing aides who are described as caring and attentive. Registered nurses and supervisors receive positive mentions for responsiveness in some cases. At the same time, there is consistent commentary about variability in care quality across shifts โ€” particularly weekends โ€” and variability in staff professionalism (cell-phone use, tone, and responsiveness). A smaller but significant number of reports raise concerns about medication management and clinical oversight, including missed or delayed medication administration and issues related to wound/infection care. Prospective families should clarify weekend staffing levels, on-call clinician coverage, and medication-safety protocols during admission.

Dining and dietary management: The facility receives both praise and criticism for food. Several reviewers highlighted generous portions, varied menus, and staff willingness to accommodate special meals. Conversely, others reported inconsistent food temperature and preparation, limited fresh fruit, and communication problems in the kitchen that affected meal delivery. Most importantly, there are documented failures in allergy and ingredient controls (notably a severe allergy scenario involving cross-contamination). Applicants with strict dietary restrictions should verify the facility's allergy protocols, dietitian involvement, and kitchen communication practices before admission.

Activities and amenities: Programming and social offerings are available (crafts, church services, entertainment, outings), and grounds and communal spaces are generally described as pleasant. However, activity options appear less engaging for younger or more active residents, and some residents cited limited socialization. Amenities like a gym and private rooms were positives for many families. Space limitations and small room sizes have been noted for residents sharing rooms or families bringing extra items.

Facilities, maintenance, and sanitation: Many reviewers describe clean, well-decorated areas with a pleasant smell, but there are also intermittent sanitation and odor concerns in select units and occasional maintenance delays (electrical/tiles). Housekeeping and room cleaning are typically performed daily, but the presence of localized cleanliness or odor issues suggests unevenness in environmental services that should be checked during a tour.

Management, communication, and billing: The family-run model and visible management are strong selling points; many families felt heard and saw prompt administrative follow-up. That said, several reviews identify communication lapses between families and administration, and at least one account describes a contentious billing dispute that required escalation to resolve. Prospective residents should request clear written explanations of billing practices and escalation channels for clinical concerns.

Bottom line guidance: Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation Center has clear strengths in rehabilitation, an invested management structure, and many examples of compassionate day-to-day care. However, patterns of variability โ€” across shifts, in medication and clinical oversight, in dietary-allergy controls, and in food quality โ€” are recurring themes. Families considering this facility should prioritize verifying weekend staffing, medication-safety procedures, allergy protocols, and billing policies, and perform an on-site tour focused on the unit they would use so they can assess cleanliness, maintenance, and activity programming firsthand.

About Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation Center

Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City sits near Lake Hefner, offering skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and different levels of care, from independent and assisted living to long-term nursing home care and memory care for folks living with Alzheimer's or dementia. The center's been family owned since 1954, and it's a single-story community that's got both newly renovated spaces and resort-style touches like private suites with bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and room service any time you want. Bellevue can take in up to 119 residents at a time but has over 220 beds for long-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing stays. They handle a range of care, including physical, occupational, and speech therapies; cardiac, orthopedic, and stroke rehabilitation; wound care; IV therapy; diabetes and pain management; hospice; and memory care. The team includes nurses, physicians, and therapists available around the clock, and the business is run by Mr. Norman Thompson and Mr. Matt Stewart. Meals are important here, with chef-designed menus and options for cook-to-order dishes, plus one or two meals prepared daily, and they take care of housekeeping and laundry for you. Bellevue accepts Medicaid and offers help with things like bathing, dressing, and medication management. The place features an on-site salon and spa, lots of activities-art classes, exercise, bingo, games, music, and even appraisal fairs and family parties-to keep residents engaged. The staff's known for being welcoming and quick to help, making an effort to respond to concerns and treat everyone with respect. Bellevue's also won awards for its quality of care and holds an A+ BBB rating, though it's not BBB accredited. The campus is designed for comfort and recovery, with serene spaces, private accommodations, and access to hospital specialists and emergency care when needed. Specialty programs support folks with complicated health needs, whether it's after a hospital stay or for long-term wellness, and the approach here covers both medical treatment and supporting mental and emotional health through community involvement and social events.
