    Friendly family style care; satisfied

I'm very impressed - the staff are friendly, loving and highly skilled, the owner is approachable, and it truly feels like a private, family-owned home rather than an institution. My mom is safe and well cared for with excellent communication, strong rehab services, two meals a day, weekly housekeeping and onsite laundry in a clean, welcoming facility near downtown; overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews present a mixed but largely positive picture of Farmersville Health and Rehabilitation. Many families emphasize the facility's strong, compassionate staff, effective therapy team and positive rehabilitation outcomes. The campus offers a mix of care settings (assisted living, nursing, and group-home styles), several practical amenities such as spacious furnished apartments, onsite laundry, weekly housekeeping, and a location close to the downtown square and within commuting distance of Dallas. Affordability and assistance with Medicaid are also noted as advantages.

Care and staff: A dominant theme across reviews is praise for caregiving personnel and therapy staff โ€” described as attentive, skilled, and family-oriented. Multiple comments point to long-tenured teams, an approachable administrator, and strong family communication. These attributes are associated with good day-to-day care, successful rehab stays, and a warm, respectful atmosphere. At the same time, a minority of accounts raise serious clinical concerns, including allegations of inappropriate medication administration; related to this, several reviewers expressed worry about inconsistent compassion or conduct among some staff members. There are also reports indicating variability in how quickly clinical issues are escalated and how leadership responds to family concerns.

Dining and activities: Dining is generally characterized as accommodating and creative, with staff willing to meet dietary restrictions. Several reviewers highlighted social programming โ€” regular activities, engagement opportunities, and events such as Happy Hour โ€” that contribute positively to resident wellโ€‘being. One operational note is that some units provide only two meals per day, which may reflect different service models on campus and is worth confirming during a visit. A few reviewers also indicated variability in how well therapy staff teach or reinforce activities of daily living, suggesting family members should clarify therapy goals and instruction practices.

Facilities and administration: The facility is frequently described as clean and well maintained, but portions of the campus are older and include shared rooms and community bathrooms. This physical layout may suit families seeking a more communal, homelike environment but may be a drawback for those wanting newer private accommodations. Administrative strengths include affordability, transparency about Medicaid options, and an engaged ownership presence; however, other reviewers reported billing disputes and frustrations with how belongings and personal property were handled. Infection-control and sanitation concerns were raised in some accounts, and several families advised asking about the facility's current infection-prevention practices and grievance processes.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The strongest, consistent positives are the people โ€” caregivers, therapy staff, and administrative leaders who are described as caring and responsive. The principal operational risks that recur across reviews are gaps in medication management, uneven clinical responsiveness, occasional sanitation/infection-control issues, and administrative handling of billing and personal property. Prospective residents and families should tour the specific unit they are considering, ask for details on medication administration protocols, infection-control policies, staff turnover and training, meal schedules for that unit, and the facility's procedures for handling resident belongings and billing disputes. Doing so will help determine whether the facility's strengths align with the family's priorities and whether any reported operational weaknesses have been addressed.

    About Farmersville Health and Rehabilitation

Farmersville Health And Rehabilitation sits over on Beech Street in Farmersville, in a spot where they're not taking new patients right now and folks need to call ahead to see when space opens up, and you'll find English-speaking staff with a few team members who can help in other languages if needed, which can give residents a bit more comfort, and the place works as a Skilled Nursing Facility focused on care for seniors who need a little extra help for short or long times, and they've got a lot going on to keep folks active, so there are on-site activities, trips outside the building, and devotionals for those who like spiritual time, and there's a sense of community with indoor spaces for relaxing and visiting, plus meal preparation done right on-site by a kitchen staff that really tries to make everyone feel at home. The caregivers bring years of experience and keep a warm, home-like atmosphere, paying attention to each person's health needs, including help for folks with diabetes, Alzheimer's, incontinence, or high-acuity needs, and they do non-ambulatory care too, which not every place does. The team offers nursing care, both regular and higher-level, alongside rehab for recovery after hospital stays, watching each person's progress to find the right level of care, whether for post-acute recovery or for a long-term plan. The program helps transition people from hospitals back home, and there's an emphasis on making sure each patient gets a plan centered around them, using a mix of new techniques and good old-fashioned teamwork. The place offers independent living and assisted living options too, often working with Farmersville Senior Apartments to help folks move smoothly from more care to a private apartment, so people don't have to worry as much about big changes. The staff run health and wellness programs, plus all the nursing home and rehabilitation center services you'd expect, with a real focus on comfort, progress, and making daily life as easy as possible for everyone.
